Cedar Point '07 Project

It will look really close to a regular inversion. ;)

LOL!!! Feel the burn Dan! Good one Jason.
CP seems to have quite a bit of faith in Intamin's launched coasters!

The ride looks like it's going to be an interesting experience, and the photo shows off a bit of theme. A $21 million budget seems high just for the coaster, so I am guessing that there is going to be quite a bit of effort put into the overall look.

So I guess that means that the old WWL station will be used for part of the qeue, as well as the base for the theming of the remainder of the station.

The picture also shows a lack of any further rides/attractions to accompany the coaster. I know it hasn't been talked about lately, but the idea was thrown around quite a lot at the beginning of the summer.

I'll be the first to eat my portion of crow (deep fried with some hot sauce, yummy). I was wrong and wouldn't have guessed something themed to this extent would be popping up at CP. I definately didn't see this one coming.

I have mixed emotions about it, but it does appear that it should offer an action packed ride. I'm looking forward to it and I'm glad it won't break any height or inversion record.

Yeah is Good!

Like bringing in some semi-mature trees they show there rather than waiting 10 years for small ones to grow in.

If this is in fact Maverick, is it possiblt the tunnel under the first lift is a record tunnel length? Not that it matters really, but it looks very long. The only other tunnel I can think of that would be very long would be on Hades at Mt. Olympus. *** Edited 9/1/2006 11:42:23 PM UTC by Jason Hammond***

OK...so what does this have "the most of"? It has been verified that Maverick will indeed have the "most" of something (i.e., inversions). What does this have the most of? The color red?

From the Toledo Blade:

Carole Sanderson, a Cleveland resident who is president of the American Coaster Enthusiasts group, said she knows what Cedar Point is building. In June, park officials told her their plans but swore her to secrecy.

"They always introduce a unique ride and I believe it will be something we've never seen before," she said.

The ride will have elements where the technology will be familiar, but will have the most of something, she hinted.

Overbanked turns? Hardly seems like a bragging point.

"this ride will turn right more than any other coaster"

I dont know...I wont believe this picture for a second until 9/7. *** Edited 9/1/2006 11:49:46 PM UTC by OhioStater***

Hmmm...I may go out on a limb and say maybe, most drop footage, as that and inversions is the only thing I can think of that can be multiple of. I saw the *alledged* photo, and there were a few hills based on that photo so...who knows.

Looks awesome though if it is, but for shame for showing us so early. *** Edited 9/1/2006 11:52:49 PM UTC by Coasterr***

I think MF outdoes this ride in drop footage within the first 1/3 of the ride. I just don't see any "most of" in this proposed "leak".

I'm changing my "most" guess to the most near collision points on a non-dueling coaster.

Again, I just dont see that as something anyone cares about, like height speed, inversions...

Imagine in a deep western voice, someone saying in the commercial: "experience Maverick...featuring the most near collision points on a non-dueling coaster"...

What? (thats what 99.99% of the people watching would say).

Perhaps track? That was my wife's guess.

well, they wouldn't say it like that. They could say, "Come experience a old fasioned duel where you'll chase your friends on your own personal maverick" (personal maverick would be a possible vekoma motorbike copy themed to a horse)

for those of you talking about a park suing a site, that won't be happening. Cedar Point Posted this picture on another website under the heading "FIRST LOOK AT MAVERICK BEFORE THE ANNOUNCEMENT".

So this picture on Screamscape.com is legit as this is the picture Cedar Point has posted elsewhere. and when you go into where the pic is, you learn that it says "Much more information will be added once Maverick is announced which is expected September 7th!"

Link?

A link would be inappropriate, just as a link to the other site with the picture and info would be. *** Edited 9/2/2006 12:22:19 AM UTC by Jason Hammond***

If Cedar Point posted the picture themselves elsewhere then why would it be innapropriate to link to it? *** Edited 9/2/2006 12:25:30 AM UTC by matt.***
