Former aquarium being razed, giant footers poured on Cedar Point beach

No official announcement has been made for Cedar Point's 2002 attraction, but construction has begun. The back portion of the former aquarium building has been razed while giant footers have been poured on the beach behind Giant Wheel. A few photos have been posted on Guide to The Point.

I know that this probably wouldn't happen.  But if you take out diaster transport this ride could be an LIM coaster that launches into  a spagetti bowl (like Flight of Fear) inside Disaster Transport's building.
Acrophobia: Funny you should say that...when Mad Cobra opened, I remember suggesting that CP could put the station right about where the Wheel is, launch along the beach, and have the bowl right where the stadium is now. Clearly not what they had in mind, but I figured CP would be the park to figure out how to make the ride work with four trains. :)

The footers are arranged in a line parallel to the midway and perpendicular to it. Marker #13 seems to be the end of the large footer, and it is worth noting that while none of the footers appears to be very deep, the big footer at the end (#11, 12) is clearly constructed to have more concrete on top of it, and my guess is that the top of the footer will eventually be at the same height as the existing midway...probably three feet higher than it is right now. Also, there is foam insulation attached to the side of the midway next to the footer, indicating that they are planning to pour concrete right up to the side of the existing wall.

According to a Giant Wheel ride op., the stadium is supposidly staying...but I won't put money on that just yet....
Hey everyone--I'm a paddlewheel Captain at CP and have been there the last two weekends and the next one...I've heard that its a dueling impulse that will intertwine like pasta...and the OCEANA stadium is not coming down because I know they resigned the divers for next year.

While at the park on Saturday, I walked over and took a look at the Oceana stadium. The tank appears to still be full of water, which doesn't make sense if they are going to tear it down in next few weeks. Wouldn't they have drained it already?
