Hersey park's new coaster lyout revealed!

I think the looks an awful lot like an immelman with an exaggerated (almost swooping) exit. The half-pretzel idea seems feasible too, but that just screams immelman to me.

I thought Immelmans were only for inverts and obviously since they have Great Bear it wouldn't be an invert although it seems very feesible to do an immelman on a flyer because it it hangs under the track. I think an immelman would be awesome on a B&M flyer cause they really need some diversity in inversions and layout and personally I hope its a B&M flyer because I'd like to experience one that's more interesting than S:UF. If it is a rocket than I most certainly will be making a trip as well because TTD was the most incredible 17 or 16 seconds (whatever it is) of my life and it certainly will be more convenient than CP because my family actually wants to go to Hershey. But I still probably will be visiting if its either of those coasters in 04!

I wouldn't get too caught up in trying to figure out what that element is, it might be something no one is expecting. It's an early, rough rendition of what the coaster will do. Might try focusing a bit more on what the *entire* layout does, that provides a much better clue...

The announcement is only several weeks away. We'll know for sure. Its not a rocket or flyer. What coaster does Dorney have that Hershey doesn't? That is the answer.

Yes, but it will be the first looping monrail!

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Too me that mess at the bottom looks an awful lot like Raging Bull's second Hammerhead, the one after the fake Stengal Dive and before the Midcourse. Although the point at the end of it throws that off.

Also remeber that the first SF Flyer that isn't S:UF is rumored for Fiesta Texas and is rumored to have a diving loop. It sure looks like that's what this could be.

I can't see a rocket coaster being built either. I would love to see something unique whatever the case may be, and certainly if these plans hold, that will come to pass.

Rob-who can't figure out why people can't spell probably. (it ain't prolly people... it just ain't!)

That is probably one of my biggest peaves, Rob.

Actually, so is the non-stop speculating and throwing around rumors about what a park's new coaster will be. But in this case, I will put my two cents in and say that I really can't picture Hershey building a hyper.

Oh come on - how can you make any judgement(s) as to the new coaster's identity based on this "layout" (if you even want to call it that). I will not engage in idle speculation (at least not yet), dammit.

I am not idly speculating! I'm speculating as a break from running around and planning a vacation. I'm relaxing and speculating at the same time, thankyouverymuch.

Y'know what'd be funny? If there were a helix around the Aquatic stadium that someone forget to draw :)

S:RoS (or Attracion de Acero in Espanol) is a floorless with an immelman. I'm pretty sure Wildfire also has an Immelman. It's not out of the question.

Well, according to ************ (and no I don't hold anything they say as fact), the park has claimed that something "Colossal" is coming in 2004. While a coaster name doesn't necessarily imply anything about what the coaster actually does, this statement makes me think hyper/junior hyper. I just can't see a flyer being "Colossal". At this point, it is too difficult to say anything for sure...C'mon August 5th!!!

How about a wood coaster with I-beam construction and an Immelman? ;) Come on Intamin!

Rob-who loves Mike, but loves even more the fact that he didn't spell peeved right! LOL! :)

Well, Rob Coker over at ThrillRide has stated that in an e-mail from the park, they stated that "Something COLOSSAL is coming in 2004". Rob also said that they used a "wild west" font for the pre-announcement, so it could have a possible wild west theme.

Well, it's in the frontier section of the park so it would have that type of theme.

Can't Sunday come any faster?!

Eric, who's still sticking by it being an Intamin rocket. :)

You know, the more I think about it, especially looking at the lame sketch, I firmly believe it to be a hyper(ish) type ride. Out and back. Since the overhead show virtually no turns, it looks as though the turnaround is an Immelman(ish). :) Just a second glance made me go that way.

Rob - who says the layout is too boring overhead to be anything else.

Following the sketch, I really don't see how a coaster, using a traditional lift, would be over 80 feet. If you've been to Hershey, you know how small that area is.

Yes, but if you have been to HP, then you will know that after that first left hand turn, the "course" goes down into the ravine...not sure how far that drop would be, but the addition of the lift hill followed by the drop through the ravine could put it near the hyper range (or 195 ft if that rumor was correct)

The ravine would only make the drop 20-40 ft. longer. Plus, it would have to be 195 ft. in height, not in drop length.

Edit: I asked the guy who's in charge of mantinence at Hershey, and he said it's an Intamin rocket, half the size of TTD (which would put it in the 195 ft. range). He then said it was a risky investment, but they're hoping to get an edge on the competition in the area. Believe it or not, I don't really care.
