GL Announcement Nov 10

BullGuy's avatar
I think the '05 additions will be general improvements to the park/waterpark. Maybe a flat ride at most, or some show. Beyond that, years down the line, I think a hyper will come if/when expansion to the former wild life side does happen.

"But should they go for a hyper, let's pray it's an Intamin and not a wheel-smokin', brake-rippin' Morgan."

Or another B&M sleeper...

Out of the three stateside B&M hypers, and S:ROS, I'd say the B&M's hold up well, and the public loves them.

I'd like to register and vote for new slides. GL is just too close to CP to draw people with large coasters. If you can't beat them, go a different route.

Down is the new up.
Like it being said above.. "The announcement you've been waiting for". A line that that isn't to annouce a flat or waterslide.

Seriously…. I think that if it is indeed a B&M hypercoaster, that it will probably be the best damn B&M hypercoaster (or twister… or whatever…) in the country… I’d prefer a B&M, especially since “Millie” is so close by… But still… can you imagine? Something of the caliber of “Raging Bull” or “Apollo’s Chariot” running along the shoreline of Geauga Lake.. pure bliss!
I would also tend to believe something big, but, wouldn't someone have noticed something in regards to town approval. Doesn't the town (is it Solon???) have a pretty good strangle hold on who, what, where, when, why and how if the park does something new???

Now, if WOF could only get an announcement for an announcement, that would make me happy.

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
IF it is going to be a hypercoaster, it should be a B and M hyper twister such as Raging Bull. Ohio already has an Arrow hyper and an Intamin 300 ft coaster, both basically with out-and back type designs (the out and back of Millenium has a bowtie in the middle).

A B and M hypertwister would be an original attraction for the area, and probably shift some business to the North as Geauga Lake and Cedar Point are close enough for a combination trip. Putting original rides in both parks would make those combination trips more likely.

Geauga Lake is also going to be transforming their Jukebox Cafe into a Johnny Rockets for the 2005 season. I work at a Corporate owned Johnny Rockets in Strongsville, OH and there are two new stores opening in Ohio soon. A Corporate store near Toledo and a Franchise inside Geauga Lake.

"Ignore the screaming in the woods...Everything is fine! This is your last chance to escape the wrath of.... THE BEAST."

OK, everybody pray with me:

Please, God, make it a hypercoaster. And please give CF management temporary "Intamin Issues" amnesia so that it could be a clone or acceptable facsimile of Superman @ SFNE, because I'm not going to drive 12 hours to ride one coaster. And please do NOT make it a Morgan or other crappy manufacturer (although I did like Phantom's Revenge...)

Amen.

Sorry Dougie... but I rather it be a B&M. On the East coast, there's enough Intamin hypers already including Supermans' Rides of Steels (3 of 'em) & Millennium Force. It's like trying different varities of M&M's. Peanut, Crispy, Plain... they're all good, but they all generally taste the same.

Give me some Skittles, Something different. B&M Hypers seem to be a rarety, with Apollo's Chariot being the only East Coast Beemer I can think of.
If it's an original layout, it has a catchy name (possiby theme?), and looks like it'll grab a lot of public attention, then it's sure to be a winner.

I just hope that along with this, Cedar Fair will continue to improve the park & bring it up to par so it'll definately be worth visiting next year. Such things as possible paint jobs on the re-named coasters, or better signage/theming for the rides & a layout that doesn't look like a half-closed Worlds of Adventure.

What about Nitro? Can't Nitro get some love, too?

Certain victory.

Can't belive no one has said a 460 foot tall Rocket Coaster that goes 132 mph. ;)
Ok, here's what we know:

GL IS and has the approval for a hyper. The plans have carried over to GL from SFWoA. The SFWoA plans called for the station to be by the old aquarium, and then have the turnaround by the Ski Stadium. No other layouts have been submitted. But that doesn't mean that will be the layout.

There ARE and HAVE been trees marked along the wooded path for two years now between Happy Harbor and RWB.

MANY people think the station will be were Shark Attack is and possibly make an L shape around Happy Harbor and the wooded path.

The Giant Nets are now closed for the 2004 season "due to REFURBISHMENT" (many people think these were/are going to leave.)

You can now no longer reach MBT, or Pirates 3-D. They have that area roped off.

The park WILL be getting a new Hook's Lagoon. That has already been stated and deconstruction has already been taken place.

GL GM has already stated, 1) He wants a hyper. 2) The wooded path, according to park patrons, is long and boring. 3) Hook's Lagoon is cheaper to rebuild than to refurbish. 4) He/CF never realized how big of impact that animals had on the park.

The wooded path has been closed all year (with a few exceptions that they forgot to put the ropes up to block people from going down it ;) )

SOoooo with all that said:

A water expansion is something we already no about, and by NO means is something "We've been wating for."

Lately, the one question "We've been waiting for." is, "What in the heck are they going to do with the Wild Life Side?" That's one of the constant questins I here all around Ohio and outside of it.

The biggest question I here though is, "When are they ever going to build that big coaster they keep talking about?"

As for marketing:

GL, need I say, was nothing in crowds compared to previous years. The park needs A LOT of improvements to itself. But improvements by themselves (this time around). I don't think will help the park get back up. GL needs a icon, and improvements.

Judging from the state of Happy Harbor, the peeling paint everywhere, the closed buildings/arcade/Shark Attack, closed Water play structure, Overflooded Marsh/walkthrough, etc. I think it's VERY easy to say what is going to be done next year over in Happy Harbor.

New Coaster, and a new "world" to go with it.

I can give Nitro plenty of love. Give me that over a Morgan, Arrow or Intamin ANY day. A B&M hyper would be my choice for a new GL ride but I don't think anything close to that is going to happen for the 2005 season. Then again, I've been wrong before...
rob: they already got the WalMart.. it's across the street from the Park... just wish it were a 24 hr store...
of course, another walmart wouldn't hurt... i've already got 4 locations within 5 miles of my house...lol

Maybe they're gonna get some animals... i hope not, but you never know...
I don't think it's water slides.
Could be a hyper or maybe a giga...
a giga would not be impossible... 200 feet above ground going 100 feet below ground... Now that would be nice... how about a Hyper/giga going around the lake...

You HOPE not for animals? Man... if anything, I hope SO. Although no substitute for a world-class ride, it's definately something that EVERYBODY can enjoy no matter your age, size, or mentality... Even if it were a few of the exhibits like the reptile, aquarium or pengiun exhibits that were indoors, those were nice.

I'll definately take the hyper, but it'd be nice if they set a general themed area over there, and re-open up the nets refurbished for children AND adults (especially adults).

What would make this hyper be better than most others is if it has any plans to go below ground-level. Not much chance of it happening, but it would be nice if the tunnels were set below ground level.

What about those who feel that keeping the animals captive is wrong? I doubt they enjoy it.

...just being a jerk :)

I guess they never counted in the first place? ;)
