I remember when Raging Bull was being built, things started in August, with the heavier construction coming in early September. And that ride was pretty much built on flat ground near a parking lot.
I'm thinking we're reading too far into that headline. I don't think there's going to be a new hyper sprouting up this winter at GL.

We know the Hook's Lagoon is coming this year. That means it is unlikely for any other water park improvements.
Bill Spehn said at CoasterCon that the park WOULD be getting a hypercoaster. (http://coastermadness.blogspot.com/2004/07/coastercon-part-2a-geauga-lake.html)
The only question is if that will be happening this year.
While a B&M hyper that close by would be nice, I'm not sure if it's really what the park needs - although it would bring in the people, and be a good place to start making the distinction between SFWoA and GL.
You know, the reason half of the water park didn't open this year is because it wasn't safe. I have a feeling that maybe that's why it wasn't pushed very hard this year in the marketing.
Regardless, with the inexpensive upgrade to my CP pass, I'm sure I'll be making a lot more visits in 2005.

I still think it'd be a good idea to contract out the Columbus or Toledo zoo (is Cleveland's zoo as well known as either of those two?) to come in and run the wildlife side. That way you get the benefit of the animals, but there's a company in there that knows what they're doing and knows what they're getting into. While a B&M hyper that close by would be nice, I'm not sure if it's really what the park needs - although it would bring in the people, and be a good place to start making the distinction between SFWoA and GL.
Cleveland Zoo is known as well as the Columbus Zoo, or better.
FAMILY Amusement park to me is affordable for the family to go, have enough to do to keep the ENTIRE family happy, and to listen to FAMILY's suggestions, not just coaster enthusiasts.
Until GL does these 3 things, I will not be going back.
...sorry, Bill, but 'Dad' isn't bringing his 'daughter' just so she can go and spend his money...'Dad' wants something fun to do himself! At least at CP, Dad can enjoy the resort part of the complex....how about asking 'Dad' what he wants at GL?
IMO, The 'Family' in this amusement park left because there were too many changes that us 'regulars' had to be go thru, plus the loss the animals and their animal participation shows, and the awesome non-animal shows left, the beautiful general scenery and atmosphere on the southside disappearing or being closed off, as well as missing family rides and the new height requirements that were odd in many cases (48" to be allowed to get wet behind the splash wall on Shipwreck Falls) GL closed too much not even related to the animals, and it's going to take more than the 'traditional' planning to get the 'family' back in. The 'ghosttown' (not to convey a Halloween atmosphere) I attended 2 weekends ago for 'The Haunt' proved just that, with shops and stores closing 1 hour early, cause the park was empty too early.

I'm not sure what the best option would be for the park. Between B&M and Intamin it would be much less unique for the region to build an Intamin hyper, and there may be some reliability/liability concerns with the company. If they choose B&M, its would be a more original approach since there are only like 2 B&M hypers in the country. Decisions, decisions...

Am I the only one who realizes to build a hyper in time for opening, a park must start some ground clearing/construction (*not* just "marking trees") by now?
Pffffffffffft. They had surveying marks for VF's SV by August--and that was half a coaster going up in a parking lot.
