Cedar Point '07 Project

I couldn't tell you, jd221, but it has been generally agreed upon that the article is illegitimate, so it's safe to assume I was had.

^ This is #1 inaccuracy

#2 - This is absolutely NOT the typeface that the Post Gazette uses.

#3 - The Post Gazette does not end articles with a large black box

#4 - Jerry Dolan has never written an article for the PG. In fact, the only mention of Jerry Dolan on the PG site is as a runner in these local marathon results: http://www.post-gazette.com/sports_headlines/19990927graceresults5.asp

#5 - The previously much-mentioned ridiculous amount of enthusiast-correct ride manufacturers, dates, coaster type names, etc.

It's a hoax. Either he did it himself (I think to be the case since he had the text available to paste into this thread on page 30) or someone he knows who is also an enthusiast is taking him for a ride.

Quit speculating about it people, it's not worth your time. (Edit: Ok, Moosh is right, but I still don't like this guy ...)

I agree to all but the last point.
I feel like I'm speaking to a wall...One last time, just for you, Impulsive, I will state that I am not responsible for the article. It was sent to me. I didn't know how to put up a link to non-webpage material, so I re-typed it. The article was later put up in original form for public view. It was denounced as a rumor. End of story. I wasn't trying anything malicious. So, for the record, I don't give a busted brake fin if you don't like me.

Back to Cedar Point...

Has there been any release of a date for a press unveiling of the name/type of the ride yet? It's killing me to sit here and watch the same banter go back and forth for 32 pages. Surely there must be some lead beyond "It's definitely an Intamin" by this point?

who really cares if its innacurate or not? if it is a hoax, fine, whatever. if it is true, thats great. simple as that. its nice to know that it might be a possibility, but dont argue over it.

Well...it's not an inverted! ;)

I do believe that KW will go ahead with a new wooden coaster soon but not before 2009. If they do go with the Gravity Group,, it won't be until after the Waldameer project is finished in 2008.

If GG is going to start doing more than one project at the same time, they would most likely do them in different parts of the country. This would enhance the value of the new coasters for the parks that get them.

The reason that I believe that KW will go ahead with the woodie before the highway is begun is because they need a new signature attraction to strengthen their position vs Geauga Lake. GL is going to continue their comeback and KW wants to make sure that this doesn't come at their expense. Also, the new coaster might draw some people from central PA and Maryland that normally go to other parks.

The main advantage of adding the wooden coaster is that is has a relatively small upfront cost compared to its potential impact. Think of it as two Screamin' Swings in terms of cost of construction.

Can we PLEASE move past the Kennywood rumor discussion in this thread? Thank you.

We tried that, but Jeff closed the thread.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The more I look at construction pics of the supports going up at CP...could this be Intamin's version of a Motobike coaster? Except with horses instead of motorcycles? Sort of a souped up Steeplechase? With what appears to be a whole lot of low to the ground helices, I cant imagine this being a traditional coaster. Wasnt there a sign that said something about 'your spurs'...I donno...too lazy to look. But anyway, just a few thoughts.
A steeplechase would be great!

So far it looks like an Intamin lsm/lim launched coaster. i dont think it wil lbe anything special unless they do somehting different with it like make it go backwards at one point . Can you launch a train backwards via lsm or lim ?

I want to say an inverted coaster launched like wicked twister because there is a track piece thats curved and looks like a piece of wicked twister but the supports look like it would put the track to close to the ground. *** Edited 7/28/2006 8:55:33 PM UTC by majortom1981***

Can you? Sure. Would you want to be launched backwards? Dunno.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

^ All of the impulse coasters launch trains backwards using lim technology. I don't imagine launching a train from a stand still going backwards would be very comforatable... at least not at high speeds. It just wouldn't make sense.
I am just trying to figure out something there is a piece of track that is exactly like a piece of track on wicked twister and california screamin. Both I think lsm or lim launched coasters but the track piece is bent in a way that it looks like it belongs to an inverted coaster unless its a track for a block break section.
The suppots wouldn't work for an inverted coaster, besides CP already has two inverts and one is by Intamin.
I think 07 is an Intamin 4D. That's my bet.

I shudder at the maintainance. *** Edited 7/28/2006 11:02:59 PM UTC by Vincent Greene***
