Big Chief announces plans for a new coaster in 2005

escher - S&S's first woodie was exactly what the park asked for - a family woodie. Good thing we don't judge CCI on their first woodie: Sky Princess!

mOOSH - reserving judgement until he rides Hades.

These four engineers as a team are responsible for bringing us the Legend, Villain, BoulderDash, CornBall Express, Mega Zeph, and The Boss to name but a few. I don't think we have to worry about the ride being a dud escher. I could name a few more rides that two of them are responsible for that are highly reguarded such as Tremors, Shivering Timbers, and GhostRider!!!

I happen to know more about this ride than what was released today on their site. Trust me when I say, when the details are released, this coaster will have some very interesting/unique features. These guys love what they do and share as much passion in building quality rides as we have in riding them!!

Oh, you mean the other people. Whew. ;)

Count me in as being pleased as punch about the new developments, and Yes.... I guess it's time to plan the trek to the real Midwest.

Doubtful a ride called Hades would bring anything to the table OTHER than quite a punch!
So Thrillerman a few questions:

Can we safely assume that this will be a woodie larger than The Boss or American Eagle?

Do any of the unique features include loops (I hope NOT)? But one rumors a few years back from an operator suggests that it would be a looping woodie But I hope that old rumor is completely false.

Will it have PLENTY or airtime for me??

Big Chief's IS the second closest park to me and a quick trip last summer proves that I can get there by leaving early (5or6 am) and still have plenty of day left to ride Hades which I hope will be my new #1. Looks like I MUST move to Wisconsin which went from zero to 5 woodies in less than 10 years!! :-) *** Edited 1/24/2004 4:58:06 AM UTC by Pink Floyd Fanatic***

It is a FACT that The Voyage is the greatest thing on the planet!!
PFF, Hades will not have any airtime for you -- only for me.

And with a name like Hades, I'm guessing there might be "underground" stuff? Eh? EH?! :)

Hey! Sky Princess is a fun little ride.

Clouds and Princesses - what's a 30 year old guy not to love? :)

Now, call me crazy, but doesn't it after "in the Midwest" say "to open in the year 2005"?
That thing is going to be a Wild Mouse! (Or did you hear any other noteworthy coasters to be built in "the Midwest" in 2005?)

:o)

You obviously haven't read the news item.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

First off....I like to go by the definitions of good 'ole Websters Dictionary...So, the Midwest is the area "around Great Lakes & in upper Mississippi valley from Ohio & sometimes Kentucky on the E to North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, & Kansas on the W"

http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=midwest&x=21&y=10

And for the record, New England does not include NY, NJ, PA or Delaware as was suggested earlier. New England is "the NE U.S. comprising the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, & Connecticut"

http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=new+england&x=11&y=13

As to the original topic...While I don't have any plans for the Dells area, this topic is certainly interesting enough to get me thinking. With all of the winks going on, something intersting is going on. Could it be another looping woodie?!?! An underground tunnel wouldn't be unique in and of itself..but maybe they are doing something unique with the tunnel. HMMM

No further explanation needed. I'm hopelessly lost.

That certainly would explain tearing up the parking lot I suppose!

Indiana Beach asked these same four gentlemen to design a smaller family coaster to compliment the Hoosier Hurricane and look what they ended up with...Cornball Express!!

BTW, I'm with Gonch about Sky Princess too.

I love the name. Then again, I'm the one who names pets after mythical figures (my cats are Hermes and Loki -- hey, nobody said I had to stick to a single pantheon)

I can't wait to try this ride. I've been meaning to get up there for a while now, this just makes that even stronger.

But Greg... isn't your cat Loki stuck in a tree? ;)

Get it? Huh? Get it?

I loved Sky Princess, too...but look where CCI went form there. That was my point. Sure Thunderhawk might not be our cup of tea, but perhaps escer should wait to ride some more S&S woodies before claiming everything they design is a dud.

Timberhawk, you mean? ;)

Rob - who still does that!

I'm still beaming about a new S&S woodie this summer, and then a GG woodie the next.

-3 CCI's

-1 S&S

-1 GG.

That's quite the lineup.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Let's not forget that Coasterworks! Thunder Eagle is being relocated for the 2004 season, and Herb Schmeck's Hillcrest Little Dipper is going to Little A-Merrick-A in 2005. Not a bad time to be a fan of wooden coasters!

I actually just checked out GG's website for the first time! Sweet!

I have been meaning to get to the Dells for a while now. I am sure the area will be a must for next year's Con attendees. :-D

"Hades" is a VERY cool, er, HOT name!

Moosh and others... I was mainly trying for the Humor shot. I know Timberhawk is exactly what the park asked for... and it's not a bad ride. It's just, several folks heard S&S WOODIE up here in the great NorthWet and got all excited because of what S&S had done with steel. BOY were they dissapointed. Most of us knew it wasn't going to be spectacular... And if I ever get to the Dells, you bet I'm looking forward to Hades!
