Did you get e-mail from ThrillNetwork?

I'm still trying to look into things in the few minutes I have here and there, but as well as I'm able to tell, ListMail is the one that screwed up, for some reason merging CBuzz's list with TN's list when they sent out the last newsletter.

Mind to explain, then, why I received SN's newsletter? I'm not signed up to receive even Coasterbuzz's newsletter.

Sir Willow:

I'm not sure if Coasterbuzz uses ListMail for the newsletter, but if you would have done your homework you would have realized that ListMail is a program that is downloaded and run on the client's server. Unless CoasterBuzz shared the same server with ThrillNetwork (it doesn't), there is absolutely no way that the lists could have merged.

Add my name to the long list of people who got the email, In fact this email address is pretty new, so new I created it when I registered here.

SirWillow, Listmail is not the one who screwed up...Thrill Network did. I find it funny you state:

"ListMail is the one that screwed up, for some reason merging CBuzz's list with TN's list when they sent out the last newsletter"

Had you been following this you would see that the letter to Jeff stated that (although indirectly) the email address were harvested from coaster sites. That was Thrill Networks doing, not ListMail. Thrill Network should have never have had a list of CBuzz's email addresses in the first place, let alone use them to send the spam then state it was a mistake. They knew damn well what they were doing and I cannot believe you have the nerve to blame it on ListMail.

Try taking responsibility for your actions once in awhile. We all know what really occured here....that is everyone except the recent CBuzz members that have come to defend it.

They'd better fix Top Thrill Disappointment if they want attendance to boom.

Ha! That's k3wl..I get it! Disipointment, instead of Dragster...cuz lots of poeple are dissipointed that Dragster iznt up and running. Thanks 4 the laugh d00d!

That's all enthusiasts seem to whine about when it isn't running.

I know we're getting off topic, but...

Enthusiast or not, if you were going to the park hoping to ride it, wouldn't you be bummed if it weren't up?

I am in South Central Ohio. When I saw at 7:30 that TTD was up I almost made the trip tonight to ride it. I figured with all the down time that they would run it until every one had rode it. It is only 3 hours from me. Then I thought that I might want to stay home. I had already had 1 can of beer. I wouldn't want to drink and drive. :)

I-nar, yup. But I wouldn't plan my trip around a first year coaster. TTD has proved that anything that can go wrong will.

it seems to me like there is a lot of overreacting going on here.

It is quite interesting though to see which webmaster has been doing the apologizing, explaining, and peacemaking, and which one has been doing the flaming, threatening, refusing to listen...

Hey, I just thought of the best idea.

How 'bout you do your moderating on RollerCoasterTalk on GeoCities and whereever else you do it and stop worrying about who does what on CoasterBuzz? Nobody needs, wants or cares for you telling anyone what they should do.

And to think you actually came to the conversation flopping like a fish out of water with the same old, tired, worn, heard-it-three-pages-back-already, predicted-before-you-even-started "Jeff's the big tyrannical boss" crap. As least the other guys took a couple good hits before limping around with that piffle. Yeesh.

Didn't look like Jeff needed to ask anybody for help poking holes in that flimsy ListBot yarn. Didn't look like he needed to ask anybody, "Gee, are you POed?" That happened on its own and will continue to happen as long as Swill fans imagine they can shush it away.

You really need to step out of the crossfire now--before you bite off even more than you already can't chew.

Nothing good will ever come from this thread.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Without no-gooders doing no-good with no good reason, it wouldn't exist.
I got it...but I have never even been to thrill network. Hadn't heard of it untill I got the email. My guess is that they went throuh CBuzz and ACN and the other big ones and took the emails they found. Like other people, I put it on my spam list.

Okay, so wow. Everyone here got an email from thrill network. They spammed us all, just like the people trying to sell me viagra. I always perfered Coasterbuzz over any other website out there when it comes to talking about coasters, so I guess I'll do what all the other buzzers will do; keep coming to this site, and not going to thrill networks site.

C'mon people, there are worst things than getting spammed. I think its a good time to close this thread, and move on with our lives.

Why doesn't everyone that's upset go to SwillNetwork and tell them how you feel?

Ohhhhhhhh, right--that would constitute a visit and they aren't worth our presence or traffic. Carry on.

If I were Jeff, I'd be all over this too. Regardless of what kind of person you think Jeff is, that doesn't matter. Email addresses were stolen from his website, and he has a right (maybe even a duty) to protect us from that. It's sad that we have to worry about giving our email address to a reputable website.

I didn't get the email.... not sure why. But if I did, I'd be pissed. Simple as that. Five to ten spam emails a week make it through my ISP's filters, about 20 or so a week get blocked, and I hate having to deal with the crap that makes it through.

Everyone should forward this to email to UCE@FTC.GOV . That is the FTC's spam email address. They keep a database of such things. Also, here is a website to help you find out how to send your headers along with any email you forward: http://spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/19.html I'd also be sending it to my ISP as well, who knows, it may help.

I just got this really funny email:
reverse your age and looks by 20 years with hgh!....................

I have heard things about hgh, but if I were to take it for what its worth, I would be too young to be on the net, let alone this site, so why the hell am I getting this email at the address I signed up to this site with?

I am not who you think I am.

Are you ever going to understand that it's *not* the spam that people are still going on about? It's the harvesting of emails, so get with the program.
