Big Chief announces plans for a new coaster in 2005

Today in the Wisconsin Dells Event Big Chief's announced its plan's to build the tallest coaster in the Midwest to open in the year 2005. The type of coaster hasn't be named for park owners plan to keep it a secret. The first part of the ride is reported that it will be finished by the end of spring. Along with the announcement of the new coaster, there also another ride besides Triton that will open in the summer. The owner's main goal for Big Chief's expansion was to turn it from a amusement park into a theme park atmosphere. The price to enter will now be changed to a pay-one-price admission and also the name has been said to be changing to from Big Chief to Big Chief Mt. Olympus Theme Park. http://dellspaper.scwn.com/articles/2004/01/21/news/news01.txt
Hmm, tallest coaster in the Midwest, wouldn't that mean it'd have to be taller than 420ft? Then wouldn't it be the tallest in the world?

Sounds like I may have to make my way up to BCMOTP for the first time in 2005! *** Edited 1/22/2004 1:56:49 AM UTC by jomo***

Some people dont consider Ohio part of the midwest.

I wonder what kind of coaster this will be, kinda sounds like a huge woodie to me.

I think that they are probably using more restrictive definition of midwest. At any rate, it is safe to say that they are going to get a coaster that is over the 200 feet range. (My vote is for an expedition GeForce clone) j/k
For attractions in the Dells, the "Midwest" is anything between Noah's Ark and Pirate's Cove

Those who know, don't wink.

OMG I have a new sig!!!
Looks like they are building a water coaster too, according to their website. Maybe the water coaster is going to be the tallest of it's kind in the midwest. Are there any other water coasters in the midwest?
Those who wink, don't know. :)

The tallest coaster in the midwest? Just like Zeus, the fastest coaster in the midwest at a whopping 60mph! Even not counting Ohio, what about Raging Bull and American Eagle in Illinois, Shivering Timbers in Michigan, and Wild Thing in Minnesota? Are none of those in the Midwest? that's some really sketchy marketing...
Oh yea, and SF Chicago has never misled the general public. I'll go get the noose.
Well not to start a "blah blah it's not midwest" fight, but the people of the tri-states (IL, IA, MO) think OH is a lot closer to the East then it is to the West. So wouldn't that make it "mideast"? ;)

Random thoughts from a Wisconsinite:

About time they offer a one charge a admission but it better not be a rip off because I dont see how anyone could spend a whole day there. It should be less then any of the waterparks in the area because you can spend a day at those but it proably wont be since there one ride tickets were a rip off.

Most people who are going to go there know Great America enough to to know that Raging Bull is extremely "tall" and "fast" so this ride better deliver.

The "water coaster" has looked a lot like a log flume in their ads so dont count on much.

I don't want to steal anyones thunder either but ;););)

Wood - anything else is an imitation

I have met Nick before. Nothing out of the ordinary from an owner. Think about this: 'upper midwest'.

Well, whether or not this is actually the tallest coaster in the midwest doesn't really matter to me. I'm just excited that the Dells area is getting yet another coaster. S&S wood in '04, and another in '05. Glory.

Now see....having lived in Los Angeles almost my whole life I see things from a different perspective:

West: Pacific to the Rockies

Midwest: Rockies to the Mississippi

East: Mississippi to the Atlantic

So there! ;)

mOOSH

And you know what that actually makes sense and is what the people here IN the midwest consider the midwest.
So now according to Moosh's thinking, Chicago is now an Eastern city. "smacks forehead" :)
