Cedar Point '07 Project

I think the arrangment of the footers would indicate that, yes. With a low to the ground layout like that, much of the course is going to be taken at a relatively high speed. I can't point to anything specific in the footers but I don't really see the large swooping turns that would be needed for something like that if the top speed was that of your average adult coaster.

I also don't think it will break the inversion record. The current record holder is virutally all loopies, and not much else, and it *still* takes that long like of zero-g rolls to break the record. To do that without those consecutive zero-g rolls you're going to need quite a long track length, and still have very little trackage for anything but loopies.

I think this looks somewhat accurate, and if they were really going for the inversion record, I don't think they'd have much time for elements like this.

While the general idea might be close a couple of things are off i that picture. For instance, when Intamin uses a two footer support, one of them is almost always vertical unless something is running underneath. The single footer supports are also usually vertical for the most part.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

who says what intamin has done in the past dictates what they are going to be doing now and in the future? you are right though, but i do like where he is going with this mock up (i saw it over at pointbuzz myself)

Agreed, but I think the general shape of the track has to be somewhat close to that. The biggest thing that I think is off is the way the supports from the single footers angle out so severely out into the water. At that point the posts should be vertical like you said, I would think.

Whatever is going on there I can't possibly imagine it being some sort of inversion. And when you're looking to build a ride with 11 inversions, how much time will you have for elements like that, you know? *** Edited 7/9/2006 2:29:49 AM UTC by matt.***

I was at the park this weekend, and there are now supports in the construction area. There is also a crane that I assume will be used to put them in place.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Linnanmaki is getting an Intamin Ball Coaster.

http://rcdb.com/id3613.htm

Length: 465' 11"
Height: 83' 4"
Inversions: 0
Speed: 27.3 mph
Duration: 1:00

Unless CP is building something vastly, vastly different, I don't think CP is building an Intamin Ball coaster.

Anything new in 2 days Supports going up yet maybe?

With the family oriented direction Paramount and Six Flags have been heading lately, my money is on a water coaster (Aqua-Trax?).

^Thats what some had said near the begining of this thread. I recently viewed a picture of an aquatrax and it's track didn't seem to be much different than what we have seen with the CP '07 track.

Has there been any progress with-in the last few days on the new coaster? Are any supports up yet? This would really help determin the lay-out.

No supports up as of the latest update on www.Pointbuzz.com (which I would suggest visiting if you want the latest info).

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

Thanks CPLady
Thought I would join this wonderful forum and talk about this latest coaster being built at cedar point, which I recently found out was underway. I would have to say it looks like its gonna be a looper and could possibly contain a launching station.

I don't know if this has been posted yet because I've been following a lot of this, but there's no way to tell on 28 pages. But, here is a question off of Cedar Point's site on their FAQ page:

What is being built at the former site of White Water Landing?
Construction of a new project for 2007 is currently underway at the former site of White Water Landing. Additional information will be available later in the year.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
and your point?
Thats the question these 28 pages rest on! It won't take long for you to read them either :)
I believe the point is that an announcement will be made this year, as opposed to January and beyond.

Man, Im so out of the loop right now... all my friends are big on construction at the parks whereas Im concerned with construction, window replacement and siding installed on my house.

I've only looked at a few picts here and there, but other than that, I just haven't really been exicited about this thing yet.

Whatever it is, I hope it's a resonable investment that appeals to families more.
