Hershey Teasing 2008 Attraction

On Theme Park Review, there's a picture of a banner on the Western Chute Out tower saying "Approximate Wait Time From This Point 10 Months", so it's probably a safe bet to say that the new ride is going there.

I am sure if it was a coaster we will soon see marker for it.

People have already found the markers, and they're identical to the ones we found for Storm Runner back in the summer of 2003.

From what Comet Rider said I thought we were talking Intamin Zacspin but those trains are def. not like Storm Runner.

What am I missing?

Yea I'd go with a Maverick-like coaster as well...but we'll see...perhaps a Floorless Intamin?

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Soo... I was just told by a worker at Hersheypark that they were told they were getting rid of the Western Chute Out slides, and possibly cannon river rapids, putting the wild mouse where the slides were and putting in more waterpark attractions. :/ I hope its not trueee.

Given the success of the Boardwalk I'd think they'd want to expand that area next year.

The rumors that I had heard (mind you that is all the way in IL so lots can be "Lost in translation") was that the waterpark will be expanded into the area inside the train and rapids ride and that the rapids ride would be expanded somehow. Take for what that is worth. My only other guess is that the Wild Mouse in the center of Midway America will be moved to the location of the Western Chute Out slides.....again another rumor heard all the way in IL!

Considering a "perfect 10" is a surfing term for riding a wave perfect, I'd think water as well. The Boardwalk is just too popular.

Given that the Boardwalk is only a year old, I don't think that they would of planned on a major expansion for it already.

Actually, I think that Hershey has already come up with phase 2 and phase 3 plans for the Boardwalk and is just waiting to pull the trigger. Something outside the Boardwalk makes sense because that's going to be popular for the next few years without any new additions. I don't blame Hershey for wanting to move in a different direction while the waterpark is a hot item without anything new being needed.
RE: Rapids. In an article I read a few months with the new CEO of Herco (I forget his name), he mentioned that they are looking at the Canyon River Rapids and what they can do to make that area a bit more exciting.

I'll add my speculation... I believe they are going to be rehabbing Sidewinder... adding a second train on the track and calling it "Shock Trauma: The Ride"... or else they are going to be doing what I have been wanting a park to do for years... equip each of their cars on the "Fender Bender" bumper cars with a LIM drive. (or perhaps add a loop to the old Coal Cracker flume)

"Yes... well... VICTORY IS MINE!"
I work at hp and last year, when they were building the boardwalk, they had the fence up in midway america in July....if they haven't already started building, it can't be a boardwalk expansion. I can't believe that it's a coaster....if you look at history, every other year they had a major new ride...I can't imagine a coaster right after boardwalk (supposedly the biggest investment in park's history).
Comet Rider:

Keeping it to 08 - what kind of Intamin has a vertical lift but the same kind of trains as Storm Runner?

I even went though the list of Intamin rides on rcdb. Is it a type that was not built yet anywhere?

Re: Canyon River Rapids:

IF 09 is to see the above changes... basically that will remove the Rapids Ride as we know it. Is it that unpopular? A maintenance Nightmare? Or the victim of "bad planning" (I.E. no room for expansion) of the water park?

best bet is to look in England, China, Brazil, and Guatemala...
It might seem odd to not continue the boardwalk expansion but then again look at Stormrunner. That came out of nowhere. There was this one kid on here that revealed that Hershey would be getting an accelerator and the majority of people here thought he was talking nonsense. Hershey has done it before, they can certainly do it again...

But none of those have vertical lifts.

Assuming for the moment that Comet Rider does indeed know what's coming, his clues do not add up to any Intamin running today. Either he mis-worded the part about the vertical lift and meant traditional, non-launched lift, or he's got his train information incorrect. If it's the lift, then a multilooper, possibly with 11 inversions, would fit the rest of the clues. If he's wrong about the trains, then it could easily be a Zacspin, which would be somewhat similar to the Frequent Faller they had planned.

Of course, we don't know for certain if any of these clues are correct or not, so it could be something else instead. Doesn't matter to me much, Hershey is one of my favorite parks so I'd go back in a heartbeat, whatever the new ride turns out to be.

If I were Hershey I wouldn't understand the logic to adding another coaster with inversions this soon after Storm Runner. Not that it's impossible, I just don't see why they would. Maybe it's just me.
Seriously Comet Rider....I'm sure that most of us have read screamscape... how is it that you are so sure of what's happening when??!! I've been online everywhere and the only place I've found interesting info (rumor) is screamscape.

Comet Rider has proven to be trustworthy in the past. ;)
