Celebration City is Open

Aren't SDC and Dollywood owned by the same people ?

If so, Dollywood needs the woodie more, the Tennessee Tornado just doesn't have enough thrill for the whole park.

Yes, Herchend Family Entertainment Owns -A Part In-Dollywood as well. They also have a Lease to Operate the Stone Mountain Natural Park and the Various Entertainment Attractions there.

Dollywood has a very Interesting History of Ownership. It opened as Rebel Railroad in 1961 and only had the Steam Train and Village Area. In 1970 it was bought by the Cleveland Browns Football Team, and Cedar Point's George Roose. It was Renamed Goldrush Junction. Then in 1976/1977 the Herchends bought it and renamed it Silver Dollar City/Tennessee (Intertesting, Silver Dollar City could have become a chain)

And then in 1985, Dolly Parton Came into it Somehow. The Story goes that she heard the Park was not doing so well, and decided to Buy Into It, or the Herchends had heard about her Interest in it and made her an offer for a Part Ownership Deal. (Some say she does not evan own a part in it, its just some sort of Licence Deal) Whatever happend, the Park Re-Opened as Dollywood on May 2nd, 1986.

Swoosh...and others....any *guesses* on when the Miler coaster should be opening....I'm hopeful for the post-SRM trip, and WILL be going to SDC/CC anyway. But I've heard some REALLY good things about some of these Milers, and would LOVE to get to ride one....:)

I would imagine within a couple of weeks. Most of the vertical construction was already complete - and if you saw the first picture you would see that the train is already on the tracks. It looks pretty intense and I can hardly wait to ride it as well.

Sorry guys, I forgot my e-mail that I used for this site! And when I remembered it, I hadto leave. So I finally got it all figured out!!

Do you bleed Blue?

I'm nervous about riding Jackabbit because i downloaded an on-ride video at coasterphotos.com (due to bandwidth and money they stopped) of screamer at Scandia park in California. They were grimacing with pain on every hill. Do any of you know if the pain was caused by low maintenance or an track problem that they fixed. or are they still rough. I'll still ride Jackrabbit it if it hurts.

The scenery looks great. That model T type car is a great touch to the park.

Edit: Bad grammar.

I haven't heard much about it honestly.

Maybe someone who has ridden that model at another location could tell us. But, the ride looks fairly good for its size and everything.

Cant you tell by the new thread I started.
To bad those West/East-siders are hatin the Ozarks.
Hey, DH, when are you going there next? I might be there on friday.

Do you bleed Blue?

Not sure when I will be down again. More than likely not until Children's Festival starts. I have two weddings in two weeks that I have to attend because, the first one - my fiance is a bride's maid, and the second one I am an usher. The second one is in Wichita, so we plan on stopping by Joyland while we are out there. We were at WOF this past Saturday, and we were reminded why we don't go on Saturdays. We will be going to SFStL soon - because Hurricane Harbor opens up. I will let you know though when we do plan on going - aren't you going to work this summer?

I might be able to get a job at Celebration City, just not sure cause it's a bit of a drive.

Do you bleed Blue?

70+ miles round trip isn't it? Well if you do decide to try for it - good luck. I just hope you don't end up a "mime" in the boardwalk area - I can't stand their uniforms down there. What is up with the Paris theme?

Well, mimes are better than if they shipped a lot of damn french people over here and did it. haha

Do you bleed Blue?
True that. I had a French roommate for a month at college - it didn't last too long (boy did he stink).

I just don't understand the outfits for that area. Oh well. Maybe you'll get on over by the Wildcat. That way I can see you and Jim in the same area.

Not *all* of 'em, ROFL....we'll be there right after SRM...:)

P.S. For anyone interested, I did find a good deal on a short trip to Branson....3 days, 2 parks (SDC/CC), $59. The only downside is that it didn't include any MUSIC while we were in town...;) (please note the *heaping helping* of sarcasm)
