I am telling you, put that, and one more flat ride there and that section will actually feel like it should be there.
I can always hope...just don't put it so far out of the way like they did to the boomerang, slc and top spin...
I hope this all turns out well cause the park could easily become a yearly visit for me since its so close and the campground is a good time.

As another person who has SFDL as one of my homeparks, I wish we could have received Ultra Twister or Greezed Lightnin' instead. I've ridden Mantis, Georgia Scorcher, and Sky Rider and haven't been particularly impressed with any of them. Sky Rider is my favorite, but it still isn't that great of a ride.I also visited SFAW on vacation back in 1999 and rode all of the coasters except for Batman (which was closed all day) and Serpent (which I skipped). Why couldn't SFDL have gotten the intriguing and unique Ultra Twister, or the quick, simple fun of Greezed Lightnin'? (which inspired my signature that I've kept since I became a member here)
You'd rather have ultra twister as opposed to B:TE at your home park? if I could I'd gladly trade you for it as UT's what we're getting at SFA.
This Togo coaster in Japan runs "both" a stand-up and sitdown train on the same track! It was featured in an ACE publiation a fews years back as well!

(that uses two loading platforms, but runs on the same track
This ride features two tracks and two different trains:

Here's one interesting thing I remember when it was Shockwave at Great Adventure. When the train hit the midcourse, it was LOUD. I think they still had a tire-based midcourse back then (and if it wasn't tire-based, it was incredibly ear-piercing nonetheless). The ride ops were all wearing earplugs. Of course when the ride was relocated to Houston, they enclosed the station. I've managed a total of three rides on it. As Shockwave, it opened late in the day and the line was too long to get a re-ride. At SFAW, we rode it once, then stupidly rode it again later in the day. It's like we just wanted more abuse.

I think the ride would be better with new B&M standup trains, although I doubt the park is likely to invest in those.
I assume they'll be retrofitted to the Intamin track, then?
Technically it's not Intamin track that this coaster runs on. It runs on Giovanola track that is the exact same track the B&M coasters run on. So adding a B&M stand-up train shouldn't be too difficult
As for getting this ride up and operating n time to open with the park, it may happen. If they have already appllied for permits to build it, and if they have aready poured footers for it it should only take a month or two to actually construct and test. Why would they store the ride in the field across the street if they weren't going to put it up this year. If it was going into storage wouldn't they have put it in the back lots somewhere?
Remember this is only a new announcement to us. If one person at SFAW knew that this ride was going to SFDL, they could have applied for the permits and done the survey work and even started to pour the footers back in October or November. It is definately possible for this to show up in April when the park opens, but even more likely to debut over Memorial Day weekend, when the true park season kicks off. *** Edited 2/3/2006 12:35:01 PM UTC by SK610***

i still have no ideas on where this will go, but as fast as they COULD put this up, i don't see it opening for the beginning of the season.
Chances are if it does go up this year it won't open til the start of the summer season, same goes for ultratwister at SFA & the SLC at TGE....this is SF wer'e talking about here ;) .
I'm willing to take I-Fan's word about B:TE being a rough ride & besides we already have shockwave at PKD so a standup wouldn't be all that novel for the park but UT certainly will especially for it's 85 degree first drop...that's even steeper than the drop on supes which is 70 degrees.
Now I'm not sure if SFDL can begin construction until the permits become available or if they can go ahead with at least site preps during the application process,SFA for some reason actually requested approval for last years HH additions only after they were built but I doubt they can do the same for UT.

...and the backwards loop is wicked intense and fun, without being painful.
Wow, you MUST be from New England. ;)
They still need to finish the big kahuna
i think they will definitly start during the season sometime, pouring footers etc. when the weather is nice... that is, if they don't start now. Although, I too think they will be busy with big kahuna.
