How Long Will TTD Hold Its Records?

It took decades to break the 200 ft. barrier, it took over another decade to break the 300 ft. barrier, but all of a sudden the height records are being broken left and right. In 2000, 4 height records were broken: SOB for wood, Goliath, then MF, then SD2000. Now, only 3 years later, here we are, up another 100+ feet. But the question is, will this one hold for a while for both height and speed?
Some people consider Superman:The Escape at SFMM a coaster and it's 400+ feet tall. That was put up in 1997 even before the Millennium Force was put up. I think TTD will never be topped b/c it has had so many problems with the launch system and a chain life coaster will cost too much for most parks to afford.

I think Deja Vu will continue to hold the record for most down time... ;) Honestly, I hope not long. Yes, it's fast, and yes, it's tall, but please someone in Vegas..... you have the money. Build a wonderful, tall, long Intamin Hyper/Giga/Whatever to wrap around your casino. I would be honored to visit your fine establishment. :)

Oh come on Nasai, you know you'd rather see something involved with the space needle. ;)

I rode the High Roller over 1000 feet about the Vegas Strip but the ride only had like a 15 ft. drop. I heard a rumor of a drop ride sceduled to drop down the side of that tower.

Wow that would be intense, a 1000 foot drop. But anyway S:TE was the tallest for 6 years.

It's not a full circuit though ;-)

Who hasn't heard these rumors? Janfrederick, yes, the space needle would indeed be my dream, but it'd never be running given the torrential downpours in the winter. ;)

Well, seeing how there are only 2 coasters besides TTD that are even over 300 feet, I think it'll be a while before we see another 400 footer. Either that or the giga coaster will be passed up, and everybody will make stratas. My guess is TTD will hold the records for 5 years.

Its not a coaster, It is a "thrill Ride". SFMM canmake up any BS they really want, But truth is...No other park gives a damn. I do recall that SFMM said that Goliath was the tallest at one time.

Anyway, I see TTD holding the recrod for a couple of years, I dont see any parks going that high. But who knows...Maybe another Japanese park will go higher.

How long before CP decides to spend another 25-40 Mil? Thats when...

Why?

Hehehe, Right on! It be cool for them to have a double world record for having two of the tallest in the world and 3 coasters tallest in the US.

So thefore Big D, Impulse Coasters (like V2) and DejaVu aren't roller coasters, they are thrill rides because they aren't full circuts either. It's not just MM that considers STE a Roller Coaster, any database site considers that a Roller Coaster. Another type is Shuttle Loops. They aren't full circut and they are considered roller coasters.

Who: Man
What: Can now fly
When: 2003
Where: SFGAm
Why: For A Fast-Paced, Heart Pupming Energy Rush
How: On S:UF !!!!

I didnt say its not a coaster because its not a complete circuit. I said it because it doesnt have any elements. Its just like any of the first generation drop rides...And no those are not considered coasters so why should S:TE be considered a coaster, Just because its tall?. Something that rolls on a track doesnt exactly mean its a coaster.

But, thats my opinion...I'm done.

I dunno it may,but if it's that easy to just add another 100 feet to a ride other parks might catch on.IMO I dont think it will last more than 2-3 years.

1-Drachen Fire
2-Volcano
3-Flight of fear
4-Alpengiest
5-Apollo's Chariot

I think it will last till something bigger comes along;)

c'mon, someone else on here had to be thinking the same thing. But seriously, When MM or CP or some other park wants to blow a few mill and build one, they will. Heck, it only took CP like 2 years to go another 100 ft. in the air, and that's probably cause of Steel Dragon. If a Park has the $$$ and wants a record, it will happen as soon as both the park and the man. come together. Could be next year, could be 10 years, there's not really any way to gauge.

R.I.P. King Cobra @ PKI 1984-2003. You Will be missed...:(

Ah, the CP vs. SFMM rivalry on this website got quiet for a while...is it coming back? I hope not. The main reason why I don't like Superman holding the record is because even though the tower is 415 ft. tall, the car doesn't ever go that high. It varies every time it launches, so there's no way to determine a definite drop height. There.

Linear Gale, anyone? :)

It's all a matter of opinion. Personally, I think Superman is a coaster. Others disagree -- to each their own.

As much as I love Blackpool, a Thrust-X would give me reason to NOT go ;)

Arena football has arrived in the Windy City. Go "Chicago Rush"

I think the record will last at least 3 more years, but who knows...

And with the STE debate, I find it funny that SFMM calls it a coaster, and Intamin called it a coaster...
...BUT, Goliath was the tallest and fastest coaster on earth when it opened. What does that say?
