Are you ever going to understand that it's *not* the spam that people are still going on about? It's the harvesting of emails, so get with the program.--Ryan
Ryan -
This is about spam. Harvesting of emails is something that happens all the time, if you sign up for one thing online, you are pretty much going to be getting more and more spam as time goes by. Don't jump on my case if I am wrong, but does Jeff have a privacy policy? If not, then deal with the fact that your email got stolen. Don't sign up for any website unless they have a very clear cut privacy policy, other wise just expect spam to happen. Took me about 2 seconds to delete that thrill network spam, along with about 10 or 15 other spam emails. I'm not going to cry about it, and neither should you guys. I used to think people had better things to worry about in life, and this proves me otherwise.
-Also, just to add to this post, this is what you want to look for to keep this from happening on other sites (this happens to be taken from the Yahoo privacy policy)-We have physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect personal information about you.

How 'bout you do your moderating on RollerCoasterTalk on GeoCities and whereever else you do it and stop worrying about who does what on CoasterBuzz? Nobody needs, wants or cares for you telling anyone what they should do.
And to think you actually came to the conversation flopping like a fish out of water with the same old, tired, worn, heard-it-three-pages-back-already, predicted-before-you-even-started "Jeff's the big tyrannical boss" crap. As least the other guys took a couple good hits before limping around with that piffle. Yeesh.
Didn't look like Jeff needed to ask anybody for help poking holes in that flimsy ListBot yarn.
Ah yes, CPlayer, not surprised you'd be one of the first to jump me. hehe At least you show by your first statement that you don't have any problem at all ripping into something that you have no clue about, such as the RollerCoasterTalk list, but then that doesn't surprise me. Heck, following your logic there I guess that RRC is part of Geocities to. **rollseyes**
Let me make a couple of things clear, for those that don't get it. I don't work for TN, nor am I affiliated with them. I modded for them for a few months shortly after they started the boards, and quit a long time ago over personal differences with Alex. I also don't use ListMail, and I admitedly don't know how it works, nor have I had time or interest to really look at it that close. Instead I was basing some of that on my imperfect understanding of how it worked. But even I got an email at an address unregistered to TN. Even with that though, there are a few things that some sure seem to be ignoring with a passion.
1. Alex has already apologized, a few times over.
2. He's said it was a mistake and an accident, and was not anything intentional.
3. None of you have been subscribed to their newsletter, hence why the unsubscribe part of the messages didn't work.
4. It has been promised that it wouldn't happen again.
Now see, I've been raised that when someone makes a mistake and apologizes for it, then takes steps to correct it, that you forgive and forget. Then you put it behind you and go on with life- especially when that mistake amounts to little more than a minor inconvenience. You don't go declaring war, threatening trouble, and following through with attacks and illegal behavior. All of that sure seems childish to me, which was something that I thought people here took pride in NOT being. Guess I was wrong on that one (nothing new there, that's for sure)
And no, I'm not going after Jeff really on that one, it's the rest of you. And in particular because some of it is being done in Jeff's name (or the site's name, same difference in this case) it can actually cause Jeff and the site a lot of trouble. Regardless of your view of the email from TN, the illegal attacks, email bombs, hacking, and other behavior from people who frequent this site can cause legal repercussions to fall back on Buzz, and I'm sure that's something that none of us with to happen. We all know that Buzz is by far one of the best coaster/ park sites out there, regardless of how some of us may feel about certain people, and I'd hate to see that ruined because of the idiocy and stupidity of a few people who take something that someone here says a bit to literate and having the results bite Jeff and Buzz right back again.
The best course of action really is to ignore it, leave it alone, and let it disappear. All this mess isn't doing anyone any good.

Then why don't show us how it's done and ignore this thread, leave it alone and disappear from it? Set the good example. Bye-bye. Bye-bye now.

This is about spam.
A few pages back, I'm too lazy too look, many people, I believe including Jeff, stated that they don't care about the spam email they got, they're just mad about the harvesting of addresses.
You just cut something from your post, but if you look back at my post you quoted, you'll find that I don't really give a damn about the email. Like you said, it took me one click to delete it. My post was to tell the CP_Mark character that his redundant posts were irrelevant.

2. He's said it was a mistake and an accident, and was not anything intentional.
This is what I think most of us are irritated with. How does one "accidentally" harvest e-mail addresses from another site? There isn't any possibility in the known universe that such an action occurs as an accident.
And Westerman hasn't apologized for anything relevant, namely to the entire enthusiast community for stealing their addresses from another site. He just rants about how much he doesn't like me in his moderator forum because in fact, he has no testicles and knows that what he did was wrong, immoral and sleazy.

I understand what you are saying....
I didn't cut anything from my post, I added to part about yahoo privacy policy. What needs to be taken into consideration is that when it comes to spam, the best we can do is do what it takes to not let the spammers get our emails. In this case, our emails were available for the taking, and they got stolen. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time it has happened to most of us. There is no telling how many times this already may have happened, only reason we know about it is because its from another coaster site.
Hey, how many people here got an email yesterday about penis enlargement? Maybe that was stolen from this site too?! Lets find the a-holes who are selling viagra and tell them not to steal emails too.
ITS POINTLESS! This topic is pointless! If anyone wants to bring legal action, you have your evidence, call your lawyer. Otherwise stop crying!

This is what I meant by irrelevant.
The reason that this is causing such an uproar is that the harvester/sender is actually known this time.

Again--same invite as was made to Sir Willow. If it's pointless, you know how to click elsewhere. There's your own 'logic' for you and everyone else to see. Just like with him, I'll use no other reasoning but your own.
Of course, just like him you'll post again and prove yourself a hypocrite. The thread is only 'pointless' because no one cares for your 'point.'
Go ahead. Prove the TON for the 846th time...oops, make that 847. Forgot Willow's attempt at a last word there.

I am not who you think I am.
Upon seeing that, I must say that I'm sorry for beliving that you were the same person from over at TN. I just know CP_Mark from TN and you seemed to appear when this thread poped up and your were defending TN...so I just put two-and-two together. Once again, sorry.
