Cedar Fair has launched GeaugaLake.com. The company announced March 10 that it would acquire the park, formerly known as Six Flags Ohio and Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, from Six Flags.

The most interesting was Head Spin given to the Boomerang.

Anyone else let down by the choice of names.

Bahahahaha they did name S:UE Steel Venom.
Notice the new coaster names. As expected, the superhero-named rides, and the ones with common Six Flags names, got changed. The woodies and X-Flight remain untouched.

Strange choices here. But the names have been chosen like it or not. What is really interesting is on the Six Flags website, SFWoA still exists. Not much a surprise to me though on that one. ;)

Dominator is in "Power City" ?
I'm guessing Power City is their name for Gotham City.
Mindnumbingly awful and laughable new names. Predictably meaningless and themeless.

The names are allright, except for Dominator. Oh my...
Oh no! The coaster has a horrible name! I can never ride it again!

Anyways, CedarFair.com has also updated witha link to GeaugaLake.com

Maybe the coaster will be themed to Dominik Hasek. Although, with his ever-present groin injury, it would better suit a stand-up.
It looks like the Wildlife Midway will be partially open up to the Ski Stadium, including the Kiddy Carousel and Happy Harbor.
Hurricane Hannah's Waterpark? That's to funny!
For those of you that say I am never critical of Cedar Fair:

I think it is ridiculous and poor P.R. to not accept some of the tickets that might already be out there like the Read to Succeed program and folks who might have won W.O.A. tickets as prizes. While I understand the Season Pass concerns, these other issues probably don't amount to that many people in the big scheme of things.

If my Cleveland-area child had earned a ticket as part of a reading program, what is the likelihood that I am going to go all the way to Darrien Lake or Wyandotte Lake? Geez, just let the kids use the tickets; their parents will have to buy a ticket anyway and word will get out about the good thing you did. That is nickel and dime BS if you ask me.

I saw a question on if they should bring back Geauga Dog. I take it he was a mascot like Kenny the Kangaroo at Kennywood.
Fallen into the name-cloning business?

VF has had a Corkscrew, a Thunder Canyon and a Friar Tuck's long before they had a Power Tower or a Steel Venom...and VF was their first acquisition.

I don't know why they have to reinvent the wheel for people who live 700-900 miles away from each other.

Ha! Nice one Zuc! I like in X-Flight's description "virtually vertical with the ground". What grammatical genius came up with that one?

Hey overall, although they're recycled names, I'd prefer that over just chopping off the superheros. You gotta admit though, as standalone names, Dominator, Steel Venom and Thunderhawk are pretty cool names, and I can certainly see Thunderhawk more as a suspended (a plane) than a wooden.

And of course now I know what to do about my season pass. Wah-hoo.

I personally don't mind name-cloning... As long as they were good names to begin with and fit the ride for me.
