Celebration City is Open

Swoosh, you may be in luck about next weekend, my kind-of behind the scenes tour was put back to next weekend. Sorry to get your hopes up this weekend!! I hope you had fun if you did go. I drove by the park on the way back, and it was so neat to see the park that we have been taking pictures of just kind of spring to life. I know that this park will not be a failure!

I was there Thur-Fri and Saturday. All I can say about the Thunderbolt is wow (I can invision SDC sticking thier tounge out at WOF and saying "top this"). Thunderbolt makes all the other coasters I've been on feel very tame. I also know that CC has very friendly staff, It really made the park so fun that I didn't even want to leave, Niether did alot of other people too. Some of my other favorite rdies there was the Orbitor (Magic Carped Ride packed with lots of air time), FireBall (Inverted Frisbee Ride), and Accelorator (S&S Double Shot).

On the days I went. I belive there were more people there in one day, than Branson USA ever had in one day. As of right now I know CC is a sucess.

OT: BTW I am fine the Tornado missed my house. I was even lucky to be typing this message as I didn't lose my power due to this storm in the Kansas City Area. I hope every one here is OK.

Thunderbolt? Are you talking about the steel, red and teal, Windstorm Thunderstorm or do you mean Wildcat?

Am I really that shy?

Well if he meant Thunderbolt. WOW cause that ride wasn't that great last time I rode it.

one more thing.

TORNADO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, those twisters were close. Missed my house by about 5 miles. (live in Basehor)

Alright, back to the topic. I'm gonna go to CC sometime this year, either in the summer or in November. I am definitely looking forward to the 'Cat. I voted for the mouse on the first survey, none of the others looked that great, unless they got a TopSpin. And, of course, the woodie for SDC. That would be amazing.

Bill, didn't get to go this past weekend - we had a funeral instead (lots of fun :( ) I can't go to SDC/CC the 10th, I forgot about a prior engagement that I have and will have to be at WOF instead this Saturday (I volunteered to chaperone the band trip a long time ago and well they decided that they were going this weekend. ) I plan on being at SDC/CC on Wednesday. I doubt you can go because of school, that's a bummer. More than likely I will be doing just a shoot of the park for MiG (will be at SDC for awhile as well).

I took the survery for SDC. Love the idea of the woodie. Great theming on that. The ice house sounds okay too, but just okay.

One thing that worries me though, is that from the language on the survey, it seems like they want to replace their rapids ride. Is this the case? Why would they want to do that? It's my favorite rapids ride anywhere (yes more then Bluto even!) and I would hate to see them take it out. Is ridership low on it?

No, they don't want to replace it - it's just that Lost River is one of the more popular rides in the park and has been there for awhile, so people would recognize it (not everyone taking that survey probably has been on Wildfire yet - think GP not us.) That's why. It will be around for a few more years.

We found a very large piece of metal roofing on top of our house this moring, along with many scaps of insulation and a shirt. The storms were horrible, and I am lucky my house is here right now.

I love Lost River!

Bill - I don't know if you caught it when I posted earlier - but this weekend is a no go. I have to be at WOF due to a prior committment that I didn't know about until this past weekend (read I got volunteered to chaperone a band trip).

If you can go Wednesday to SDC/CC I will be there, but since that is the middle of the week, I doubt you will be able to :( Can you come to WOF on Sat? ;)

Sure, I'll be there at WOF........ oh wait, I have a behind-the-scenes tour :) Sorry, had to rub it in. That is ok, maybe we can make a MiG trip some week day during the summer ;) Have fun at WOF, ride Mamaba a few times for me!

I saw the survey and saw the selections but I like all 3 selections. I do belive we need a Bird of Prey show at SDC. I also think that Ice House ride is a good idea too. As for the woodie I think wait a couple of years before building it, that way they'll wont take any thunder away from the Ozark Wildcat.

Not to be a butt or anything, but I think they are going to wait "a couple of years." That's why the survey said 2005.

Yea I've noticed that. The People at Screamscape made me think it was for next year at first.

Dollywood has the bird of prey sanctuary and show and it is a great attraction I think, so, I would not mind seeing SDC getting this also even if it means waiting a while longer for a wooden coaster to be added to the park.
The sanctuary is for injured birds that are healed and released back into the wild while the birds used in the show part of the attraction are birds of prey that can not be released back into the wild. Guessing this is how it would be set up at SDC also.

The Behind-the-scenes tour probably will not be much. I think we will get to go pretty close to "Celebrate!" the laser show... but besides that, we get to jump to the front of lines!!!!! The tour got moved to Friday too... for now any way! ;)

Chris, take what Lance Hart says on Screamscape with a grain of salt.

Bill, that's cool - have fun - I will tomorrow as I finally get to go on the Wildcat.

Jim, I agree, I think that it would be a cool addition as well - I don't see why they couldn't do that and a new ride though (even if the ride is a minor one).

Yea I would love too see a bird of prey attraction being placed at SDC, In fact I would love to see how I can get a job working with that atraction. I am quite fond of Birds of Prey, and I know quite a bit about them. As of right now most of the Birds of Prey I see at Silver Dollar City and Celebration City are Turkey Vultures. I would love to see a Bird of Prey show brought back to SDC. They hadn't had the Bird of Prey show for a few years and when they had it was only done in the fall by the people from Dollywood and The American Eagle Foundation. I hope SDC can get a neat Eagle Area like Dollywood has.

BTW I do know alot about the Birds of Prey (Raptors). Such as in most spices the Female is larger than the Male. This is likely due to the fact the Female defends the nest alot while the male hunts for the food.

Aren't SDC and Dollywood owned by the same people ?

If so, Dollywood needs the woodie more, the Tennessee Tornado just doesn't have enough thrill for the whole park.
