Former aquarium being razed, giant footers poured on Cedar Point beach

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

No official announcement has been made for Cedar Point's 2002 attraction, but construction has begun. The back portion of the former aquarium building has been razed while giant footers have been poured on the beach behind Giant Wheel. A few photos have been posted on Guide to The Point.

Hehehehe, here we go again. :)
I can just see it now..."to once again send shock waves through the amusement park industry with the largest..."
I am going Sun. I will have to take a look.

My guess is a TA2K coaster. If you look at a map of the park, the section they are talking about is a straight section that's just large enough for one of those coasters. If that's the case, it would bring a lot of popularity to a deserted section of the park.
Nope, Jeff has already stated it wont be a TA2K, trust me, their getting impulses.
It's all hazy, but someone said somewheeeerree about it not being TA2K :) (page 4 of this thread)  Anyone's guess is a guess unless they know.  There's a profound statement.  Whatever they put in, I'm sure will be pretty sweet.

--- been beat to the statement by joey :) ---
Or, you know, it could be a ploy to get us all thinking it's not really a TA2K and then all of a sudden CP announces it is 4 racing TA2K's. Right ;)

All hints from previous posts state some type of shuttle coaster. This park could use one because its something different from all of the other coasters at CP.

No, its going to be like Superman Ultimate Escape ;), totaly different.
I think they are building a woodie by the lake and a air induction coaster by Mean Streak. Whatever it is I'm sure it will be great! I can't wait for the official news. I've heard alot of rumors this summer & it will be nice to hear the facts.

Don't think is an Impulse...Cedar Point usually don't build clones...the one and only clone they have is the WildCat, but is diferent cause that's a model from a lot of years back and has historic importance...However, don't think they're getting and Impulse, the same reason they don't have a Boomerang or an SLC...

Well Mario, you will then be surprised because Jeff has hinted to something that CP will have to acknowledge at another park as a coaster because of what they are going to construct.

Very simply, no TA2K, no woodie, and no B&M.  What does that leave?  Well, look at the rest of the posts but think larger.  :-)

IF & I am saying IF
this does happen to be some sort of a variation of an Intamin Impulse, how are they going to handle the capacity issues? Most, if not all, of Cedar Point's rollercoasters have a 3-train capacity. That was mainly created because of large crowds and to handle large a large capacity of people.

How many trains can a Intamin Impulse have? Just 1...
Does this really make sense in Cedar Point's line-up, or is there much more to it than meets the eye?

Will there be more than 1, such as racing/dueling... or is this a definate non-full circuit rollercoaster?

Please disregard anything said by me that is incomprehensible, incoherent, or just dumb. I am and will be drained from the arduous school year, thank you!

B&M Flying Coaster? Hehe:)
Whatever it turns out to be six months from now, it will be welcome. :)
