Batman pieces on site at SFDL (pics)

In theory, Dawg, they COULD make it work, but just slapping on new trains isn't going to work. It's also much more difficult than wooden example you noted. How many wooden trains have a clam-shell floor come up and around the train in the station?

If they really wanted to give you a great ride expirience, they wouldn't be whoring this one out... again.

Right, they'd be giving the park a Georgia Scorcher clone!
It's about time SFDL got something new, granted like the SLC & Ultratwister it may just sit there for a season or two before going into operation but at least it's something for you guys.
Yeah, unlike SFA, which has been given the shaft for years and years and years, right?

No, Johnny.

Uh, Maybe not from standup to Sitdown but there has been coasters that were sit down made into standups. SFSTL mine ride and a togo racing coaster in japan are two of them.

Honestly I think the whole converting to sit down trains is entirely possible as long as the possition your heart is in, Is in the same spot.

Floorless, No, the retro fit is a big cost. The trains are a big cost. I howver could see a change in the seating design with fixed floorboards and actual seats.

Chuck, saying if probably will never happen but saying it couldn't be done is the last thing out of my mount.

I have a feeling the cost of adding the station that allows a coaster to be a "floorless" is more than what the ride is worth shipped and installed.

If the coaster is rebuilt at SFDL, I don't think it's going to matter what it is. It will be a new ride and that will count for something for the first year or two. Besides, I don't remember the ride being very bad, although it has been MANY years since it's stay at Great Adventure!

Even if changing the trains on the ride were possible, the layout would make a terrible sit-down or floorless coaster layout. It is clearly designed as a stand-up coaster and it will most definately stay a stand-up coaster. Besides, who would want to ride a sit down coaster with B&M trains that only has one loop? It would be the laughing stock of the entire country.

Leave it the way it was built. All of the twists and turns and sudden changes in direction were meant to be taken while standing up, providing a very uneasy felling below your feet.

That uneasy feeling was also experienced other places for certain riders ;) At least when I rode it long ago at SFGAdv also.

Watch the tram car please....
Mantis made me uneasy in certain places!
They probably could put new standup trains on it (however I do not see this as likely). They also could probably put sit down B&M trains (like those on Kumba or Hulk) on it but it would not be particularly exciting or comfortable. My guess would be they will build it with the original trains.
As another person who has SFDL as one of my homeparks, I wish we could have received Ultra Twister or Greezed Lightnin' instead. I've ridden Mantis, Georgia Scorcher, and Sky Rider and haven't been particularly impressed with any of them. Sky Rider is my favorite, but it still isn't that great of a ride.

I also visited SFAW on vacation back in 1999 and rode all of the coasters except for Batman (which was closed all day) and Serpent (which I skipped). Why couldn't SFDL have gotten the intriguing and unique Ultra Twister, or the quick, simple fun of Greezed Lightnin'? (which inspired my signature that I've kept since I became a member here)

Schwarzkopf shuttle loops...The most possible fun in 36 seconds.

I wonder when it'll start being put back together? I think that it should get new trains and refurbishment when its all up, and possibly a new coat of paint. :)
Dammit. This should have went to SFFT.
I hope this coaster was worth the good old 7 year wait!

B:te for SFDL!

Cool news. Is there room where the old campground entrance was, near Superman? That area seriously needs some help.

Oh theres plenty room there as long as im thinking of the same area your talking about, if so they've used that area for fright fest activities for the past 4 years or so. It will sure be interesting to see what happens regardless?

There's about 20 unused acres there (at least) that goes from the end of that little Superman area, around Predator & along the way up to the hotel... I'd even go as far as saying 30 or so... from the photos I've taken as well as THIS ariel & THIS ariel, it shows they have plenty of room with little manipulation needed to put it in.

The only other spots would require a lot more sacrafice like by the go-kart track (which reeps in a lot of revenue because it's sometimes more packed than the rides!)... or by Darien Lake itself near the laser light theater (which would kind of ruin the tranquility there).

It would be nice to see that area furthur developed, they can go the obvious route and make it the superhero area and add a large flat ride in the future.

I agree that up front of the park is a decent area to put this ride, and it will probably be the new home of it (the track is being stored directly across the street) But don't forget that they probably don't want too many rides getting too close to the hotel so as not to disturb the guests especially at night when the young children may be asleep but the park is still open.

To us that may be the obvious spot to put the ride, but to SFDL it may be put in a different area. Heck, it may not even keep the Batman theme to it.

at night? the rides all close down at 10pm anyway when the Laser Show begins & the laser show would be louder than anything at night anyway because of the blaring music & fireworks that probably echo pretty good off of the lake directly across where the hotel is...

...so I don't think noise is a factor at all.
