Cedar Point '07 Project

Who cares what it is? It's a reason to go back to Cedar Point, and that's why they're building something. I'll be there. :)

The Flying Turns makes all the right people wet - Gonch

Nasai, You should care though. These descisions on what to build in the nagotiation room will determine how many extra people come walking through that gate. If you build a new ride that is what people want to see apposed to what they don't want to see will be thousands of people walking through that gate and that's big money when you just invested fifteen or twenty million dollars.
No way, CoasterDiscern. Most people don't know what a floorless is, or what El Toro is, etc. Nasai is right...Cedar Point builds a new roller coaster, and people will be happy and come to check it out, no matter if it's X, Y or Z.

You think Joe Blow would be disappointed and not go to the park if they built a Florless instead of something different? Not a chance.

Agreed Peabody. But it seems like coasterdiscern here seems to think that he knows everything... ;)

What is the logic behind track pieces showing up now? Even as large as MF and Dragster are, there track pieces didn't show up until late summer early fall.
That is not accurate. I tracked down the customs broker that got Millennium Force track into the country (if I recall, port was Montreal then came intermodal through Detroit), and the first pieces arrived December, 1998.

Amazing. That must have been what I was thinking of up above. I would suspect that Dragster track was around before we knew also.

How does no one have pictures from opening day?!

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
I'm so disappointed. It's Intamin...again. I sure do hope it's Aqua Trax....wait a minute...what a great idea! I would love that. *** Edited 5/7/2006 11:18:34 AM UTC by PeteSpeed2009***

And even though they didnt own GL at the time, why build WT when it is so similar to a competing park a little over an hour away?

You said it yourself.. It was a competing park that they did not own at the time. Popular ride at your nearest neighbor?? ok build one a little different to draw in customers.

I really dont think that what another park, whether in the same chain or not has or will ever dictate what any of the CF parks will get as a future attraction.

Actually, this happens alot more than you think. It has been stated before that the CF people liked S:UE when it opened and was the inspiration for WT. Same thing was said about Delirium at Kings Island and look what CP got last year.

It's difficult to even wrap your head around what you're seeing in those photos, the area looks so completely different. Wow.

I still think some sort of water coaster is very possible as other people have been saying, but the layout of this thing looks awfully expansive. Just the size and scope of the construction is really clarified when you see those footers in the swan boat pond, but then all of those other markers all over the back of the park there. Hmm.

Although I guess not all markers and footers have to all be for the same ride. *** Edited 5/7/2006 1:13:40 PM UTC by matt.***

As far as it being too early to be seeing track show up, how could it be too early?Locals could tell you better, but with my few experiences with Sandusky's winters, they seem to be more unpredictable than the summers. So why not get as much done now while you can, with out giving away too much.

The clue dropping has begun too. And it seems the theme is well under way.

"Here we go again!"

"Were goin' in a whole new direction!"

"Back up, Bronco..."

All I know for sure is my poor wife is getting ready to be dragged into another solid year of coaster discussions. She's just now getting over the past year of Voyage conversations. *** Edited 5/7/2006 1:06:39 PM UTC by Floorless Fan***

Yeah, back up Bronco. First CP coaster to travel backwards, perhaps?

Well in that case, they should have no problem getting a floorless or flyer in years to come ;)

Why is track arriving early? If you were buying Intamin, especially after TTD, wouldn't you want to get it up and testing as soon as possible? : )

Geez, did they really have to rip out two dozen trees back there? I hope it doesn't end up looking bare when they're done building "whatever it is".

Knowing CP, they will plant more trees in that area once construction is done, or in another area. They are pretty good about trees.
