no they arn't mods, they are privlaged members who deserve the right to close/delete usless threads, if you sign up you could be a privlegded member, but the only problem is those that arn't a paying member complain because someone pays to have those rights...ok sure just repeat this to yourself.

That's funny. Jeff introduced us as moderators and general helpers to the site at BeastBuzz. And paying has nothing to do with the distinction - you could join the club 1000 times and never be able to close a thread around here.
Jeff could not possibly monitor/control quality in these forums on his own. He asks people to help out. What he bases that on, I can't say. I assume it stems from contribution, some level of general trust and actual ability to moderate things consistenly with how he sees it necessary.
