Great first drops under 200ft

A handful come to mind. Gemini and Phantom's Revenge have been said already and I agree.

I'll add Raptor to that. You have to love the swoop.

Also Cheetah at Wild Adventures. It feels much steeper than it really is when you're on the ride. Pretty good for a drop that's under 100 feet!

Alpengeist is pushing 200', but it still counts. B:KF is up there as well, and I agree with Vortex. Before all of the braking, I would have said Mean Streak.

I still love the Beast, though. Maybe because it was the first coaster I ever rode that I was truly scared by, but that first drop still gets me. I still want to put my hands down every time.

Doesn't it seem as though morons always have the caps lock on?

Cornball Express in the back literally rips you out of your seat.

Steel Eel at Sea World Texas. Also Wildfire, Dueling Dragons and the Legend.

The Beasts drop off the second chain lift is by far the greatest moment I've experienced on a coaster.  The Villains first hill has massive airtime if you're in the back, and it's third hill has a wicked little twist to it.
I would have to say Lightning Racer.  I just really like the curving first drop.  Also I would have to say Great Bear.  The helix right before the drop and then dropping right over the midway add to the thrill.
My votes go to Kraken and Lightning Racer (is's not verticle, but it sure as heck looks like it from the top!).  Also, an honorable mention to Hersheypark's Comet.  Love that drop over the creek.
I think Schwartzkopf did the best first drops, myself. They were vicious even on the Wildcats.
Loch Ness Monster's dive on the river is pretty cool
Another vote for Wildfire in the back,if you like air the entire way down(and who doesn't? ).
Spacecase, Demon's drop rocks! There's tons of air on that little drop. It sets the tone very well.
I would have to say Viper at SFDL. Now granted it is only something like 80 feet it always gives me that "butterfly tickle" feeling in my stomach.

Where has the magic gone in the name Disney?

A "butterfly tickle," huh? Interesting...

Is it the roar of Kumba or the kumba of Roar? Discuss!

Vortex, Beast, and Gemini all have a great first drop

"Speaking of which (while we're on this topic).  Are there any other coasters whose biggest drops aren't the first."

The Screamin' Eagle @ SFStL is like that. The first hill is 89 (or 87) feet but the thrid hill is 93 feet

Besides, if we were really shutting down people we disagreed with, would Jeremy (2Hostyl) still be around? :) I think not. - Jeff 1/24/02

I'd have to say SF Astroworld's Texas Cyclone. . .It always stands out in memory of having an amazing first drop.  I don't know if it's the fact that I grew up going to that park, or what. . .but it's great none-the-less.

I've got a nice long list...  Villain, Twisted Sisters,(both sides) Beast, Raven, Vortex@PKI, Steel Phantom/Phantom's Revenge, Roar@SFA, Raptor, Kumba, Dueling Dragons, Montu, Viper@SFDL, BKF, Medusa@SFGAdv., Legend, and Thunder Run.  Pretty long list but all either have twisting drops, airtime, or both at the same time.

Though many people hate the ride, Viper at SFGAdv has a GREAT first drop that is not high at all.

Hmmmm...I would have to go with X...even though I've never ridden it, lol.  I mean, flipping so you're facing the ground and hurtling at it at an 87 degree angle has GOT to be an awesome experience!

SAVE INVADER ZIM!
I honestly enjoy the drop of Shockwave @ SFGam. Especially in the back car. Demon's drop is also very good.
