Busch Gardens Williamsburg Future?

Peabody...
Yes it was. It was the 'Biggest total drop height' when you added all the vertical drops, which they actually used in their marketing the year it opened.

I don't think Hershey even enters into their thinking. Most locals to BGW have never even considered going to HersheyPark, and at the very least have never heard of StormRunner. Hershey doesn't 'do' central/Southern Virginia.

Something like Kumba would be extremely awesome. I would love to see something like that closer to home.

Re: RavenTTD's post -

Well, LNM is a multi-looper in the sense that it has two loops. Maybe I should have used "multi-inversion" or "multi-element" coaster?

Sure Alpengeist is there, but it's an invert. Totally different ride experience, IMHO.

Not saying that's what they need. I'd like to see wood as much as any of you. Just thinking as realistically as I can.

I guess a Dive Machine could make as much sense as long as you work on the assumption of a 'BGT just did one' connection and admittedly, the BGW terrain offers lots of possibility.

I just don't think you'd see anything too (for lack of a better term) 'gimmicky' at BGW.

And if it were my park, I'd keep the coasters spread. Maybe a slight reworking of the area where DF used to be making it more accessable.

Just random thoughts and ideas. :)

Do you guys ever ride exciting coasters? You all talk about woodies and small launch coasters. I would like to know why? The park needs excitement, not another B&M coaster that doesn't do much but bring you back to the station disappointed!
I find all rollercoaster to be exciting. Does anyone think that Busch may put a Dive Machine in BGW sometime soon?

I thought BGW was a better choice for the Dive Machine that Busch had already bought....so what do *I* know? ;)

LOL, all that terrain means that BGW has options out the wazoo....(can I say wazoo on here?)... :)

Personally, I think BGW has fantastic coasters save for the obvious lack of wood....but they're also lacking flat rides...

OTOH, since BGW already HAS two of the finest Arrows in existence, maybe they can get a clone of Tennessee Tornado...;)

Gonchar: I agree that they seem unlikely to take the gimmick route. I would have cried gimmick on Oblivion and G5, but I think that Sheikra got past it. If they build one (need not be terribly tall) with just as many or more elements tailored to their park they would have a real winner (and crowd pleaser).

But, as their coasters are "park enhancers" rather than the new ride being the sole draw to the park (see many "other" parks) the floorless thought might be just as successful. None of the immediate "competition" has one, and lets face it, they're really not competing with SFGAd. Different market, different demographic.

A coaster I think they would theme extremely well if they ever got one, would be a dueling steel coaster, see IOA. So many possibilities in a European theme environment for a dueling steelie. Although, it is pretty "gimmicky."

Also, if they could pull a wooden coaster off, kudos to them, I just don't see it happening. :)

They could pull it off in new france.
I don't think there's room anywhere in New France for a coaster and I don't think they'd put anything that close to Alpengeist. They can't expand New France in any direction since the back area, employee entrance, and offices are right behind it.

As far as the Drachen Fire site, I think they could put a new coaster there since they used to have a different one there, it's not as though it's a new area of the park that no one has heard of. I think they would have to open up the entrance of it a bit so that people could find it easily, but that would be tough due to the layout of the Wolf.

I thought of a dive machine, that would be a great idea, but I don't think they'd build a floorless. Parks that set out to build a lot of coasters (like SFGAdv and SFMM) can get away with a floorless and an invert in the same park but I think BGW would go for more diversity. A dive machine with an overbanked turn over the Rhine River would be a fun ride or, if they want to use Drachen Fire's site and keep with the German dragon theme, maybe a B&M flyer with a dive over the river.

I'm not sure what their height restriction is or even if they have one but Alpengeist's lift is 195 feet tall so, even if they're limited by that, they still have a lot of options.

I agree that they should have built a new coaster at BGW since it's been six years, but more than likely BGT got Wilde Maus and SheiKra to draw crowds from the Orlando parks. I think DarKastle kinda says "we have to send money to Tampa so we can't build a coaster in Williamsburg this year, but here's something cool that would fit where the Maus used to be."

I suppose there could be a restriction.....AC's lift height is under 200ft too, no? Any nearby air fields?

The question is what coaster or thrill ride could they use next??? I think they could use 2 in my opinion.
You know, we just might have been discussing that in the previous posts...you might want to read them!!

Yeah sorry about that, but don't you agree that they should add like 2 more coasters or a thrill ride and a coaster just to fill up BGW??? Because they have a little more work to do in my opinion in terms of coasters & thrill rides.
Maybe I'll try again...

BGW will never be a park for teenagers and young adults. All they care about is senior citizens and young children. I will never understand their ways of thinking!
I want to say Chariot's lift is 170 feet high. I should know since I used to work there, I can tell you it's a lot of steps though. I think the closest airfield is NN/Wmbg Int'l airport, maybe 10 miles to the Southeast.
I agree completely with you Jaychiller.
I like the idea of a flyer over the Rhine River. Thats would be really nice. There was rumors a few years back that Dorney and CP where gonna put Flyers over there river rapid rides and at the time that sounds so cool. Come so close to the water.

Thanks,
DMC

Not a bad idea. But, I'd personally prefer another ride. Those flyers just don't do much for me (and many around here it seems!)
