How Long Will TTD Hold Its Records?

Using your logic, SFMM has a demon drop type thing, but they don't count it as a roller coaster, so why should they say S:TE is a coaster?

The only coasters I count as actual caosters are complete circut coasters, so I wouldnt count STE as a coaster.

A true enthusiast goes on the kiddie coasters.

Sheesh... If you want to count STE as a coaster, then do so. If you don't, then so be it. Being at a park and thinking to yourself "gee, I'm at the park with the most coasters on earth" doesn't alter your fun in any way, so who the heck cares? Add STE to your coaster count if you want to. Heck, count it twice if you want if you've been on both sides! I have THREE credits on Colossus at SFMM (left side, right side, and backwards). It's all a matter of personal opinion, so get over it!

Anyway, back on topic. I think that TTG will hold its records for quite some time. If you think about it, how many parks have enough money, have that high of a height restriction, and even have the will power to break a 420 foot record? Not very many, I can tell you that. There's SFMM, and the few parks in Japan (darn those Japanese! Always breaking our resords!) I say that TTG's records will stand for 10 years.

TTG?

Well, if my sources are credible (the go kart opperator at Castles and Coasters) we could be seeing a 600 footer rising out of the mall parking lot in central Phoenix within a year!

But seriously, coaster heights are going along the lines of computer chips, 2 decades to reach 1ghz, 18 months to reach 2, a year to reach 3

I stand corrected Kraxelridah, I had thought Goliath was advertised to be the tallest and fastest. Then again, I do live a LOT closer to CP, so my sources could very well be biased.
lol, you just removed WT

I think you may have the park wrong. It could be Titan Thrills planning a park in west Phoenix that may do somthing like this. Stan from S&S was also rumored that he wants to do a 180 mph launch. I think that should be enough speed to do at least 700 feet. Correct me if I'm wrong on that. A 700 foot tall TA2k @ 180 would beat the crap out of TTD any day.
Is demon drop considered a coaster at CP? because if S:UE at MM is counted as a coaster, then CP could have 17 coasters compared to Magic Mountains 16. But then again Magic Mountain has a first gen freefall as well as a reverse freefall. So if you counted a reverse freefall as a credit it should only be fair if u count a first gen as well. Just an interesting thought. :)
I could be wrong and totally off topic though...
I bet S&S already has there coaster ready to go. They got the bullet in the gun, and all they are doing is letting Dragster, Cedar Point and Intamin have there moment in the sun, and before you know it....bang bang. In my opinion, HyperSonic set the standards for rollercoasters today. And to this day, Dragster and Xcellerator initial launch is nothing compared to the power that the Thrust Air has. Those coaster are nothing but rip-offs of the Thrust Air. It didn't take S&S long to go from 80 to 112. Like a few months I believe. Just watch....Kings Island gets the Thrust Air everybody has wanted, it may not be 400 feet, but its speed will blow Dragster away.
Kraxel, I have ridden both, and I think they are the same thing. Superman is in reverse, yes, but you get the same weightlessness feeling at the peak of its height, you get the same rather rough stop coming back to the station, and it makes the same ungodly amount of noise as a 1st Gen. When I first got to SFMM I was amazed by the structure since its so tall - but after riding it, I realized that it really isn't much more than a scaled up 1st gen with LSMs instead of brakes on the runout track.

The problem that is going to be encountered, sooner rather than later, is how much more intensity the "average guest" can handle.

I have seen pictures of people on TTD with their faces peeling back like you see in the movies. If that is happening at 120 mph then I don't know how much faster people are going to be comfortable going unless they enclose the trains and make them more like capsules.

I don't think TTD will be the record-holer for long but I am not sure speeds are going to get much faster unless there are drastic changes to train design.

I love when people try to bring up Demon Drop as another coaster to prove that CP has 17 and SFMM has 16... Then you have to tell them MM has Freefall, so they would be at 17-17 anyways. The "one or two?" racing coaster debate doesn't help the situation either. But there *are* two sides to STE... ;)

Wahoo Skipper, all S&S would need is to go 1 or 2 miles faster than TTD. They still hold the record for the fastest acceleration.

Tease Alert!

*Something* wicked this way comes...to the west coast in 2004!

I drove on over the Cedar Point today and spoke with some members of management. They told me that the Hydraulic motor is now fixed but they have encountered other problems. Many power failures and problems with the brake fins are keeping the ride from being open. They could not establish a clear opening date at this time.
