Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK? Now Chang to SFGAm discussion.

I hope TTwins goes somewhere. Maybe with the new GGroup trains, it could be a stellar ride. It's a great design, just those awful G-trains.

As for Chang, ug! Boring ride that is also very rough. Screw Chang, we want the TIDAL WAVE back!!!! It would go great somewhere right at the front of the park ;)

If SF would 'think outside the box' to further overuse that term, they could capitalize on old stuff, a cool way. Re-introducing Tidal Wave (or whatever they would call it) would be a big draw for lots of people that have stopped going to the park. Buy whatever parts you need, make it look pretty, make a short video or commercial (using retro marketing or something), put up some cool posters explaining the rides travel. I think it would be cool!

This has been an ongoing discussion over at a SFGAm message board.

One possibility brought up was that maybe Chang would have floorless trains put on it and given a Bizarro theme.

^ I really dont understand why anyone outside of the Louisville metro area would choose to to go to SFKK over those other three parks.

I live in the Louisville metro area, and have not visited the park in years.

Chitown, I think it would be SWEET if they put floorless trains on Chang! That would make for a much better ride I think. I guess it could happen.

However, I can understand the arguement of someone from Louisville that "its 5 min away."

They can't put floorless trains on a standup coaster. We have disscussed this on here before(can't seem to find it at the moment).

I think chang would be a better fit at sfa myself.

They have not got a new major ride since when?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Me too...but only for the reaction it would bring from BatwingSFA. I can hear his rantings and ravings now! lol ;)

I started the rumor that mantis was going to get floorless trains at Millennium Mania at CP in '01 when I worked on the ride. I know it can't be done, but it would be a really fun ride! It was really fun spreading that one throughout a large group of coaster enthusiasts. lol

I've never been to KK, even though I live so close. It's about 3 1/2 hours away, I believe. It's not only because I dislike Six Flags parks, but also because the coaster linup wouldn't offer me anything new. I've already rode all of those coasters at different parks.

What may be happening to this park is very interesting. Could they have had a difficult time recovering from the Superman Tower accident that severed Katie Lassiter's legs? That was a very dark time for the park, and the news of that terrible accident spread all over the country.

Well if the floorless conversion can't be done, then I would assume Iron Wolf would go bye-bye if SFGAm got Chang.

I'm thinking maybe someone got their wires crossed, and it's going to the *other* SFGA? It's a theory...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

There you go Gator.

Give Chang to SFGAdv and give SFGAm Scream from SFMM since it never generates a line there anyway.

Yea, I hear that sfmm needs it's parking lot back.

Since when?

So what's your take on it Jeff? Can a standup be converted to a floorless (or or sit down)?

With the changes Shapiro is doing to existing coasters, I would love to see a Bizarro theme with floorless trains put on Chang if it moved to SFGAm.

I'm not Walter or Claude, but if the track gauge is the same, and the ride dynamics on a different train don't adversely affect the human body, I don't see why not. Granted, I suspect you'd need outright replacement of the track in the station because of the floor system, but that would be a non-issue in relocation. And heck, they did it to SheiKra.

I think someone said at one point in time that it is because the track was designed for the heartline to be in a certain spot. If you change from a stand up to a sit down you essentially change the heartline, unless you elevate the seats.

And how, exactly, do you propose positioning the ride centerline relative to the riders on a stand-up coaster, where every rider is positioned a little differently?

Rider position is a lot more consistent when the ride has seats, as the variations are offsets from the rider's CG instead of from the floor.

I am not proposing that exactly. I think it is hogwash. I was vaguely recalling a discussion that was had somewhere many moons ago. To be even more clear I think that converting from a stand up to a sit down is very doable and on Chang, it would be an awesome improvement, if only it stayed in Kentucky.

I started to think type that the heartline was further from the track on a stand-up, but when I look at it now, I'm not so sure. If it's different at all, it's three or four inches, and as Dave pointed out, it's different for every rider anyway. Taking that a step further, with those wide trains, people on the ends are several feet from the heartline regardless.

Under that assumption, it'd be pretty freaking sweet if they put floorless trains on Mantis and renamed it Banshee ;)
