I don't know which rides they'll be doing, though it's probably safe to assume that Cedar Point will do Gemini again. Keep watching for details.

Ive also got to guess that all the former Paramount parks will be using their racing wooden coasters for the same reason.
I would really love to do this, and could probably raise a lot of money seeing that I work for the local newspaper, and know a lot of people, but I need details. How long will I be subjected to riding the coaster (too long and I may get sick)? Which coaster will I be subjected to ride if I decide to go to either KI, KD, CWinds, or CP? What does my $50 entry fee include? Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? T-Shirt? Will I get any free time within the park?
I'd have to take a few days off of work, pay for a few tanks of gas, and get a hotel room, so I'd be spending a lot of my own money to do this. Details will help me decide if it would be worth it for me to try and fit it into my tight budget.
I've patiently awaited the details ever since it was mentioned, and now all I get is parks and dates. The web page begins to tell some info, but is cut short with a "...".
I'm sure it would be a really good time for a really good cause, but I can't decide to do it until I know more, and the sooner that I know the details, the more time I have to raise money.
Thanks for doing this, Jeff. GKTW is awesome, and something that fits with coaster enthusiasts.

Nope... do not e-mail me. I can't deal with 50 people times 11 parks. :) They'll take care of you.

Based on last year's event at CP.
$50 got you breakfast, lunch, and a t-shirt. You were able to get off the ride anytime you wanted, it was a simple thumbs up/down. What I did was marathon-ed until 830, then walked to MF and Maverick for ERT, then back to the Gemini. So you have as much free time in the park as you want. You can pay the $50 and just walk around the park if you wanted to, but I don't recommend it because in the morning hours there's more activity than one of those South American army ant colonies.
The event was a whole lot of fun last year and I look forward to doing it again this year! I've actually been wondering about whether I'd be able to do a whole day on any other rides at CP... and I don't think so! Millie maybe, but honestly that's about it. Anything else and I would have to take some longer breaks throughout the day and in my mind that defeats the point of the event!

Thanks Josh Bell and RavenAir. That's helpful. Can anyone else share last year's experiences?

Don't underestimate Gemini RavenAir. After 129 rides last year, I had bruises that lasted for a few days after the event.

Lostkause, I think check in for the event was between 6am-7am. I live in the middle of Ohio, so I got up at 3:30am and was on the road by 4am. Got to the park right at 6am. Spent the hour getting checked in and had fun for the first hour getting to meet some coasterbuzzers. Started the marathon at 7am after the passing out of t-shirts. Had our first puker within the first 20 minutes to half an hour of the event, so don't eat or drink a lot of the breakfest before getting on. Plus I think quiet a few people felt a little nauseous after the first hour. It surprisingly takes a little while for your body to get used to the drops and rough parts of the Gemini (the helix can be a killer at times - as does the turn over the station, it has a weird bump to it after the banking). A lot of people got off around 8:30ish to hit the early ride time on some of the coasters around the park. But I stayed on the whole time (minus a breakdown around noon time, which was a perfect little lunch break). The ride was much more enjoyable once the other side of Gemini started running with park guests on it. Endless amounts of high-fiving. :) I got 125 laps in last year and when I got off, I had a knot the size of my fist on my back; plus it was a little hard to walk around for a while.
And once the event was over, you were free to enjoy the reminder of the day at the park. All in all, it was a fantastic time! It's fun, it's for a great cause - I highly recommend you join us! You won't regret it! :)
It's going to vary a bit by park. While I think CP will do something similar to next year, I wouldn't expect the same thing elsewhere.

Yeah last year was a lot of fun, started around 7 or so, after a breakfast of pastries which I would recommend avoiding, since I was the puker mentioned earlier :)
But we were allowed to leave the ride at anytime and to re-enter through the exit ramp. Even being a bit queasy after the morning I still made quite a few rides but I spent most of my time in the park and hanging out at the bottom with the ladies from Give Kids the World, and Jeff. (yeah the quite guy in the corner)
I definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested!
