How Long Will TTD Hold Its Records?

It all depends on how well Six Flags maintenance can.. well.. maintain the ride.

"Life's What You Make It, So Let's Make It Rock!"
is that so?

Down is the new up.
I agree with you Krypton. That bunny hill(seems way too tall to call a "bunny" if you ask me) should be awesome. I'm guilty of always complaining that Dragster needed one of those. Does anyone else think that because of the brake fin placement on the hill a ride in the last car should rock the house?

Doubt it.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

The orginal gets all the attention. When someone starts a new trend somewhere a person who does a similar trend won't get as much attention. TTD was the one who broke the record by 102 feet, it also broke the 400 foot barrier (full circuit coaster for all of you S:TE fans).
I believe Kingda Ka will be beaten by either...

1. Blackpool, sometime soon...
2. S&S, because their air launch isn't dead yet...
3. Six Flags, they'll just beat it themselves...
or 4. Nobody will care for another 10 years, when technology gets good enough to build these things easily.

^Number 4 sounds like reality.
^^ I'll take #2 for CP'08, please :)

Or #3. I swear I don't know anything!;)

Oh Yeah, and BPPB is trying as well...

I think it would be swell if parks would concentrate on rides that were generally fun.

I agree there, no doubt. I like coasters, but if every park spent the next five years concentrating on customer service, painting and maintainence, and flat rides/dark rides/water ride & parks, I would be non too happy.

But a really fun coaster would be great too, record breaker or not...

I still say SOMEONE should build the 720' double-rocket I mentioned a couple weeks ago ;)

"Life's What You Make It, So Let's Make It Rock!"
ya dannerman i liked that idea alot that would be so sweet. 260mph. pullout that would be ausome. talk about record breaking

Once You Feel the Force You Will never Be The Same
I agree w/Jeff. Fun is always good.

I thought BPPB already announced that theirs was only a little over 200'?

S&S thrust airs are worse than L-TH-B rockets. They look and sound like carny rides, they have worse uptimes than rockets, the trains are bulky, restrictive and short, capacity is low and above all that they're an absolute eyesore.

#3 is a very outside possibility, #4 is moreso, but I think you're missing #5 which is the most likely - someone overseas will break it with either a rocket or a technology that's currently in development.

I predict CP won't regain the height record or most rides record for quite some time...and even the dorks will stop caring.

Okay, most of 'em.

Half?

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Brett, I'll be interested to see how the new SDC coaster goes over, and what it looks/runs like....I have a feeling S&S may have made some *drastic* improvements over the first-gen models...

bill, who really liked H:XLC, and (not having TTD'd) thinks it still had the most *kick* of any launch I've ridden...

I guess I'll wait and see on it, but from that one animation I saw, it looked a little better, it didn't look as ungainly as Hypersonic looks. I've just never been a fan of anything S&S puts out. Always seems to me they're like second fiddle to Intamin - same concepts, different execution, half or less of the fun. That applies to drop towers and launch coasters. And Intamin's designs look much better, they're very flowing and almost artistic, minimal support structure, whereas it seems like S&S does all they can to cram in as much support structure as humanly possible. While it's a minor thing, the aesthetics of a ride play into my opinion on it.

I will give you that the air launches have the most kick!

Impulsive, I think you're maybe thinking of Thorpe Park's rocket they "announced" that was just barely over 200ft tall (mini version of Kingda Ka with that bunny hill in there).

And FYI, it's BPB (Blackpool is one word :)).

OMG I have a new sig!!!
