Extreme News on V2 at SFMW!!!

If they have to make the ride 150 ft. that sucks.
Just to add my worthless two cents....

If this /_\ is the new design, as seems to be hoped for, I think it might be sweet, especially with the spiral.  However, how can they just "bend" the track and make it work?  The darn thing hardly ever seems to work in its original form (at SFGAm) and is a heck of a complicated machine; plausibility is an issue.  So, if I was a betting man: \_/ is more likely, though, to the laymen, the change still seems like it would be a headcahe.

If the change was extremely positive, I would think the website would be more specific and give the change more of a headline on the site.  And it will be the "world's first" mediocre impulse if this is truly the change.

This would never happen but 4d cars would be awesome but i dont know if it would work.
The track tilting sounds cool, but there were som rumors of a full circuit impule (many people expected CP to recieve it). Im putting my money on full circuit, with a possibility of a top horizontal spiral.

Now that would be sweet!!!

Since nothing was mentioned about SFGAm's V2 at NCC, I'm REALLY thinking the height restriction "infringement" (oops) is the reason for the change...and assuming that is the case, the "bending" of the steel is something I gotta see...does Superman work for Intamin now?

I'll bring this up again just for the fun of it.  Medusa is the same height as V2.  You can't tell from the ground but you can clearly tell when at the top of Medusa's lift.  If this is truly about about the height issue with the city (which it looks like it is folding out to be), then my question is why hasn't Medusa come into question?

I tried to sign my name here but the ink didn't stay on the screen.
If the track is going to get "bent";) then i wonder what the new name for the ride would be...
Can anyone visit the parking lots of SFMW and see if there is any sign of new track?

Maybe someone with better math skills could help me out with this one.  Assuming that the spikes are bent outwards \____/ to attain the height limit of 150 feet, wouldn't that make the angle of descent/ascent less than 60 degrees for the spikes?  I tried whipping out the geometry, but I haven't even thought about that subject since 1992.

Any rough estimates out there on the angles?  Thanks.

Raging Bull Guy, there is no real sign of any activity at the park right now. All we know is that the trains have dissapeared and there is a bulldozer sitting in the parking lot. go to www.sfmwonline.com and you can see all the pics.

Six Flags Marine World..... Theme Parks taken to a whole new level.
I think that a full circuit track is out of the question because as everyone thinks the alternation is due to a height limit in which the full circuit track would put it way over.  Would be very cool though.
I heard rumors that SFMW wanted to raise the height limit of the park. So maybe they're taking advantage of it. :)

I think it would be *EXTREMELY* awesome if they could have a 1/2 Top hat on each spike, sort of bend it back like (____) I dunno, you guys tell me, could it work?

-----------------

Yes, there is that rumor that they want to raise the height limit.  Especially if they want to have a hyper coaster in their near future its gonna have to be taller then 150 ft.  Hopefully they will raise it but I dont think that it will happen this season.

Here is a cool idea that they would never do.  Make it full circuit by making the two spikes into tophat inversions and put a set of lims on the other side between the two ends of the top hats.  The ride would basically launch as normal, go through the first top hat, hit the second set of lims with enough push to get through the second top hat.  Then coast up the first top hat, roll backwards into the lims where you get a shot backwards to get through the back top hat, hit the outside lims to shoot you backwards through the first tophat and the main launch lims would be used to slow you down coming into the station.

Like I said, will never be built but it would be way cool.

Or....turn the ride into the world's largest loop....well...oval. Yikes!

Hmm...math.

So if the towers are 185 and need to be 150, and the track is 15' off the ground, then you need to take 170 and make it 135.

It's 52.57 degrees above horizontal which means it would be bent 37.42 degress away from vertical.

The legend lives!

I personally think it would be near impossible for the park to make the track angled out like this \___/ because for this to work, more supports would be needed to hold the track up without it breaking off when the train moves up it.  And as seen in this picture http://www.sfmwonline.com/photo.php?photo=guide.coasters.v2.photo.004f&cap=The+exit+ramp+and+plaza+entrance. That is impossible since there is a walkway at both ends of the ride.
Could the bulldozer be for making more room in light of more supports to create a \_______/?

Rollercoasters are my life, I think about them more than I think about....wait, thats all I think about :)
Id be cool if it rocketed you backwards vertical then into a short sprial right into a inline twist and then you do it again.

You know, that sounds kind of cool.  And it would work...  Not to say for V2, but for a new impulse design.
The track would be complete circuit, and would blast out of the station, make it almost to the top of the loop, then once more and make it over, then repeat, then go through the station (with brakes) into almost another inversion, then end it the next time in.
Weird...  janFredrick, you inspired me....
