Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK? Now Chang to SFGAm discussion.

Well there ya go.

Having a secondary site seems to be a common practice for Six Flags. The Villain originally started out as a project for Six Flags Astroworld, but at some point it migrated north to Ohio.

So, basically, Villain was screwed either way ;) LOL

Certain victory.

How was Villain intended for any other site? It was built to the contour of the road it went along.

As I recall, there is very little topography where Villain stood. So the only thing specific to location about Villain's design would have been the curve of the road itself. That wouldn't have precluded dropping the coaster in at another site, so long as the space was available to fit it in.

Well then it was a dang coincidence because Villain fit perfectly into that lot. It was sandwiched between the road, Double Loop, the Antique Cars, the picnic shelter, and the admin offices.

No, no, no. Villain was clearly designed for Six Flags Ohio. What I'm suggesting is that had it not gone in there, it could have easily fit at any other park with the requisite space to do so. This isn't to say there wouldn't have been wasted space at another locale, only that it could be done without significant design changes. And not that I subscribe to Fun's 'secondary site' theory. I was merely throwing it out for discussion.

Ok, now I get what you were saying. The funny thing about it is that your right about how it could go into any other Six Flags park. Six Flags never had any bone about dropping a coaster into a place where it easily would fit.

My favorite example of this: Batwing at SFA, with Scream! at SFMM coming in second for "plopping" coasters down. Geauga Lake had good ride placement for years. X-Flight was the first coaster they "plopped".

Ironically, the former X-Flight seems to fit into the landscape much better at its later adoptive home.

SFAW was definitely slated to receive a wooden coaster from CCI a year or two before the park closed but the ride was built elsewhere. Perhaps it was Megazeph and not Villian? I wish I could remember....

(note to self: start taking Ginko)

Ride contracts get moved from park to park often. Prowler at WOF was PGA's contract. It doesn't mean a ride was already designed for another park, just that it was originally planned for it. Dominator was planned for SFKK and the simply moved the contract to SFO. It doesn't take much to alter wood coaster designs either, even with The Voyage they were changing certain things through the construction. I don't know about Villain, but considering what type of rides Premier was putting into their parks before the SF transition, it's pretty obvious that they moved some SF contracts around for their existing parks. B&M was sold out several years in advance by the late 1990s. Premier wasn't looking to add a large B&M floorless coaster to Geauga Lake until they bought SF.

I seem to remember the CCI booth at IAAPA had a listing of their coaster projects and one of them was AstroWorld for 2000 or 2001. By the end of the show the AstroWorld listing had been covered up. Someone had a picture of the covered up sign somewhere, but I can no longer find it. I had heard a couple of things for AW, one was a steel-structured L-Shaped Shivering Timbers-like out and back, another was a steel-structured Ghostrider-like coaster.

Perhaps it was slated to be one place, but it was definitely designed for GL.

X-Flight is a near-clone to Stealth (has rolls instead of corkscrews), which first appeared at Paramount's Great America. Jeff Siebert mentioned at one of the BeastBuzz events that Paramount Parks subsidized the R&D for those rides, but decided to instead license out the exclusivity to Six Flags instead of building additional rides themselves. So in an almost-ironic way, X-Hawk is now where it was originally intended to be.

Jeffery, that information regarding a coaster for Astroworld at IAPPA is exactly what I remembered seeing. The only real difference I saw in the layout was that the Astroworld had a true L shape with a 90 degree bend in it, where as Villain ended up having more of a softer 45 degree bend in the layout.

It's now confirmed . Chang started coming down today.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

I have extreme suspicions that "the Astroworld CCI that never happened" became Cheetah. ;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

WTF...

Seriously, this is stupid. Looks like SFKK is going to be headed the GL route.

What's next, Twins and Mile High Falls demolition for more waterpark?

Another score for Lance and his Screamscape.

I certainly don't see this move as bizarre or unwarranted. Kentucky Kingdom is a rather small park and really doesn't warrant a coaster the size of Chang that takes up a significant amount of the tiny real estate the park has.

I find it weird that a coaster of that size ever made into that park in the first place.

It certainly also kills two birds with one stone. You free up room for SFKK to expand the water park, and another SF park can market the relocated Chang as a major brand new attraction.

Possibly SFMM anyone? http://www.rcdb.com/4346.htm
