Former aquarium being razed, giant footers poured on Cedar Point beach

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

No official announcement has been made for Cedar Point's 2002 attraction, but construction has begun. The back portion of the former aquarium building has been razed while giant footers have been poured on the beach behind Giant Wheel. A few photos have been posted on Guide to The Point.

I hope so much that it will be a full circuit coaster. Mainly because of capacity and that i like them when they're full circuit.

Millennium Force....it has its ups and downs.
Whatever it is, it will be pretty tall and hefty. And what a GREAT location. Guess I'll be making another trip next year.

maybe it is a launched full circuit coaster made by premier. i mean, they dont have a launched coaster, and premier can make full circuits with 2-3 trains.
I was thinking about the Intamin impulses, and I came up with this conclusion.
One is slow, but if you build 2, or even 3, to the same line, then it would speed up the crowd control issues. You could probabily have them race at the same time as well.

I don't know, this would be Cp's first non complete circuit coaster!  I don't know how we can possibly tell at this point!

Suicide is not a solution!

Actually, I am thinking that it will be something like duelling impulses, if they can get enough power. I was thinking that the spikes could wrap around each other kind of like a gemelli (a pasta).
Three GIANT "racing" impulse coasters???  They can either call them "Triple Threat" or "Trifecta."  No idea actually, when do the official announcements come for the following year's new attractions?
Is this that stadium like think by Disaster Transport?

I heard a while ago they wanted to build something like the exterminator.  An impusle that is bigger than S.U.E. would hurt sfwoa.
Not really.

Don't think is an Impulse...Cedar Point usually don't build clones...the one and only clone they have is the WildCat, but is diferent cause that's a model from a lot of years back and has historic importance...However, don't think they're getting and Impulse, the same reason they don't have a Boomerang or an SLC...

Actually, Blue Streak, Mean Streak, Woodstock's Express & Wildcat are all clones.  What makes then different though is that Cedar Fair makes slight modifications, sometimes big ones, to there rides to seperate them from the rest.

Mean Streak is a clone of what?  When it came out it was the tallest woodie in the world.

Mean Streak is a (sort of) clone of the Texas Giant.

Schwarzkopf shuttle loops...The most possible fun in 36 seconds.
yea.. it's a launched 0gravity ride..

you get shot down a large stretch of track that is in an arch fashon, and feel weightless for quite some time..

I just have this feeling.. :)

-----------------

How about they launch trains at random into Mean Streak's structure!  ;)

Many of the rumors I have heard included " Intamin", "launched",  and  " coaster". They also have said that it will be a version of something that is already out there only bigger and better.  Since capacity is an issue at Cedar Point. I would rule out an impulse like V2 or Superman. But how about a full circuit along the lines of something like Volcano? Just a thought.
I've heard, from several CP sources, that it'll be an Intamin Impluse launched coaster, perhaps between 400 and 600 feet tall, similar to S:UE at SFWoA. Also, they are planning to handle the capacity issues by making it dual track.

Does someone have pictures of the footers and construction of S: UE or V:2??? I want to compare those to the pictures now and what is to come and see if they look identical...of course there are differences, this is on the beach etc...If you do just E-Mail them or the web site link to VekomaXtreme@aol.com Thanx!

I'll bet it's a duelling V:2....extra tall....extra fast.
A pair of Intamin Impulses would be nice, 400+ft and 100+mph, now that would be a blast
