Jeff and Walt have both said---over and over again---that they do not allow (links to) pictures taken in a way that violates the law or park rules. Seeing as how they own the site, they get to decide this.It doesn't matter if you don't agree with them. It doesn't matter if you don't think it would harm anyone. It doesn't even matter why they've made this decision.
It just is.
There are several other fan sites out there that are more liberal with their photography policies.
Correct Sir!!!
And that's what I said, just not as well as you sir.
However, just to point out, NO laws where broken in looking at or taking the pic. We also do not know 100% for a fact that the pic was taken by someone who did not have the right to be where they took it at. Now in all reality we know the pic was taken by a rider on Mean Streak. But we can not be 100% sure that in was not taken by CP employee who had the right to be there, and to take a pic. Hell for all we know it could be a pic put out by a PR person at CP to help create more chatter. But as you and I stated, it does'nt matter. It's not our site. Maybe Mr CoasterBuzzer can understand that? *** Edited 8/31/2006 8:59:23 AM UTC by indyandrew***
Employees must adhere to all riding policies when riding: in uniform or not. This would include taking pictures on a ride.
I think the blog is the only thing out there that's CP creating more chatter...and it does a fairly good job at that. The employees at CP are too busy and have far more important things to do than take rogue pictures and put them out on the internet for enthusiasts to ponder.

**sigh** 3 days now, and you're STILL bringing up that photo. What's done is done, people... let's move on. Construction has progressed since then & an announcement date has also been made. Let's just drop it.
As for the picture, my view is, when it was taken it was illegal, and shouldn't be on here. But now, the picture is out of date, and we don't need to reference it any more.
And have we figured out that track yet?

Only marketing could conceivably take pictures from a ride, but even then it could only be with a camera mounted to the train in some way.
Is this camera mounted rule an industry standard? Or just CP specific?
I ask because a couple weeks back, PKI allowed a morning radio show to ride the Beast and bring along hand held microphone and camera on the train with them.
After seeing this video, I ask, why is it "safe" for some people to do it, but not for others?
The clip in question:

However, just to be clear, you are also wrong. This is so clear cut that it's not even arguable. The only people who can take and distribute pictures from non-guest-accessible areas without violating either their employment agreement or a park rule are the PR employees. Seeing as how PR isn't making an announcement for another two weeks, well, it wasn't them.
You remind me of my student lawyers. These are the students that look to grub for better grades on technicalities. They always lose, because I am the professor, and I'm the one who assigns grades. Likewise, you will always lose this argument, because Jeff owns the site, and he's the one who decides what is okay and what is not.
As for allowing the camera on the ride, it's a little free PR for KI. They seem to allow any news or media outlet to make some sort of on ride photography as long as they get permission ahead of time and as long as they take safety precautions. If I had to guess from that video there was NOBODY on the train behind them. I'm not sure how they secured the camera but I have never seen a video that had a cameraman actually HOLDING a camera in the second row. Generally though most parks ban on ride photography on most if not all of their rides. It's not that they are trying to make you miserable, it is a MAJOR safety concern. A digital camera to the head at 60 miles an hour is going to hurt.

Incorrect sir! I believe that pic was already posted over at Pointbuzz and consequently taken off the site. Obviously, it was not taken with permission. Case closed.
And I was listening to Dave and Jimmy, it was 2 weeks ago. And it was freakin' HILARIOUS. I laughed the entire time. And they did set it up ahead of time, earlier that week, it wasn't a, let's go to PKI and ride the Beast, and oh yea we want to video tape it. But it was funny.
But I think he would have had a fit on Mean Streak, sitting in that back row, he would have crapped himself. And i'm probably heading up to CP again this weekend, that's if I get my tire fixed.
Not saying that's what happened, but it IS dicey to make assumptions about who/how the pics were taken...
and i have to find a way to get this uhhh sketch sort of picture that someone did that is supposed to be what the ride will look like and it does feature a lift hill and a launch under the station
question how do you post a picture? *** Edited 8/31/2006 4:54:17 PM UTC by KAPrep9008***
And from looking at the webcam today, the launch/brake/straightaway section seems to go straight into another turn.

let's say for the sake of argument that CF told a mechanic to snap a few pics while WALKING the track on Mean Streak...
But that's a totally nonsensical hypothesis. That's not the mechanic's job. That's PRs job. And, if it were PR, you can bet your bottom dollar it would be in the blog.
What you suggest is not technically impossible, but it is so improbable that we might as well argue that quantum uncertainty effects temporarily transported a guest's camera to mid-air when the picture was taken.
As for the No Limits model, it is old news, I posted it like 2/3 weeks ago. And it's not true. Looking at the model first, then going to the park, the "Water" track has 2 turns over it. In some of thos links you can see the footers in the water. but I do support the LIM launch under the track.
And is anyone tracking the amount of track that is coming in each week. This coaster is going to be a monster. There is alot of track on the site, as well as track at breakers. but all will unfold in 7 days, seeing as my mission to figure out this coaster, isn't getting any closer to completion, as i'm not getting any new photos nor info.
Just saying that it really isn't appropriate, IMO, for every single poster to jump to a conclusion any time a picture comes up that's...questionable. Considering it's a CF park, there's really no doubt...since virtually everything is prohibited... :)
