A mother was asked to leave the wading pool at Six Flags Great America while breastfeeding, citing health concerns. If found true, the request would violate Illinois law.
Read more from The Chicago Tribune.
And, yes, Spongebob, babies do *GASP* splash and get their faces wet in the pool. And my 2 year old plays in my 36,000 gallon inground pool with me and we dunk her in the pool all the time. She thinks it's fun.
The difference here? I'm not so overly sensative so that you eating Oreos and Milk offends me if you do it in public.;)
And while I have no problem with the Illinois law regarding breast feeding, just because "it's law" doesn't mean everyone agrees with it. Abortion is legal in this country, and there are just as many people that are okay with as those that are not.
Never intended to suggest that everone agree. Quite the opposite, I encourage differring opinions. However, if an opinion is proffered that thinks my view is "wrong" I require those challenging me to provide some basis for their dissent. Otherwise, I dismiss it as worthless blather.
As for the law, I'm just stating that there was no need for the lady to modify her behavior. Because the law *is* the law, the lifeguard had no right to bother the lady. The lady was clearly in the right.
If you dont *like* the rules, try and change them. See the whole "Roe" thing ;)
never been in a wading pool, just an hour ago i didnt know what it was
And yet you have your panties all in a bunch about the "danger" to the baby at the park. Nice to see a good informed opinion!

True, but it DOES mean she had every right to feed the baby where she did.
what the hell are you talking about?

It happens all the time. It is called "drown proofing" your baby. They offer classes like that all the time at local swimming places.

Jeff said "Douche because your menstruation smells bad" Please don't stop that. ;)
As far as "Stay at home and take care of your kids" goes, get real. The only problem I can see is if you don't keep the kid cool it wouldn't be good, otherwise what are kiddie lands for?
Tina, as far as loosing all clothes, NOBODY wants to see me without them, and too many sensitive things could get sunburned! ;)

He was saying that for someone that didn't know what a wading pool was, you sure were getting all upset about someone's safety in a wading pool. How can you claim to be concerned when you don't even know what a wading pool is, much less anything about wading pool safety.
Oh, thats right, you're 13 and using curse words to make yourself look more 'mature'. Nevermind.
i didnt know that
Is everyone else as shocked by this revelation as I am?
Tekno explained "what the hell I meant" perfectly well.
You know, some other people commented about the four month old baby being at the park. Even IF we conceed that point (and I'm not), what if the baby was a year old? What if it was the two year old that was still nursing? Should the mother STILL be confined to her home?
(Yes, it's perfectly appropriate and natural to nurse past a year)
Yes. We know you had been informed an hour before what a wading pool was. But that still doesn't make you an expert on safety precautions.
Shouldn't you be watching NickToons or something? I hear a new episode of Fairly Odd Newbies is on right now. Maybe you can understand that.
Dirty minded people will always look at things like this as dirty, even though you see more of a womans boobs in a bikini than when nursing. It is an excuse to hide their dirty thoughts.
Ed
Men who cringe at the sight of a breast used for its God-given purpose while hoping other women's breasts three feet away fall out of their bikinis.
But let's tackle this issue head on. How much breast would anyone actually see with an infant's lips firmly latched to a nipple--even without a blanket? More or less than you'd see in a two-piece? Let's not forget the baby has a head attached to those lips that further obstruct any 'view.'
And has anyone who protests that women should express milk for later actually seen one of those units in operation? Even an electric model? What a royal pain in the you-know. And that's before you bring enough, keep it at the right temperature, pack clean bottles and nipples and risk wasting it on the diapers and wipes and extra clothes and other things you pack to keep babies happy when you COULD simply leave where it stays safe, unwasted and ready whenever it's needed.
