Batman pieces on site at SFDL (pics)

And the best steel from SFAW still has no home. Pity!

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
^And which ride would that be?
Does anyone know of any land cleared in the park? I'd think that if it gets put up there, it would go by the Batman show.
You know, after seeing how fast Patriot has gone up, and that is with the first half of winter, I think it's possible to get this thing up and running for this season.

I admit I have never ridden this ride, but, I am happy to see that it didn't go to the scrap yard. Have fun DL'ers!

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

These look like the ones from Houston becase I don't know of any Inveted Batman's being demolished.

Thank you for that observation Captain Obvious. :)

Sad but true: SFDL is my second home park after PCW and ive only been 3 times. 96, 97, and 2000. I never got to ride S:ROS so it would be nice to add 4 coasters to my count.. SROS, BOOMERANG, BRAIN TEASER & of course B:TE if it is erected. I doubt it though becuase to me it looks like they just threw the pieces ontop of eachother w/o any care.

Ouchies! I am not familar with the ride so I was looking at old photos of it on rcdb.

Looks like my type of ride that I like to complain about. ;-)

I don't plan on getting back to Darien anytime soon but at least they can add it to their list of painful coasters (Superman excluded!) :-)

But that's just me. ;-)

All I have to say is "It's about time!" SFDL has gone so long without a coaster and now they are finally getting one. Granted it's not a new coaster, but it looks like it may be a pretty intense coaster. I just hope that SF does the right thing and gets new trains for ride. Maybee if Riddler has an extra train or Chang has an extra train or even Georgia Scorcher has an extra train sitting around. I have heard that it is a painful ride, but maybee that is due to the trains.

The ride itself is only 300' less than Batman: The Dark Knight at Six Flags New England... and that ride in & of itself is a somewhat short (albeit intense) ride.

If Six Flags would invest $200,000 ($100,000 each) for new FLOORLESS trains, it would absolutely change the ride for the best.
You theme it, add in the cost of labor, a new paint job...

...and pretty soon, you got yourself a fairly new coaster for just over a million!

Chances of that happening? Slim to none... especially with the new majority shareholders in place making the decisions.

I think the ride would be better with new B&M standup trains, although I doubt the park is likely to invest in those.
All this floorless train talk is nonsense.

It would take a lot more than slapping the trains on to convert it. The station and controls would have to be totally modified to accommodate the trains. Do you think they're going to do that after it's third relocation? No.

Not to mention the ride was engineered for riders in the STANDING POSITION. History has already taught us that when a ride gets new trains putting riders in a totally different position than the ride was designed for that bad and/or painful things happen.

Did anyone ever do that to a coaster, I mean like change the trains from a stand up to a floorless?
Both of you are right. It might sound good on paper but not going to happen for a great number of reasons.

Look at the coasters that left Astroworld- an SLC, Ultra Twister, Batman- they are all "novelty" coasters. They do something unique, something that can be marketed in some way. Batman is getting relocated because it will be something unique in the upstate NY region (unless you cross the lake into Canada).

No, Johnny.

johnny,

WoF retrofitted their Arrow Corcscrew with stand-up trains back in the '80s. It failed miserably and the sit-down trains were put back on the ride.

As much of a headbanger Batman is, you have to wonder if was in fact engioneered with the standing position in mind. It might not get any worse if you changed the trains to sit-down style. :)

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

Well isn't there that coaster in Japan that has both a sit-down and a stand-up train on it?
I don't think they could change the type of trains from stand-up to floorless, but they could definately put new B&M stand-up trains on the ride. It may not even coast too much if some of the other B&M stand-ups in the chain have extra trains, maybee they could just borrow two of them to smooth out the ride a bit

HEY...

You're ruining my fantasy here... can't I at least WISH for floorless trains? ;)

Besides... why cannot the same arguement be made about Wooden coaster trains. Yes, they can't convert to stand-up (obviously)... but they have used different models on the same track (Raging Wolf Bobs, anyone?), and the results vary greatly...

...so if not new floorless trains (which, in theory COULD work) then maybe new B&M stand-up trains... to at least improve ride experience?

Yeah, there is a dual-track ride in Japan that uses sitdown and standup trains. I don't think it was engineered to run both- since the ride was built by TOGO, I don't think it was engineered at all, probably just scribbled on a napkin and built to very loose specifications.
