so I'm picturing a shuttle/impulse.
I believe it will probably be some sort of shutte or impulse, probably very short in length.

the owner of big chief died. are they still going on with the expansion?
Jim Laskaris, the original owner of the park, passed away soon after IAAPA. The park is now owned by his son Nick, who was really doing most of the managing in recent years anyway. The article addresses Jim's death: "Before our father passed away we were planning an expansion, but not as large as what we're going to do now," [Nick] Laskaris said.
In other words, the big addition was planned after Jim's death, and is still on.

OK... we have Cyclops, Zeus, and Pegasus. What other good greek mythological names are there that will fit this new coaster?
Well, since Kraken, Medusa, Hercules, Colossus, and Apollo are already taken, there's....
Gods
Ares
Athena
Aphrodite
Artemis
Hera
Hephaestus (sp?)
Monsters
Minotaur (this one gets my vote)
Siren
Chimera
Later,
EV
I don't think we'll need to worry about that.

All I can say is everybody don't get a major case of anticipointment. Big Chief's has done these weird marketing ploys in the past so let's just wait and see.
It ain't Intamin either. I find it funny that 99% of people who want their milled-wood coaster haven't even been on one.

Is this really suprising to you? The reason most people are clamoring for Intamin wood is *because* they've never been on one. I would venture that for most people a trip across the pond for a coaster is a bit beyond the pale so of course they want to see one stateside....more likely to be able to try it out!

Anyway I think it is great that Big Chiefs is trying to do something. But if they want to transform into a real park their attitude towards their customers and their safety needs to change. Some of their practices are flat out dangerous!
Also the signs saying (Ride at your own risk park does not have insurance) which by the way is BS because by law they are required to because it is open to the public. Those signs have to come down. While some find it funny alot of people would not and it could cause future trouble.
They will just need to change alot. Lets hope they do. I have yet to actually visit Big Chiefs but from everything I have heard from friends that have gone its not the most welcoming place. O Well. All we can do is hope!

From what I remember, there's only been one other coaster that's had some work done on it the spring before the year of the actual open date ... and that one ended up being 420' high.
EV - there are a lot of other names too that could be used. The ones you gave look like they're all Greek ... Norse God names are awesome too. Thor, Loki and the like. I think they'd make great coaster names too!
Edit: Ok, yes they are Greek cause that's the theme ... duh. Ok, never mind me, but I still think a park full of Norse God named coasters would be cool ;) *** Edited 1/23/2004 2:39:46 PM UTC by Impulse-ive***

Thanks 2Hostyl. In addition, since Balder was recently rated the #1 woodie, and Colossos also rated a decent #11, despite it's enormous size, I don't think it's required for me to have ridden one to realize these are great products. Plus they are known for amazing amounts of airtime, something every wood coaster should have IMO. The way I figure it, if any park were to go for any woodie record, this would be one of the better choices, since the last thing the US needs is another overbuilt RCCA POS structural nightmare.
