Hades @ Big Chiefs

(edit: this is in response to moosh)

Yeah, but I could not photo deeper due to the light even though you can see it. The track did not go much further than you can see in the pic when I was there, but it would be a hard shot to take even from in the tunnel with the light changing so much. I wanted to see the angle on the change to the landing and how far up it goes from the turn to the landing. You can sort of tell how far up it goes, and I don't think it is a very sharp angle, but it will be very fast. Should be a great time. *** Edited 4/27/2005 10:39:22 PM UTC by RavenTTD***

Pictures of Hades tunnel are slammin' though the tracks look a tad close-It may be the photo?

Went to ride Avalanche-those turns are heavily banked like Hades. Loved it.

Hades-Got To.

Now wait...checking my memory...Hades is being built in a park with "ride at your own risk" and "park has no insurance" signs posted. Insane. Could be some bloody noses coming out of the tunnel. These tunnel pics are enough to make me wish I'd waited a year later to go to Mt. Oly. than last summer.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

Maybe Thrillerman you will just have to come back to Mt. Olympus! ;)
Fa-schweet. I'm so glad we have a coaster in WI worth goin' to. Not that the others aren't good, but I'm not banging down $7 to ride any of the others.

...arms up, legs out, now SCREAM!...

LadyBrett - Avalanche is worth the $7 per ride at least IMO. It really was that good for me. It may have topped Raven for me.
Avalanche is worth a wrist band and about 20-30 rides....in each seat. The second half of last season they had evening wrist bands starting at 5PM for about $14 I believe. It was a great deal for that ride, and Avalanche did top Raven for me. It is like Phoenix with air on every hill, except all the air is really good in every seat so it blows away Phoenix too. The only other coaster I can think of that has that much quality air in every seat is Thunderhead which is my number one. The only other coaster I rank above Avalanche is Shivering Timbers, but on that you have to be in the right seats at the right time of day. Avalanche gives a 4 star ride in the middle seats in the morning.

As for the "no insurance" signs, I have heard of them, never seen them, but they would not surprise me.

Right, I'm too young, remember? Mooshing on Ghostrider was enough for me, I don't think I'd be able to handle the rest of you...

I bet you've never Mooshed on the SCBB Giant Dipper!!

BREAKING NEWS: (Maybe) A $99 season pass option is now available.

OF course, you'll have to deal with their award-winning website to find it...

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

That has been on the website for a while, and I called them about it. Even though the park is now open on weekends, you have to wait till Memorial Day weekend to use a pass. I was thinking of going now and getting some rides on Zeus, a pass, and some Hades shots, but since I cannot buy and use a pass now, I am going to wait. It is only good till Labor Day so you need to buy tickets/wrist bands for the bonus weekends late in the season.

I love the interactive map, it's a lot of fun. But is there anywhere on their site where they have the park hours posted?

Yeah is Good!
Five PlayaBucks to the first person linking us to the award they won!

As for the hours, the don't really have them. Play it by ear on weekends before Memorial Day and after Labor Day, and you should be able to count on 10-10 in the summer. *** Edited 4/28/2005 6:15:04 PM UTC by RavenTTD***

No Insurance.

Not that you guys care, but I guarantee you they have liability insurance. They just don't want to have to pay out, so they post a "ride at your risk" sign.

Smart. :)

The Flying Turns makes all the right people wet - Gonch

This is probably old news, but I have not been to Screamscape in a while and they have several "new" shots of the ride. One is particular is a drawing showing some theming that matches what is on the interactive map at the park's award-winning website. I hope they have the temple structure up for Memorial Day weekend as it looks really cool and might help keep light out of the tunnel.
The temple structure near the road went up several weeks ago. I have not yet seen any such structure around the first drop, though.

-Nate

I bet they would not put up the one around the first drop till they are done working inside the tunnel. That one looks like it is more of a light blocker and that side is the entry to the tunnel for the workers. If anyone can get any shots of the new themeing, that would be great.
