Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK? Now Chang to SFGAm discussion.

You know I am sad to see them close that section of the park. Mile High Falls in my opinion was the best ride of that type. I swear it used to get you completely soaked! It didn't matter where you rode on it you would get wet. Some of these types of rides like the one at Kings Island and another one at Six Flags over Georgia would only get you partially wet. Mile High falls was a great ride! You could also go stand on the bridge after the ride and get soaked again! It was pretty cool to have that wall of water completely surround you! I swear the splash on that ride was unreal. I have seen Pilgrims Plunge splash and I swear Mile High Falls' splash was bigger. Also Twisted Twins was a pretty fun ride. True it isn't the most thrilling of coasters but it was fun to ride and wasn't too rough. Sad to see these two attractions both closed I must say. It is also sad to see T2 go down hill so fast. I can remember being at the park when the ride first opened in 1995 and it was pretty smooth. During that season we rode it 15 times in one day I think. Yes I have rode it since then most recently back in 2006 and it is pretty bad and not enjoyable anymore. I wish they could tear it down and add a flyer or action packed wooden coaster there. Anyway Kentucky Kingdom will always be my home park since I was born and raised in Louisville so I will always hold a little sentiment towards it. I used to go all the time through the 90's as a teenager. Hopefully it will continue to improve before it goes under.

Hmm... parks closing rides, or removing attractions without clear plans on the future of the site. That seems to be a theme in itself these days.

I know we usually shouldn't take rumors on Screamscape very seriously, but Lance has been steadily posting reports about Chang being removed and relocated to SFGAm.

His latest report tells us that this is Chang's LAST WEEKEND at SFKK. Surely this isn't true...is it?

I take Lance's rumors seriously, because they usually seem to have some kind of truth to them. If he is skeptical, he usually tells readers ("grain of salt") . If he has reason to believe that the rumor is true, he tells usually tells why he does.

However, this one is a "whopper". lol Being the worst park in the chain, could KK be closing? Something is probably going on.

^^KK is rapidly becoming a waterpark. Of course, CF might end up doing the exact same thing with GAm.

Yea, It's kinda odd that they would be removing the largest coaster in the park.With the twins closed down(for some crazy reason), that leaves them with a bunch of small cookie cutter coasters.

Greezed lightning is the only good coaster left at this park.

Sounds odd....Let's shut down a whole section of the park, and then remove our best/ largest coaster.

Chang is going bye-bye.

I beg to differ, Thunder Run certinaly counts as a "good coaster", IMO. Granted, I haven't been to the park in a couple years, but TR was always a very solid ride on my visits. The real bummer was that there WAS a station area built for transfer track (as in, to add/run a second train), but then SF spent the money to tear that structure out rather than buying and using a second train. That was pre-Jay Thomas, and it seemed to me that it was a sort of admission that the park wasn't going to be viewed as one with "growth potential".

Since that time, KK seems to have been resigned to also-ran status in its market (a distant second to HW).

TR was running like a piece of crap when I rode it this summer. I was insulted I had to wait as long as I did for such a poorly maintained ride.

I don't see why Chang would get sent to SFGam since they already have a stand up coaster. They should send it to SFGadv.

If they are going to send a coaster to SFGAm, they should send back Greezed Viper Wave

They need to send Chang down to my home park Alabama Adventure! That was good for a laugh and also wishful thinking.

While Chang may be going away, it certainly will not die. Methinks there is a home to the north that will not appreciate nearly as much as it deserves.

I don't know if they hate it, or like mentiond before, they want to turn it into more of a waterpark.

I rode this about a month ago and I agree with your assessment. I think the ride has a fun layout, but it needs some TLC which it clearly hasn't gotten recently.

It was interesting, because I was there on a warm Saturday and August and the coasters were all a walk-on except for RR Express (terrible capacity) and T2 (which had just opened up after a mechanical delay). The waterpark, however, was jammed. My first thought when I saw the amount of people in that area was that they needed to expand, which is why the rumor about Chang made some sense to me at the time, even if SFGAm already had a stand-up.

I'd argue that SFGAm is NOT the park that really needs this coaster the most, as that honor would probably go to SFA. I would argue that you may get the most utility out of Chang at SFGAm, simply due to the fact they draw in much bigger crowds. Thinning out the lines on the other coasters at SFGAm would have a more net positive benefit than at SFA, IMO.

I don't think many people will miss iron wolf if it was replaced by chang.

Because they're sandwiched between a park that's much bigger and a park that's a much better value.

^and another park that is much better to its south as well ;). Between KI, Dollywood, and HW I really dont understand why anyone outside of the Louisville metro area would choose to to go to SFKK over those other three parks.

I agree with you on your statement Gonch. I mean when you got Holiday World to the West and Kings Island to the East it will be tough to draw a huge profit from the rides part of Kentucky Kingdom. The water park should continue to thrive though. They need to open up Mile High Falls again if they do decide to go to just a waterpark. It was such a great water ride!
