PPP is strange if you want to be a spaz and not do the routines. There are specific paras for each song and of course you're going to look retarded if you don't do the correct routine.
I'm so happy though, my local arcade got Drummania 6th/Guitar Freaks 7th link up. Too bad they don't make anymore KeyboardMania mixes :P
PPP can be so much fun. You just need to get creative! Use your whole body and not just your hands.
If it's a duel you want, it's a duel you'll get! Come to SFGAdv and meet me in the arcade I work at...the one with DDR 3rd Mix Ver.Korea1. I"ll be waiting.
I'm up to 9 feet. Don't even ask me about MAX300 or MaxX Unlimited yet, lol.

Aiight - I wanted to bring this topic back, because just 2 days ago I discovered the pure joy of DDR.
I went to Putt-Putt to play golf, and I saw these guys playing DDR (actually I believe it was DDR 2 Max 6th gen. mix). I had been wanting to try it for months, but I never had the guts. But after watching for 10 minutes, these guys invited me to play, so I did.
Needless to say, I was immediately addicted. I played probably a dozen games before I had to leave. Then, the next day, I went to a bowling alley near my house. They were having senior leagues so there was no one in the arcade. I played by myself for more than 2 hours without stopping.
I was dead tired, and today I'm totally sore. But I cannot wait to play again! It is so much fun. A couple of people even stopped to watch me, and I didn't feel stupid at all; in fact, I even saw a guy from work and I showed him how to play.
In all that time, I only failed one song, so I must not be terrible. It is so much fun when there are multiple jumps in a row. I was even hitting most of the eighth notes. I guess being in marching band for 4 years didn't hurt...
At any rate, despite what I said earlier on in this thread, DDR is now my favorite video game. I really wish I had one of these in my house - I would be a lot more in shape than I am.

How did I miss this thread when it came around in June?? I started playing in January, and can beat a few 9 foot songs now. It's now a priority on trips to parks to look for DDR machines. Even went as far as to stop at Goofy Golf in Sandusky on our way to CP last time to play 3rd Mix Plus, because it's better than the beat up at the park.

I thought this was dorky the FIRST time I read it....and even dorkier the SECOND. (hi rollergator)
Aaaanyway, as far as DDR goes, yeah I play that game sometimes. Well, if by sometimes, you mean a few times a week/every night or so. Okay, maybe not EVERY night, just when the other people I know around here go to the arcade....wait.....every night.
Okay, I consider myself to be decent at the game, only been playing for about 7 months or so, and infrequently before I moved up here in May. My only pet peeve at the arcades is people who shouldn't be giving you advice on songs but do it anyway. Like someone telling me I am too early on the 16ths on Luv To Me (AMD) and then getting up and nearly failing an easier song. Other than that, meeting other DDRers is always great.

By far this is my favorite topic on the boards yet :) . I go over to my local bowling alley (STARS here in Vacaville, CA) every day to play their DDR MAX2 and 5th Mix! I just can't get enough of it. I'm so obsessed last Friday night I played about 15 times.
I have yet to complete Max300 but I end up having a full (flashing red & yellow) bar before the first freeze on maniac. Of course after that I get out of wack and fail. Any buzzers out there try doing the original Orion.78 on hidden-shuffle-maniac? Rumor has it that it's one of the things the DDR community is trying to accomplish ;) . As for me, I can only do it on hidden-shuffle-boost-maniac.

To whoever said "just go to a club"... keep in mind it is a "game"... and a damn fun one too... and I dunno any club that allows you to wake up in the morning, and play for a few hours in your PJ's, hehe.. but thats a whooooole nother topic... and I'm 16 besides... its a good exercise tool too, why buy a treadmill or stairmaster when you can have "fun" playing a game and not even have to worry about it being work/stressful..
Just go to a club? The difference is that DDR has a goal. When you're actually dancing (which I never do), you can do what you want. The goal in DDR is to match the steps on the screen. To me, that is fun, whereas I hate actual dancing.

Clubs have goals too, but they vary by patron. ;)
