Flying Turns Update

Does anyone know who does the interview on the Podcast? He sounds way too polished to not be a radio DJ. And if it is just a regular guy, he should send out a demo tape.

Maybe it's Gary Owens? (just keeping the Laugh-In thing going here).

the XD Theatre is in the Roaring Creek Saloon, not sure how that will work out tho, if the arcade is still there or it will have its own entrance or something. Also i wish you could zoom in on the layout to read the numbers...

A small room was built across from the Skeeter ball and in front of the Lazer thing. So if you walk in the last entrance, nearest the Bandshell, the room is in front of you.

Oh ok, I was wondering how that would work if there was enough space in there. Thanks

^^ Of course you'd remember Moosh, you live the closest to beautiful downtown Burbank.

Nice to see a layout, it certainly adds missing details.

Looking at the drawing, I'm even more curious about the layout. What's the flare around the helix?

The "flare" around the helix is a siding/work area for the trains. Because of the casters on the trains, I am told that it is unwise to attempt to push the trains backwards - they won't move. Hence, a simple siding/switch for storing trains would not work because, once parked, the trains would resist being withdrawn back to the ride.

On the other hand, a transfer table, like at the Phoenix, would have worked, but there was not very much room available for installation of one, and it would have had to be two-sided to accept two spare trains.

The service track as shown requires a switch track to get the trains off, just before the helix, and another one to get them back on, just after the helix. Spare trains will be sitting virtually on the midway which leads to Twister, which will provide interest for even those non-riding patrons who will not otherwise get up close and personal with the rolling stock.

I am still just in shock that they even considered building a Flying turns at all. But then again it is Knoebels, so it shouldn't come as a surprise.

random link but its too a picture of the Jet Star when it was at Knoebels. Ive only seen this picture a few times and never knew where to find it but came across it recently and decided to post a link since i see alot of other people looking for it.

I can't get that link to work P18. I get a HTTP 500 - Internal server error
Internet Explorer When I try to open it.

You have disturbed the forbidden temple, now-you-will-pay!!!

This is really getting exciting.

Sorry about that, for some reason the page has been removed, but is still up?? I dont know much about it except linking from the page itself doesnt work, I can try just putting in the URL for the pic (just have to remove the space before imageGallery)

Its a pretty rare picture and interesting to see IMO. *** Edited 4/13/2006 9:58:40 PM UTC by P18***

This site has a great aerial view of the Riverview FT. While there are differences, it helps make a lot of sense of the Knoebels plan.

Off topic a little, but im not sure how to submit a link, but Ive been waiting for someone to create an unofficial site for knoebels for a while. Hope it works out for them.

More verticle construction going on and the Updates page at the official site posted a "Logo" above the layout.

Bump.

Any new updates?

Check out this site:

Haven't heard a word from Mr. Fetterman for a few months. Of course, the last couple of weeks he's probably been just a little busy with the whole water thing. Looking at the progress on the webcam my guess is that it will not be operational this year.
