Glossary

I'd gladly work on this project too. I have some free time availiable.

Missing the Fallen:
King Cobra 1984-2001
The Bat 1981-1983

The original plan was that the bulk of the project would be completed first, then posted to the board for feedback, additions/corrections, etc. (it just seems easier and a little more organized that way).

Amazing what you can do on a day with no work. The list is now done except for some minor photo links and such.

Thanks to MagnumForce's amazing speed in filling-in all the blanks and adding some info, I hope to have the first version of this ready for Jeff to look at hopefully by the weekend. While he works on getting the info converted for this site, I'll see about posting a version on my site so that everyone can add comments/suggestions/corrections. I'll post the URL when I get it on there.

Big time props to MagnumForce... Thanks!

A beta version is now posted on my site (www.funtimeventures.com/coasterbuzz) along with a few old pictures created for this site. The glossary is in .mht format and loads in the browser, so a few of you may have problems...sorry about that. You can send suggestions to glossary@funtimeventures.com.

Rock on. Keep it in that two-column format, and when you think there's enough to go on, I'll think about some way to post it and make it searchable (not that it would be that difficult).

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

I just hope some of my definitions are understandable enough. I asked jen who is without a doubt not a geek like us and she seems to understand things pretty well so I think it should work out. Photos should clear up any confusion.

I sent JimmyBob the version before I checked over it so any typos are my fault.

I think I weeded out most of the typos, but I'm sure I'll be seeing emails about all of them :)

Jeff, actually there is a 3rd column on the glossary page that hasn't been filled in yet (for links to pictures)... perhaps I'll just hyperlink the terms themselves instead. That might actually work better.

For the Hypercoaster definition, shouldn't it also say any coaster that has a drop in excess of 200 ft., because PR is considered a hyper but it does not exceed 200 ft. in height.

You guys just couldn't keep M:TR out of there, could you? Its always interesting when a new member asks what it means.

Personally I put PR in the same category as Expedition Ge Force and Steel Eel. Neither has a drop over 200 feet or is over 200 feet tall.

In the book Roller Coaster by Mike Schafer and Scott Rutherford, a hypercoaster is defined as either having a height of 200+ ft. or having a 200+ ft. drop.

Since the "full version" has not been completed yet, I've got a suggestion. B:DK has a diveloop, not a immelman. I can think of atleast two non-inverted coasters that have them, so maybe you should just include the definition and a picture of the element for a better understanding.

I can't wait to see this implemented! Although it seems that the project is almost complete, I'll offer my assistance if you need/want it. I've got plenty of time on my hands :)

Did I say Batman? I meant Superman:Attracion del Acero. Damn superheroes on the brain.

What's the other one Corey?

-Jen (JDee)

Correct. Batman: The Dark Knight has a dive loop.

I always considered LSM to mean Linear Syncronous Motor, but I'll accept that I have no idea what I'm talking about.

The glossary tab is a little hard on the eyes. It's difficult to delineate where one definition ends and the next begins at a glance. Maybe in its final implementation, you can alternate the table background color?

Maybe a more appropriate definition for a sidewinder would be "Half of an Arrow Boomerang," seeing as B&M hasn't produced that element yet.

Change the comma after "There are two types of Top Hats," to a period.

Similarly, "Arrow's last independent design was X at Six Flags Magic Mountain problems with the ride forced Arrow to declare bankruptcy," makes no sense. Maybe, "Arrow's last independent design was X at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Problems with X forced Arrow into Bankruptcy."

(as if you couldn't figure that out on your own.)

Under B&M - "with there 4 wide seating," should read "their."

CCI - maybe "Their philosophy, bigger is not always better, brought us..." That's just a matter of preference. Later on again, "closed there doors," should read, "their."

Gravity group - "CCI Closing." Closing, of course, ought not be capitalized.

GCI - Mike Boodley. :) Later, "are not stop turns dips and hills" should be "non-stop turns, dips and hills." "GCI makes their own trains, as well, in the very popular Millennium Flyer." As it is worded now, it indicates that Millennium Flyer is a type of train produced by more than a single company. I'd add a comma after "currently" in the following sentence.

Yikes. Okay, I'm just realizing now how long this document is. If you're interested in these changes and want me to go over the entire thing and make changes (instead of just suggesting them), I'll play little ms. copy editor.

Let me know.

Hey folks... thanks for the comments so far... I will admit the thing is a little hard to look at right now (it's basically an Excel file converted to .mht format and this is temporary, as it will be formatted and added to CBuzz when it is "polished").

A reminder that you can also email suggestions/corrections to glossary@funtimeventures.com. Thanks, and Happy 4th!!!

(And can you believe, they have created fireworks that can explode in the shape of Ohio and spell OSU!?!?)

------------------
The signature you have reached, J-I-M-M-Y-B-O-B, has been disconnected. No other information is available.

Wildfire has an Immelman aswell. For some reason I keep thinking that there is another, but I can't remember.

As I said, blame me for the typos, I didn't intend that Jimmybob would put it up so soon. I was just sending it to see what he thought. I guess I should have specified that LOL.

BTW Jen's earlier post was me in the form of Jen, you would think that with different schemes on the page I could tell which one of us was logged on. I mean purple and green look NOTHING alike ;)
