Cedar Point '07 Project

Wha?

I see what hes saying, Millennium Force (2000) was the last coaster they built with any sort of a long layout. Since then it's been Wicked Twister and TTD. This is the first coaster in about 6/7 years that has a real drawn out layout to it.

As for the loop, I heard it's a debate between Superman Krypton Coaster at SFFT, and Dominator at GL. (for actual diameter of the loops, not just height) *** Edited 8/9/2006 2:18:25 AM UTC by P18***

It would be cool to launch into the worlds largest loop. What is the largest loop on a launched coaster? Speed:TR? Hulk?
Like I posted on another site, I think that what we're seeing is just a hint to what they're really building. I think they just want to stir, if you forgive me, up the 'bees nest' to get everyone talking about them again. They know that everyone expects something big, so why would they set everyone up for a huge dissapointment? I don't think that they'll give anything away until they are ready to announce to everyone what they're really doing. I don't think that they'll start really working on the main parts of the ride until the park is closed and that lake's frozen over so no one can get close.

I think they are working on whatever makes the best business sense, not what is going to get a bunch of enthusiasts talking the most.
agreed^

People say whatever makes the best business sense, but in some of the things they do, they must have the enthusiast in mind. Like, why did they wait so long to announce Dragster? The tower was almost halfway done before they even made comments about it. Was it for the general public's sake? Heck no. What do they care about the construction of the ride?

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
I think the LIM idea, if this already hasn't been decided, has to be considered an essential lock. The pieces in the staging area with the flat plates covering the top of the track are ridiculously similar to the track that Wicked Twister's LIMs are attached to.
There could have been a dozen reasons why they waited. Most likely one of them wasn't because of "us".

Didn't Gonch a shirt for sale in the past saying something along the lines of "we enthusiasts make up 0.0000001% of attendance... give us ERT now!"? The ERT doesn't apply, but the fact that we are a minuscule percentage of their attendance is. Making decisions to please/taunt us is stupid.

For some reason the comment on the blog about the small construction site makes me think this is not the main part of it...

No it wasn't me mentioning the shirt, but for the record it's an ARN&R shirt... and it's spot on. :)

My enthusiast group makes up fully 0.05% of the attendance at this park.

Give us ERT now.

Maybe they (CEdar Point) wants to test it extensively before opening it to the public so they can work out any kinks the ride may experience. *** Edited 8/9/2006 11:10:53 AM UTC by RoarsLoudly***

If you're really truly dissapointed by this announcement, no matter what the coaster turns out to be, the only person people will have to blame is themselves.

All Cedar Point has done is started construction, and thrown out a few teasers in the form of signage, and on their blog. This is par for the course. Set your expectations too high and you'll always be dissapointed every time.

Well, they do call it "Project 2007"... so expectations are high. It's not anything like "Please Excuse Our Mess. New Attraction In 2007"... it was given a key-phrase that's been the talk of the town for Cedar Po!nt.

Because of that, a lot of people... whether it be locals, season pass holders, or us enthusiasts who keep up with the latest the park has to offer... expect that this will be something great! Will it be some kind of big themed ride... something that Cedar Point said they'd never do again after Dragster (maybe I quoted that wrong)?? Will it be a dueling/racing coaster? Will it be a record breaker in any way?

Anything's possible... but expectations are high based upon the teasers Cedar Po!nt has been throwing out since early this year with the phrase of "Project 2007".

That's true, maybe I and some others are getting our expectations too high. They have been concentrating on breaking records with their past coasters, maybe they're just putting in a new ride that's going to be well laid out? Sorry to go out and say that a lot of people will be dissapointed.

I made a miniature house out of graham crackers and sugary icing in 5th grade.

It was called the Gingerbread House Project.

Snack food enthusiasts everywhere were devastated.

Top Thrill Dragster's announcement was pushed back because of the publicity the construction was generating:

I can reveal this now because the 'beans have been spilled,' but we originally planned to announce Top Thrill Dragster on August 28 -- that was the magical date internally. Then came the buzz. The speculation. The rumors. It seemed everyone was talking about what in the world was behind 'the wall' on the midway and trying to guess the height, the speed, the name, etc. It really took on a life of its own. It was at that point in mid-summer that the decision was made to hold off on our announcement for Top Thrill Dragster until January and ride out the wave of excitement, all while 'teasing' it."

Which, of course, has exactly nothing to do with what's going on out there now. :) But just wanted to at least clear that up.
