Imamine what they could do with steel.

The first coaster to be built facing Mecca?

Imamine is making rides now! "Women" are not allowed to ride?

HaHa.

Does the phrase "river in Egypt" ring a bell?

I take it this is a big hint.

Well, when there are dozens of photographs of Intamin track on the lawn by the Breakers Express, and someone suggests that it won't be an Intamin coaster, they're like the fishes of Cairo, living in de Nile.
There's a video up on YouTube with animation of the Port Aventura coaster.

Could this also be Cedar Points new coaster?? Hmmm...

Intamin builds that half-pipe thing too, right?

Just sayin', all we KNOW for certain at this *Po!nt* is that it's Intamin...and we've been talking about the lack of spinning COASTERS at CP...something else to ponder. :)

Ok, so the one being built at Aventura is similar to a 4D in that the seats are on the outside, but don't rotate, correct?
I believe so, matt..

If so, here's a simple question:

How come we're in 2006 and nobody has done this already? Seems like an easy way to make a very unique, very marketable coaster without a lot of technical risks involved, you know?

I mean X is about 5 years old now, the first inverted coaster is now 14(!) years old, and the first modern below the track coaster was built back in 1980.

Just the possibilities of a steel coaster with no track above or below you just really piques my interest I guess.

that port adventura coaster seems like a waste. it looks boring, how do you feel any sensation different from what you would feel from regular style trains?? if this is what CP might be getting in 07' then i hope that somehow in the station they flip the seats forward, creating a flying effect. i must apologize but being launched in the flying position would be really cool as opposed to be launched and sitting on the side of a train? how is the sensation anything different from a B&M floorless train? (besides being launched).

I think the thrill would come from not having any track above or below you, just the feeling of freedom of being out there in the open.

I think it would be totally exhilarating. I mean, if its a good coaster with a fun layout the seat configuration would just be icing on the cake anyway. *** Edited 6/8/2006 2:03:14 AM UTC by matt.***

I would rather have a 4D coaster like X or Eejanaika. I think that wingwalker disign is pritty dumb.

It would be cool if they made a luanched 4D coaster! Just imagine the intensity of being fliped while getting launched.

Maybe they should build an Oblivion that goes right in the water. Here's the twist, it's a flying dive coaster!

Let's give that sue happy crowd something to dig their teeth into! The first ever Dive coaster that slams you into stagnent water at 120 mph!

Don't forget to see the companion ride: Malaria, trip of the drips!

Truly Scarey stuff there, kids!

Geez, and if CP *was* building a launched 4D or launched flyer or something then the same people begging for that would then go on to complain that it isn't tall/fast/whatever enough.

Beware the Undulating Curve of Shifting Expectations!

Anybody just slightly interested, this illustration pretty much perfectly reflects the sort of thing that happens with new attractions these days.

Actually there's more like 2 curves for most new attractions I bet, one for when the initial rumors and construction starts (like now) and then another for when the announcement comes and just before the ride is opened to the public. *** Edited 6/8/2006 9:22:05 PM UTC by matt.***

something tells me there will be a helix over the water? (end sarcasm)
There is some new pictures on RollerCoasterPro.

The tracks look a lot like Rita's tracks with all the turns and it look like a lonk chain of footer to suport a luanch section.

Pray that it is much better than Rita. That ride was a disappointment.

It would be that much less interesting in Dragster's shadow.

I'll stick with that wingrider theory. That is a unique ride, even in CP's massive coaster lineup (which doesn't have a floorless or 4D ride.

Or a flyer, or a "regular" sitdown looper (aside from Corkscrew, or many other rides that would make more sense for them right now, imo.

Honestly while I like the idea of the wingrider (obviously) I don't think it will happen. Here's why:

http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/updates/cp6.8.06/100_1058.jpg

Obviously the train is going to dive down towards the water going from right to left in the photo, and then raise up as the train comes closer to the camera (or vice versa).

Unless the portion of the curve closest to the water is relatively flat (and I doubt it, this is Intamin we're talking about) the track is going to have to be quite high up in the air to keep the people on the left side of the train from taking a dip. Considering the weight of the train from having cars on the side of the track, I don't see how they could do that with a single support from a single footer.

Its still pretty early here, though, I hope that all makes sense. *** Edited 6/12/2006 10:27:48 PM UTC by matt.***

I'm just hoping for a fun, smooth, enjoyable coaster. A 4D or Wingrider would be great though!
