Gay Marriage at Cedar Point: Please help us!

So you are disliking me because of my religious beliefs?

That is unAmerican and much worse than racism. Guess what? I don't care. Sharing my thoughts was not noise, but I'm just worried that right after you die you will regret not listening to a "stupid Christian".

The fact that homosexuality has increased a lot recently brings the end times to my attention. As I've said earlier, the Bible has predicted that several things will happen before the rapture. Rise in homosexuality is one of them. That has happened along with many other things.

I've never wanted to have sex with another man more than I just did after reading this paragraph.

Why? Seriously, why?

So anyway, although I vehemently disagree with etrainimiac and others' misguided targeting of Cedar Point, I whole-heartedly support the campaign to change the law in Ohio. I'm not sure what enthusiasts can (or should?) do as a group to help make that happen, but I'd be all in for doing something constructive.

Tyler, I don't know if you are just instigating to get attention or what. Regardless, I recommend you stop. And since you like Christian music so much, as I do, I also recommend you spend some time with this one:

As Americans, we all have the right to free speech. What we don't have is the right to have anyone listen to what we say.

People disliking you because of your religious beliefs is not "much worse than racism," it's people exercising the civil liberties we all enjoy as Americans.

Right after I die, I will be dead and incapable of regret.

Because you made homosexuality sound so hot.

Carrie, God loves every sinner (all of us) equally. The thing that you don't get it that God sends no-one to hell. We send ourselves. The moment I could make choices in life (probably between 7 and 11) I chose sin. You did to. God is unable to send people to hell, but he is so loving that he gets people out.

I have tears in my eyes right now, and I swear it not from fearing the rapture.

Tyler, I'm a Christian, and I take the Bible as God's holy, unfailing word. I also agree that Christians need to stand by their beliefs and be more concerned about properly representing Christ and less about being popular.

However, by going all fire-and-brimstone, which is an approach I'm pretty convinced is wildly ineffective when used to try and witness to people, you seem to have blatantly ignored the fact that God loves everyone.

I think that a lot of Christians get mixed up in what messages are supposed to drive them to be better people and what messages work best when you're trying to share Christianity with other people. When I share my faith with other people, I try to share how Christ has made a positive impact on my life. I don't share my faith by saying that anyone who disagrees with me is hell-bound, especially because that makes me sound like a judgmental jerk who doesn't seem to remember that I need salvation as much as anyone.

This. Very much this.

And Tyler, you didn't start making choices in life until between ages 7 and 11? That really explains a lot.

Christ has made a positive difference in my life. also, i mentioned a lot about my need for Christ. I'm just as low as any other sinner. Trust me

Agreed, but that hasn't been your tone. You came out of nowhere for an encore performance in this thread and decided to open your encore by spouting off about the end times and pointing out that anyone who doesn't agree with you is screwed. In an effort to witness, you managed to further annoy people who already don't agree with you and you managed to make Gonch want gay sex. How I would have loved to see Moosh's reaction to that one. ;)

Let me put it this way, Tyler. If your witnessing efforts are making people want to do the opposite of what you're saying just to spite you, you're doing it wrong. I'm not saying that witnessing the way God intended we do it will always be successful, but I'm pretty confident that it won't drive people to downright want to spite you.

I recommend you go back and read through the New Testament. I don't profess to know the Bible as well as I should, but it seemed like Jesus used the convicting messages toward those who already believed in him but whose egos inflated to unhealthy levels of arrogance. He took a much softer approach with those who didn't know him.

If you ever want to get through about your faith with anyone, be an example of love and positive impact in life. Don't just spout off that everyone else is terrible.

Of the 15 post above mine as of my posting only one even mentions roller coasters or a roller coaster word in it.

I tried to find that topic from the 2004 elections that I thought had more non roller coaster related posts in it but couldn't find it for some reason.

Thanks kpjb for welcoming me to coasterbuzz but between this and the other name that I used to be known as I have been around a while. Honestly at most 1 in every 20 times I visit this site do I actually post something because most often someone else has already stated what I'm thinking. This is not TPR where people compete to post the most thank God. Come on coasterbuzz I have faith in you :)

And as for you Tyler(yes I realize the hypocrite that I am being by actually having a non roller coaster paragraph) I too am a born again christian and probably share most of your beliefs, but this is not the way to spread the word. All your doing is aggravating people by posting on an internet website. What you should do is get to know them personally and work things from there.

This is the last post that I make on this topic.

No. Please don't Rapture yourself off of here just yet, Tyler. I have a few questions for you.

Does God send babies to Hell if they die before being baptized?

Are gays born gay or is it a choice?

If it is a choice, an answer that I disagree with, at what age does a gay person decide that they are gay? If it is a choice, then the decision must occur very very young, because as far back as I can remember, I have been gay, and most gays will tell you the same thing.

So why would a loving God send people to Hell for making a decision when they were literally a baby. Why create a bunch of people just to destroy them?

Let's just say for a moment that it isn't a choice, and that people are born gay. Homosexuality occurs in nature all the time, by the way. If you believe in God, you probably believe that God created the natural order.

Would God want a person to exist alone his or her entire life because they have feelings for the same sex? He created man and woman at first because the planet needed people. I don't necessarily think that he was making a statement that homosexuality is wrong when he created two sexes in humans. He also created Eve so that Adam wouldn't be lonely. Are gay people supposed to live a lonely life with no companionship? Are they being selfish towards God if they decide that they want a life partner to alleviate their loneliness?

I personally think that homosexuality could possibly be on the rise because there are more people on the planet, and therefor more gays. Crime is on the rise too, for the same reason, but when you include the rise in population, crime has actually gone down. I also believe that homosexuality just might be a natural way to keep us from overpopulating the planet. Just because the Bible says that there will be a rise in homosexuality near the end times doesn't mean that it's a bad thing.

I want to bring up the Leviticus, a book in the Bible... lol... Chik-Fil-A, for example, sells a ham biscuit for breakfast. Ham comes from a pig, if I am not mistaken. A pig is a divided-hoofed animal of which Leviticus points out is unclean, and forbids us to even touch it. Christians eat at Chik-Fil-A all the time. People who eat pork, or play football, or work on a farm with pigs sicken me. They are the biggest problem in America today. How will I explain to my children when they ask me why someone is eating a BBQ pork sandwich in public? They are destroying families everywhere. :p

Leviticus also is heavily quoted in discussions about how God feels about this subject, by the way, but I bet you already knew that. It says that gays should "surly be put to death," but the sixth commandment says that "Thou shalt not kill." Should we kill gays or not? Nowhere in the ten commandments does it say homosexuality is wrong.

Leviticus is ridiculous, while I am talking about it. I do believe that it was the law of the land at the time. It is not speaking about forever life laws. I don't think God is angry at me for eating at Red Lobster last month, or wearing my Batman cotton/polyester blend t-shirt. He is probably more concerned with how I am treating people less fortunate than myself, or how much love I have in my heart for my fellow humans.

So what kind of a world should we have then? How are we going to get rid of the gays? Sending them to an island sounds like a pretty good idea, right? Then they couldn't reproduce. The only problem is that those straights will keep having gay babies and they will always have to be sent to the gay island.

We could rehabilitate them using therapy to try to turn the into "normal" straight people. No, wait. It has already been tried and shown that it doesn't work.

You are not going to bring anyone to God by saying that God has the same prejudices that you have learned by your surroundings. Prejudices against gays came from humans, and not from God. Jesus not once mentioned homosexuality. It was not an important issue to Him.

I believe that focusing on Homosexuality is very damaging to the Christian religion. It distracts us all from what is really important, and it turns many people, both straight and gay, away from the religion. I must have an extremely strong faith in God, because throughout all the pain that other Christians have dealt to me, my faith has grown even stronger.

Gay Marriage at Cedar Point: Please help us!

That is the topic title. Eric no offence, but you can clearly see just from the topic title that this thread could very easily, and quickly steer away from roller coasters. The fact that this event was supposed to take place in an amusement park, a park that many members of this enthusiast site have extremely close affiliations with, has a lot of interest here. Not only the members, but the industry itself. Especially Cedar Point.

I mean you do know its the coaster capital of the world right? ;)

I doubt that homosexuality "is on the rise" at all. I think it's just that more people than ever are more comfortable (and hopefully feeling safer) coming out and speaking openly about it. And that's a very good thing.

...certain forms of discrimination are permitted when it is advantageous for the company's financial situation, particularly when pointing out that discrimination occurs daily every time someone who can afford the Fast Lane pass cuts in front of someone who can't.

How is that discrimination? If I walk into McDonald's and buy a burger and fries off the dollar menu, am I being discriminated against by those who choose to order a Bacon Habanero Ranch Quarter Pounder and a large fry?

I don't want to turn this into a 'rage against the Fast Lane' pass issue, that wasn't my point when I commented on the article. However, I will respond by stating that I think that its possible to view Fast Lane as discriminatory: A low-income family who saves up all summer to go to CP and can't afford Fast Lane will have to wait in lines twice as long as a wealthy family who can afford it. And not only that, children who don't necessarily understand the concept of money and class may find that confusing and upsetting when they see other families 'cutting in line' (something they are taught NOT to do in school).

I don't believe that the writer's point is to use the gay marriage issue as a means of complaining about Cedar Point's pricing and Fast Lane. I believe that the writer is creating a connection between the two in order to bring attention to the fact that Cedar Fair has drawn a line in the sand regarding 'class discrimination' (meaning they are for it when it is advantageous for their ledgers), yet, will not take a stance on the marriage issue (either way).

The link between the two topics, and the language used, cheekily exposes an interesting truth: it is often easier to explain/justify discrimination of the 'other' (in this sense, 'gay marriage') as opposed to the discrimination occurring to oneself (in this case, 'normalized' discrimination related to class).

If there is a "rise" in incidence, it is due to an increase in population. 10-12% of the population - and that figure tends to hold even across species.

The increase in the rise in reporting, totally agree 1000%, it's just plain fabulous. Much love to my LGBT brothers and sisters.
