Still, like I mentioned with wanting to ride any and all types a flying coasters a park had, X would not make them any less extraordinary to the park's audience. I'm sure there are guests that 1) are afraid of the flipping acrobatics on X 2) are afraid of the upside down drop 3) are afraid of the higher drop 4) won't see the similarities between X and a flyer as long as they're both fun--- people are still riding Revolution, Gold Rusher, Viper, Superman, etc. etc. correct?? Besides that, what if the park didn't even want a flyer? There are dozens of other coaster designs out there!

Also, I second the notion that only someone thinking as an enthusiast could possibly contemplate X making the other MM coasters 'worhtless' or 'redundant'. The GP would not possibly think the other coasters were pointless.
That is a completely false statement. One of the main reasons backing the original first post of the thread was the views of various non enthusiasts that I've gone to SFMM with. After riding X, no one had any more interest riding Batman, Goliath, Deja Vu, Revolution, and S:TE. We would've left as soon as we got off X, for the third time, if we wouldn't have drove 5hrs through the night from San Jose.
You guys need to stop treating non enthusiasts like they are mindless fools. Maybe they don't know the ride manufacturer, maybe they don't know a loop from a corckscrew, maybe they don't evenknow how to fasten a restraint, but they definitely can tell you what rides are fun and which ones weren't worth the wait. And jeeze, stop refering to non enthusiasts as GP, enthusiasts are GP as well, there is nothing that gives you greater importance than "general" when you're at the park.

Corey, I'm *guessing* you mean between the tophat and the 'screw (heartline...whatever, lol).
Actually, imbetween the heartline and the spike! Its the "Oh S-omething" area lol! It failed to clear the tophat and just kindve rolled right up and sat there.. one of the funniest coaster moments I've ever expierienced! Both red and blue have both vallied there. I never would've believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes!
Do I win the aforementioned cookie, I already ate the one 'Moosh sent....and if so, did it fail to clear on the way up the spike, or on the way back....
Unfortunately, you don't win a cookie.. but better luck next time
But I was wondering if it had failed to even clear the tophat on the way out of the station....
To answer your original question, yeah it has undershot afew times but it's really nothing. Maintenance comes and pushes the train back into the station and they launch it again.

They're not saying that non enthusiasts are mindless fools. All they're saying is that the GP, and there is a difference, isn't as selective as coaster enthusiasts. Nobody is saying that enthusiasts have a greater importance, so why don't you just shut up and stop your whining.

I certainly do not think non-enthusiasts are mindless fools! In fact, I find it incredible when some enthusiasts think they are superior to non-enthusiasts just because they know the ins and outs of the industry.
Err... I also certainly do not think that by using the term GP I am above 'general' at the park, that very idea is ludicrous imo - I was just using the term to mean non-enthusiasts.
I've got to say I did miss the bit where you talked of your non-enthusiast friends not being interested in the other coasters after X; I must have read it, but quite along time ago given the length and extensive content of this thread! So my statement that ALL the GP would not possibly find the others redundant after X was naive. What I really mean is that I think non-enthusiasts, even more than enthusiasts would be even less likely to find the other coasters redundant after X.
Speaking as a enthusiast I really do not believe I personally would not be interested in the other rides after X. Also, I simply cannot believe that anything other than a small proportion of non-enthusiasts would find themselves not being interested in the other coasters, after riding X. They really are all different experiences! That is my thinking - X has a lot of things but what about the giant airtime hill on goliath with just lapbars, a ride that is reportedly ultra smooth. What about standing up on RR. What about the launch and the long period of weightlessness on STE. What about the classic wooden feel etc. etc.
I don't think any lack of interest in the other coasters would be because X does what the other coasters do. But I could see some people not being as impressed with the others, after riding X, simply because X is so good (from what i've read). But there's got to be a 'best' coaster in every park hasn't there. I dunno, is x really the be all and end all of coasters?
Wow!
I can't believe where this thread went since Friday. The question still seems to be asked as to why Cedar Point bothered to open at all that night.
I will give you one plausible explanation. During Bonus Weekends the Resorts sell 2 night packages that include tickets for Friday night. Had they not opened at all, they would have had a ton of resort guests pretty upset.
By opening, the guests could decide for themselves not to go into the park leaving Cedar Point with no obligation to them.

Gator - Not only has Chiller vallied (saddled - the term used at sfgadv) with riders, it's got a special area where it's saddled acouple times with riders nicknamed the "O-S" area. If you can guess where that is, I'll give you a cookie
If you look around I'm sure you can find a link or two that'll show you a train in the "O-S" area.. it happened acouple times earlier this year.

The Chiller valley???? I DIDN'T DO IT!!!!! Well, maybe once or twice, but it wasn't my fault i swear! I've NEVER heard the following converstaion:
"Where's the train?"
"Look in your monitor!"
"OH S-...!"
