Glossary

Surprise! :)

I didn't intend to put it up so soon either, but it was readable, and I had run it through the spell check (obviously it misses homonyms and other grammar) but I thought it was ready enough to start getting feedback on. Again, I was surprised at how much Brent (or Brent in the form of Jen - what are you, the SuperTwins? ;)) actually got accomplished on it so quickly.

Hope y'alls fireworks didn't get rained out where you're at!

Two things:

1) Set the cell properties to put the text at the top of the cells.

2) Add some shading or borders to differenciate between rows.

Otherwise, it's pretty rockin.

Great job, guys! This is the first definitive coaster glossary I've seen. The definitions are easy to understand, and they make great sense too.

If you'd like another person with copy-editing experience to look at it before publishing, let me know...I sent you an e-mail.

Wildfire has an Immelman aswell. For some reason I keep thinking that there is another,

Great Bear.

Also, as a former editer of a high school newspaper I've got a little editing experience too. If you need another set of eyes just give me a shout out!

One correction-

Helix- A constant turn that turns the ride at least 270 degrees

As I've always understood it, a helix also constantly changes altitude.

The glossary is looking pretty good. I'm sure many people will eventually read this and catch on with the lingo. Good job!
John, we were referring to non inverts that have Immelmans. As you well know Great Bear is an invert ;)

Fireworks that can spell OSU? Not that IS an achievemt, esp. considering they could *never* get Katzenmoyer to spell OSU correctly...;)

Brent, all I heard was "blah blah blah Great Bear blah blah blah" ;)

But, yes, you're right. You were referring to non-inverts with Immlemans (Immlemen?). Help me remember: does Riddler have two dive loops, two Immlemen, or one of each?

Two dive loops.

What do I Listen-To?
I waited for 7.5 hours through four tornado warnings and all I have to show for it is this lousy kiddie coaster credit.

Not to bring up old topics but I was just wondering how the glossery is doing? Is it up and I am too stupid find it or did it fade to the way of the wind?

I was just looking at it myself, and though of another entry for the "Rides" tab:

If the non-invert immelman thing didn't get resolved (I'm too lazy to go hunting), S:AdA at WBMW Madrid is a floorless with an immelman.

Bump...

At long last... it is 99% finished (use my link in the signature to get to it). Sorry for the delay - life gets in the way sometimes :). I finally got the finishing touches on it in the last couple of weeks. Thanks for everyone's help, especially MagnumForce and ChernaBog for their extra work, and RideMan for the original acronym and definition list

If you have any suggestions like nitpicky spelling/grammar goofs, let me know at glossary@funtimeventures.com .

Just thought I'd let you know that I don't know what program it requires, but it doesn't work on Mac OS X 10.3.

Until it gets integrated into this site, it requires IE 6 to work (perhaps some other browsers might work too - not sure).

If you're using a *normal* IBM-compatible PC, you're gonna need IE6 sooner or later anyway. Too many programmers seem to have tired of working in Netscape....(unfortunately, our main programmer is typically behind the curve, and still insists on using Netscape).

It does keep my entertained at work though, de-bugging code so it will work for everyone else....ROFL. Not so busy I can't spend considerable time entertaining/irritating all my friends on the buzz, though...:)

bill, still hasn't given up the fight to get WA listed as an *official* acronym....Danny agrees....;)

I am using a PC with an IBM CPU, and it is a Mac! I hate Windows, and I am very happy that I finally have a Mac to call my own. Windows just has too many problems and is too annoying.

Anyway, I prefer Safari to IE. Only thing that really bothers me in Safari is no print button. Otherwise, it is one of the best browsers I have ever used. (That and Netscape 4.)

XP isn't perfect, but it never crashes on me. Most system crashes are caused by crappy 3rd-party software in Windows.

When it comes to crashes, I have even crashed OS X. I can't remember if I have crashed xp though, since I am not a religious user. I just have a tendancy of crashing computers. My biggest issue of XP is how annoying it is. I want to be the one that is annoying, not my computer!

Anyway, keep up the good work on the glossary. A suggestion would be to save it as a plain .xls so I could open it with Excel for Mac.
