Green Vekoma track settles in the snow at Six Flags Ohio

Posted | Contributed by Chip Wood

Sure looks like Vekoma to me!

All kinds of pics and even a bit of speculation about the ride's name and theme. If there were any doubts that a Flying Dutchman would be dropped into Northeast Ohio's Six Flags representative, you can snuff them out now.

It's all but official, and you can check out all the pics and info by heading over to Refreshinglook.com.

Coasterr, Six Flags Holland has a vekoma wooden, a vekoma boomerang, and a vekoma SLC.
someone here has posed a good question... we all have come to know them as flying dutchman coasters but where did this name come from?!?
Six Flags Mexico and Wild Adventures each have 3 Vekoma coasters, and Jazzland, Paramount's Canada's Wonderland, and Six Flags America will all have 3 next year. Six Flags Holland currently has 4.

Chip wrote: The fact that SFinc. has completely over-used the Riddler theme lends much credibility to this particular guess at a name.

I have to disagree. I can only think of one coaster that has Riddler in the name. I know Mindbender at SFoG was re-themed with the green question marks like Riddler wears, but the name never changed. But I do agree that Riddler will probably not be the theme for this coaster. I really like the chances of it being either Green Lantern or something to do with Kryptonite.

I still have my money on
"Kypton Comet"
the green color looks to electric, to neon to be riddler involved, and it really wouldn't make sense anyway. *** This post was edited by ravenguy98 on 12/28/2000. ***
I'm having dreams of 'The Matrix'. Don't laugh. It's a Warner Bros. movie and the track color somewhat supports that. Anyway, I hope they stay away from the superheroes/villians on this one and go with something original, but, then again this IS SF we're talking about, so probably not. They usually save the original names for their woodies.

I just wanna take the red pill to stay in Wonderland, is that so wrong?

They should call the new ride Anaconda, center it around a murky jungle with weird jungle noises, plants and trees. Have the line start off as a voyage to find the mammoth snake then once you get to the coaster, you find it and experience its wrath.
Anaconda...Takes your breath away

Yes CP is Arrow heaven! In reply to Anaconda, I think a great coaster already bears this name! :D

If this new thing is the Matrix.......wonder how they will do that 3D slow-motion camera move thingy! OK so the seats won't rotate around each other. Just think....a Tornado car chassis hanging from the track!

First rule of Stormtroopers: Pee BEFORE you put on the uniform!
It will be called X--Flight
Announcement is still Jan. 4th
For sure it is a VEKOMA FLYING!
how do you know it will be January 4th, just wondering
When we see the color of the cars, we will be able to get a better guess at the name.

As far as a DC theme:

Yellow Cars = Green Lantern
Black Cars or lighted Green = Riddler
If we see Grey It will be DOOMSDAY

I would prefer to see DOOMSDAY more than any other due to the fact that IT is a new villain NOT old. I don't mind Green Lantern. IF they go with Lantern then You can see a Justice League Theme coming out. If You use Doomsday Then You get a Hero vs. Villain. If You go with a riddler you just get a stupid overused them.
And SIX FLAGS Likes to use hero vs Villain theaming.

If Only Astrowold wasn't a recycling complex!
We found out January 4th because all you have to do is call SFO and wait for the SFO operator and ask when the announcement will be. You can even call them at 330-562-7131
ARROW GUY TK173-- Did you see any of the photos from IAAPA showing the new car designs for the Caripro monorail coaster...the iFlyer? One of the car options is the "GyroFlyer" which...you guessed it...looks like a Wisdom Tornado tub mounted on a coaster chassis. :)

I don't care what they call it, i'm just glad i don't have to trek out to California to ride a Vekoma FD.....Anyone hear of any other FD's to be introduced for 2001?
To answer several of the statemwnts posted here, we should be happy that they are bulding anything. They could have always just done the usual pathway and other infastructuire enhancements, but they decided to add a coaster in addition to the otherstuff. Also, X-something and Kryptonite Comet sound like the most likely names.

Everybody calm down, the coasters do not open for another fifteen minutes.
Cool.....thanks Dave! Now that I think about it, I did see them. WOW!

!!!FOR ALL OF YOU KEEPING TABS ON THE CONSTRUCTION!!!

Watch the go carts, Hydes and Yo Yo, if these are removed then that will determine of how far they re-route Geauga Lake Road. (GL Rd. is to be moved at the end of next season, but re-routed during the summer)
Why would it be an SLC? Doesn't the park already have one of them? If it is a FD, I wonder if it will be identical to the other one being built at SFA?
Britneyguy not to be rude but SFO already has a SLC, the Serial Thriller. Sfo already has a boomerang too, the Mind Eraser. So I don't think its going to be a invertigo or anything like that. It has just got to be a FD just got to be.
