Hades @ Big Chiefs

I was just thinking how nuts it would be to pass the other train inside the tunnel if they could actually get them synched. I dont even know if they are installing more than one train or if there is a mid course block to allow it, just fantasising.
No midcourse, and (I believe) one train.

Personally, that picture terrifies me. I'm not going to judge the ride before I've ridden it, but taking bunny hops like that at 65mph doesn't sound pleasant.

Taking bunny hops like that reminds me of the start to Boss, but hopefully with more air. I am pretty sure there is just one train, and even if there were two, they could not both be in the tunnel at once. They only way the could run two is using the station/lift as a block since the ride has no midcourse.

8.3 - Hades will only be running one 20-person train.
I don't care how many trains are running, as long as this thing is open Memorial Day weekend.

I'm so excited for this coaster that I've thrown together a Wisconsin trip over that weekend. I've been wanting to go, and Hades is the one that's going to get me there.

Add that to my first trip to SFGAm, and it's looking to be a great trip. Too bad at this point that it's just me and my friend Herb making the trip. But I can get him to do anything. ;)

Your post... reworded to form my opinion:

Personally, that picture terrifies me. For as totally wrong and painful as that looks, I'm going to trust in GG's engineers and say that taking bunny hops like that probably won't be pleasant... it'll probably be absolutely nuts.

After riding the Lost Coaster, and then seeing the Gravity Group trying to push sales of similar rides, I lost faith in the judgement of their engineers.

Incidentalist, don't forget to ride Avalanche if it happens to be open during your Wisconsin Dells trip. That coaster at Timber Falls is an excellent woodie in its own right, and you don't have to buy a full day pass to ride it, they sell indiviual tickets for it!

I've been working on my Dells trip myself, with 2 weddings to attend, a grandparents 50th anniverssary, I've pushed my Dells trip well into July or August, but might make a quick stop to ride Hades the week after memorial day when I go to Valleyfair.

RavenTTD - Yeah, that bunny looks just plain wrong to me too--but your reminder about Boss' double-down is valid. Technically it's rideable...but in the dark without warning?

My prediction: Lights on by July after several dozen bloody noses. There. I have spoken.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

At least they don't have to worry about their liability insurance...;)
I think the tunnel would be cool with smoke and orange/red lighting to give it a "Hellish" look. :)

It is interesting that enthusiasts are getting a bit worried about the ridablity of this thing. I think I am going to love it, but I have never been more worried that a ride is not "GP-friendly". We will have to wait and see on the air those bunny hills produce because those shots can be deceptive. Take a look at this Hades shot:
http://www.rcdb.com/ig2667.htm?picture=35
Looks like air, right? Now look at the same hill again:

It does not look so sharp now that the camera does not have 2D working against it. You really can't tell what those bunny hills will feel like till you ride, and I think they should be safe. I'm hoping for strong floating air which will be a lot of fun in the dark at that speed, but should not cause any problem. Also, incase any of you don't know, in both tunnel pics the right track is the out run and the left is the return. That means that that Stengel Dive looking bunny hill should be taken at a bit slower than 65.

Having said that, I would like to quote a wise man who once said, "This [ride will] stomp so much a$$ that they [will] have to import colons from other countries to meet the demand."

I still can't wait. :) *** Edited 4/18/2005 3:51:10 PM UTC by RavenTTD***

The problem with ridability on Lost Coaster had nothing to do with the engineering, but rather the construction and maintenance.

Maybe, but when wheels are leaving the track to navigate drops because they are too sharp (and then slamming back down afterward), it concerns me.

I don't know how often woodies get rollbacks, but the thought of a rollback off the turnaround into a 90 degree banked turn in PTC's makes me wonder if Hades will clear the turnaround with a little extra speed to prevent that possibility. Keep in mind the climb into the turnaround should be a large double up.
I haven't read this entire thread, so pardon me if this has been brought up before, but....

Has anyone thought about how incredibly noisy it will be in that tunnel as a train goes through (especially considering the walls are plain old concrete)? I would think it would be deafening.

In either case, gawd I'd love to ride this thing...looks awesome!

perhaps that is what all the attachment points in the tunnel will be used for - acoustic dampeners... I just don't think that they would put that many lights in the tunnel. But, I have had wrong guesses before.

Here's another pic from inside the tunnel, and it's AMAZING. The banking is absolutely insane.

OMG! OMG! OMG! I CAN'T WAIT!
That just isn't right!
