Extreme News on V2 at SFMW!!!

Heh, it is a steel production flaw! Over the past few months, it's been bending itself to a slanted spire instead of vertical ;)

Just keep this in mind. The change to V2 does not appear to be volentary. It is being *forced* on this particular ride for reasons I haven't completely figured out yet. Why SF would advertise such a horrific change is beyond me. Unless my suspicions are way off base.

Have you ever considered that it may not be the park that's the problem, but YOU???

"O.K. Here is a hint. The angle part that you guys are talking about is on the right path. Also, they may not be able to keep the name "Vertical Velocity" any more? Aparently it will cost over a million dollars make the changes. Also think about WHY they are doing this and then you will see the light. I hope it does not really happen.
The train being gone from the station is not that big of a deal. They take the trains off of many coaster for yearly rehab."
Maybe this will shed some light. Im still thinking the  /____| Idea.

Jeff, will I be able to count this as a seperate coaster in my track record? ;)
I'm still wondering what on earth caused the change, whatever it may be.  SF wouldn't change it unless there was reason to, especially if it is a substantial investment.

When I visited the park, it was clearly obvious to me that the ride was over 150ft which is the height limit for Marine World. I have a feeling this change is being forced by the city so that the ride meets the 150ft height requirement. With that in mind, my theory is that the two vertical spikes are going to be angled to stop at the 150ft mark. The ride will look like this I think :

\___/

Of course, just my guess...

Yep, just what I was afraid of Karl.  :(

If that's the case....ouch!  An expensive mistake  from SF.  Wasn't the ride originally marketed as 150 feet?

Did anybody actually say that the city didn't know if/that it's 180 feet? Maybe they got clearence? I hope it's like this...

/____\   :)

Skater for life!

Well, if that would be the case, then  would they keep the spiral?

And I still have to ask...Is this /___\ possible or are the g's too powerful.

3 games until Chicago gets it's Superbowl Shuffle pt.2.

well the city was specualting cause the rumors were that V2 was in a ditch and from the ground to the top of the track was 180ft., but from the highest point from the park to the top of the towers was 150ft. or something like that. It will most likely and hopefully be like this /______\

Six Flags Marine World..... Theme Parks taken to a whole new level.
Hey, if they alter it and change the name from Vertical Velocity to something else; does that mean that I can add it as another coaster to my track record, and have bragging rights saying that I rode it in its original configuration with the holding brake in operation? Or should I just sit here and be quiet about it? ;)

-------------
Off season too long...can't go on...must ride coaster...

That would make sense as to why they can no longer call it veritcal velocity, neither of the towers would be vertical.  It would be lame if it was \__/

It would be sweet if it was /___\

just my two cents.

Hey, why does everyone have all there hopes down? Everyone thinks it won't be a good change. Everyone doubted the change on V2 and now everyone is saying it won't be such a good change. I know for a fact that this will make V2 one of the best thrill rides for 2002!

I know a lot about roller coasters. Have any questions just E-Mail me at agomez@afes.com

If adds a twist and add a twist in the back they could chop off the size pleasing nor cal and having an excuse for consrtuction

if they did angle it they could go \_____/ or /________\ they could creat face off cars(they would start right side upp and slowly tilt forward, for all those with a persepsual problem). All of the options would not be very cost effective for six flags inless the state supported them because the trying to abide by the rules, which i highly doubt they'd do. If they turned the hole thing around so the cars were backwords, and you launched the opposite way no one would be hurt in the process of launching, perfect!!!!!!!

NNNoooooo... Noooooooo... it cant be... it cant be... The Rides OVER!!!!!!!!!!!

i meant flying cars for the tilting

From a good source I hear that to satisfy the height limit they're going to "bend" the towers outward to make them 150' and making Vertical Velocity not so vertical.
If they are going to make the towers at a lower angle so it can meet the 150 foot height limit, then it will also need to be set to launch at a slower speed. Less height, unless there is a lot of extra track added, means less speed or you'll hit the end and fly off like in RCT.

Oh, and you can't simply "bend" the track. Someone that lives near there should drive by the park and try to see if they can see anything such as cranes, or maybe new track if thats possible.

Someone on the SFMW Online boards said they drove by there yesterday and saw nothing new in the way of cranes.  We may not see any work being done till late February. This happened with V2 last season work didnt start till the season started basically.
