Holiday World 2015

Naaah. It's not as though anyone from Holiday World would be paying any attention to this thread... 8-)

I know Paula is on here, but I was thinking maybe they had all these clues written up before hand and just following daily. Not sure if they're coming up with them daily.

RavenTTD said: Intamin hits more than a couple out of the park.

Intamin has had some home runs. Millennium Force, Expedition GeForce, Bizarro, El Toro, T Express, Balder, Colossos, Storm Runner and maybe Maverick, even with the track modifications.

Notice that T Express was their last home run hit back in 2008.

That is one heck of a slump they're in. They struck out with i305 (design/mods) and Skyrush (restraints) with the bases loaded.

They're usually swinging for the fences and most recently have been going down looking like a lumber jack.

Most of the top companies in the world are there because they constantly improved. Intamin has regressed to the point where they can't even get the fundamentals of the game down, like boats that float or stay upright for example.

Intamin has some of the best airtime machines and B&M has most of the best inverting coasters. What is it that HW is missing in a coaster?

Question: Is Zumanjaro the only Intamin Installation in the U.S. this year? I'm to lazy to look it up. LK posted a very well written TR on SF:GrAdv where he stated that he was told that it would not open till around mid July. So, they have the only major Intamin installation that will open very late and looks like it will keep Kingda Ka's up time down as a result. Way to go Intamin. Another satisfied customer. It's a good thing that there are a lot of parks being built or growing overseas because Intamin has been burning a lot of bridges in America. I hope they can get it together, but they have given many reasons to doubt them.

Another Baseball Metaphor:

Intamin steps up to the plate to build the worlds tallest, fastest water ride; Pilgrims Plunge.

Strike One: We understand working with Intamin wasn't an enjoyable experience.

Strike Two: Where is that wall of water; or decent splash for that matter?

Strike Three: This thing isn't even close to being reliable.

Bowling Strike: A ride at CP with similar mechanics from the same manufacturer just had a boat capsize.

You're Out!

A quick clarification is in order: What happened on Shoot the Rapids was NOT a capsize, it was much worse. It was a lift hill failure of the sort that ride engineers have been explicitly protecting against since at least 1910. The boat tipped over because it ran aground at the bottom of the hill.

When I think of Intamin, I think of dangerous rides that injure people. I think of the video of the kid and his dad at Knott's and how terrified they were. And the very graphic story I read online about the young girl who's leg was severed off by a loose cable in Kentucky. It described the smell of burning flesh and the severed member falling through the sky onto the ground below.

The word Intamin should give me happy memories, like Millennium Force and Wicked Twister in the rain; best rides I have ever had. Or Maverick. What a great ride. But it doesn't. It reminds me that my life or well-being could be in danger when I board one of their rides. ThighCrush, I mean Skyrush, hurts my legs so bad I wont even ride it anymore. I will never ever ride in the front seat of an Intamin cable-launched coaster because of fear of getting sprayed in the face with shards of metal.

Is it true that Intamin has the worst safety record in the industry? What about the worst uptime?

Can Holiday World afford to go with this company again? Are they looking at uptime and safety when shopping for a ride manufacturer?

^^Dave - didn't Gillian's pull an epic fail on that same safety device some 15 years ago, with much more serious consequences...? They're call anti-rollbacks for a reason...

The other intamin us installation, as mentioned, for 2014 is a drop ride not yet open in Florida...

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Thanks for the clarification Rideman. I was misinformed. I thought that the boat turned over while entering the lift. That is much worse.

After being a ride op at Holiday World, I know for a fact that the number one principle they follow, is Safety, Safety, Safety. They have a great record of always keeping guests and employees safe. Looking at Intamin's track record definitely isn't the most comforting thing in the world. Knowing Holiday World, they wouldn't dare touch that Swiss company with a 49 1/2 ft pole. Another principle they went by was capacity and uptime. If a ride was down, Immediately within 5 minutes usually, they would be on the problem and half way down fixing said problem. I could always see the frustration in the maintenance team's expressions whenever Plunge would go down, because it was constant, repetitive, and a major struggle. I have the hardest time just stepping into an Intamin ride honestly. Getting struck by frayed and torn apart cables, or rolling down a hill backwards only to capsize, does not sound fun to me... at all...

You've been here for 11 days, and you're already a pompous douche. I really don't think I have any reason to "go easy" on you or cut you any slack. If you want to act like a bag of D's, then I'm going to reciprocate.

Whoah there Nellie. Someone's a bit cranky. Please tell me when I've been a "pompous douche." I joined this site because:

1. I'm an enthusiast and enjoy communicating with others who do too.

2. I can literally drive down the street and check on some progress on the whole Holiday World 2015 situation, and let you guys have a man in the field.

I don't think I've intentionally tried to disrespect anyone. At all. But somehow, in your eyes, I'm boasting, and being a nuisance for simply giving my observations and opinions. But, yeah, PLEASE quote me on being a douche. I don't think anyone else here so far has had a problem with my opinions or thoughts. So once again, I invite you to source and cite me on these errors.

I would still like to see a Maurer-Sohne Launched X-train take it's spot in Holiday World, racing through the trees. From what I've seen out in the clearing, and considering where Plunge's station is (If it's incorporated.) It's gonna be fairly lengthy.

Day 31

When I look at the deck of the ship, I remind myself that this wood was once part of a towering tree. And I remind myself that we will one day see trees again when we reach the New World.

Considering that Maurer-Sohne's last 2 installations in the US (RRR at Universal and Undertow at Santa Cruz) were plagued with technical and construction issues and in the case of RRR, significant downtime - I can't see HW making an investment with them.
