Cedar Point '07 Project

I think we may be victim's to a hoax.
That's what I fear, but I'm just too optimistic and enthusiastic when it comes to coaster talk, particularly Kennywood coaster talk, to let this one go without so much as a whisper or comment.

No offense, but if I had found huge news such as a Kennywood expansion of that magnitude, I wouldn't have buried the news on the 30th page of a thread about Cedar Point's new coaster.

It really sounds like you never had much confidence in the article to begin with....

I didn't bury anything. The reason this all escalated was because I compared the possible idea of a Kennywood rocket to the possibility of Cedar Point's Intamin turning out to be as much. Then details were asked for. Then I offered the article up to people on this forum thread. Granted, it's not appropriately placed, but I didn't think to start a new thread at the time. It wasn't until page 29 that I even began posting on this thread and not until 30 that I had the scanned article available to give out. My bad. Aside from that, any lack of confidence I have in the information in the article is a result of the almost total lack of similar or related material when it is searched for, not because of where I posted the information on a website forum.

Quick postscript: I am very well aware Cedar Point has a rocket already, but anything comparable to the alledged design listed in the article would vastly out-do TTD in terms of layout and overall ride experience, as it wouldn't be an under 20 second experience. *** Edited 7/27/2006 11:08:56 PM UTC by Demopoulator***

Official kennywood thread....

Now, back to our cp talk.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Demo - I think what matt is referring to is that it appears you were not making any noise the moment you got the article. I would suspect that most enthusiasts would immediately jump online and start talking about the info they were just given, such as starting a new post call "Article describes massive Kennywood expansion plans" or something.
cedar point has never let me down. im sure this new ride will be incredible!
Oh, alright, Bob... :)

As it was said earlier, the supports for the brake run on the CP project DO bear a remarkable similarity to a certain other red, Swiss-built accelrator project...

I understand. I haven't had an internet accesible computer in some time. Coasterbuzz sort of becomes inaccessible without the wonderful world wide web at one's disposal. Ah well. Back to the initial topic, has anyone caught a glimpse of anything at Cedar Point that might resemble launch track to house a hydrualic winch?

~All hail Arrow
maybe a new type of launch system? is this possible?
maybe intamin found a way of launching a coaster without any problems?
most of theirs are fairly reliable; the slower ones really aren't problematic... your Wicked Twisters and so forth.
Ha.. Are you saying impulse coasters are non-maintance problems?

Look at Venom, its dead for the next few weeks...

There is some "mechanical" destruction caused by the train on the launch portion of the ride... The train is half off in the station as of 7/26. *** Edited 7/27/2006 11:28:07 PM UTC by SteveWoA***

Just a thought...

It could be some sort of "reverser" coaster? It would launch, go thrue the circut and come to a reverser table and do it all backwords?

It could even take a differant circut backwords to the station.

Just an idea I thought of after reading the " whole new direction" sign.

Cool idea!
Wouldn't suprise me, after what's just gone on with Expedition Everest in that respect. Hey, if Vekoma can do it... ;)

Demo,

not trying to rip on ya, but I think the article you've been given is a hoax. It looks "Rather" fishy to me....

- I've never seen a newspaper use a standard word processor "Courier" font before.

- I've never seen a newspaper article that didn't use 'edge' justification either. Look at how the left edge of all of the paragraphs is aligned, and the right varies. Most newspaper articles I've seen stretch the spacing of the letters/words to make the right edge aligned as well.

Who knows? You might just be in contact with a future CBS reporter... ;)

Later,
EV

hahahaha. I haven't taken anything in it as hard evidence yet, as I've said again and again. I just think it'd be selfish of anyone to hear something of this order and not at least share it for discussion. At least we know for a fact that Kennywood does have additions en route. That's all I'm really concerened about. In any case, it stimulated some discussion, so I feel as if the article, hoax or not, has been used for whatever it's worth. :)

Hi all...I am usually a lurker and keep my comments to myself, but wanted to raise my questions about the supposed kw article... In the article, the writer quotes Harry Henninger and refers to him as presidnt of kw entertainment... Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that when Jerome Gibas became GM of kw, Henninger had already stepped down as president and former park GM Pete Macaneny (sp) had taken over as president of the company? This throws up the red flag immediately if I am correct? Can anyone confirm this?
