Me too. What's funny is when I correct someone, they often do not understand until I explain it to them.

Almost as bad as irregardless.
One that always drives me crazy but is socially acceptable is "near miss"

[url][url]But a 'near miss' is an acutal thing and more than socially acceptable. It came near, but still missed. Near Miss.
'Irregardless' isn't a word, and 'could care less', while an actual statement, is often misapplied.
It would still make more sense to say, "Near Hit."
"Near Miss" to me says, Oh look, they nearly missed. But, didn't.

It's just like saying "red balloon". It's a balloon that is red. "Near miss" is a miss that is near.
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I could care less about the whole linguistic conversation. :)

Yes, that's exactly what it means. You've been here long enough to know what kind of a stickler I can be about language! :)

actually it is a colloquialism
from http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-ico1.htm
the original expression, of course, was I couldn’t care less, meaning “it is impossible for me to have less interest or concern in this matter, since I am already utterly indifferent”. It is originally British. The first record of it in print I know of is in 1946, as the title of a book by Anthony Phelps, recording his experiences in Air Transport Auxiliary during World War II. By then it had clearly become sufficiently well known that he could rely on its being recognised. It seems to have reached the US some time in the 1950s and to have become popular in the latter part of that decade. The inverted form I could care less was coined in the US and is found only there. It may have begun to be used in the early 1960s, though it turns up in a written form only in 1966.
Why it lost its negative has been much discussed. . .
In these cases people have tried to apply logic, and it has failed them. Attempts to be logical about I could care less also fail. Taken literally, if one could care less, then one must care at least a little, which is obviously the opposite of what is meant. It is so clearly logical nonsense that to condemn it for being so (as some commentators have done) misses the point. The intent is obviously sarcastic — the speaker is really saying, “As if there was something in the world that I care less about”.

Antisemanticism? We are dragging this thread dangerously close to yet another fulfillment of Godwin's Postulate. All we need is for someone to bring up the Language N--Oh no, I'm not going to be the one to do it. :)

Anybody got a "Hitler furious when he learns threads are being derailed" link? ;)

After seeing Hitler's reaction to what's goig on with Texas Giant, I don't want to know how he feels about I-305's trims.
Or Do I? ;)
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
as someone who has ridden 305 over 200 times i would say that it is by far less thrilling...im sorry you couldnt ride it before the trim
I didn't ride before the trims but I've ridden after. The trims felt rather light and didn't seem to hold the train as much as they do on The Beast or Mean Streak. Besides that turn is still greyout inducing as well as very intense. The rest of the ride is one of the most out of control steel coaster I've ever experienced. However, the problem with this ride is the headbanging on the transitions and the turn into the brakes. I believe there are two evils in this ride and, KD had to pick their poison. The poision ended up being the near blackout issues on the first turn which could cause severe health problems; additionally lawsuits may follow. Trims on the drop appear to have reduced such occurances. Headbanging for the rest of the ride can be scapegoated to the intense nature of the ride which the riding instructions state. Greyout/Blackouts are not something that a rider can predetermine experiencing. A perfectly healthy person could be seriously injured or killed by a blackout experience.
